Yeah and I never saw the point of that either, there's nothing stopping us loaning our players to the Championship (a better league to bed players in ready for the Prem) and you don't need to set up some special agreement to do so either.

The reason for a feeder club in Belgium initially was to be able to sign non-EU players, as they had (not sure if they still do?) more relaxed laws on second nationality & work permit applications. We were to send them there on loan for 3 years so they could apply for a Belgian passport, then once they had one, as a member of the EU, they were free to come to work in the UK.

We never really utilised it, as we never looked to South America, Africa, Asia and the like for youngsters as the ones that are worth signing get taken really young by major European clubs but when we did get a non-EU player, we found a way around it.

Unless this Ronielli kid has an EU passport of some description, I'm not sure how they will deal with getting him signed though.

We have pulled off some pretty amazing tricks in the past though... Ryan Nelsen on a working families Visa... that's a blag and a half, I bet we just gave his wife a pretend job... Junior Hoilett... exceptional talent rule, what's that??? If I'm from Outer Mongolia & I'm well good at carpentry & yak herding, does that mean I qualify???

I seem to remember Jack Straw pulling strings for Brett Emerton wife to get a visa.....

Interesting turn of events in the Mauro Formica embroglio. It turns out that

a. Formica's European passport has been determined to be expired so that needs sorting out -- apparently this was determined today.... are his handlers that daft? No idea how long that'll take but it is not helpful to anyone.

b. There's a strong difference in the monies Monaco are willing to pay Newell's Old Boys. So the deal is nearly dead in the water as of this afternoon.

So Formica is back to square one in his quest European football. No one knows exactly what his next options are but

here's a list of the wreckage so far:

Galasataray

Genoa

Blackburn Rovers

Monaco

I've begun to think this 'Cat' is strictly barge pole stuff.

Unfortunately with players like Mauro Formica and various other hyped South American talents over the years, they seem to get involved with people who want to exploit their talent for lots of money, which usually means players end up going to teams they don't want to go to and end up becoming a flop.

Having sat through the Brum / West Ham match, and simply confirmed my opinions of

Larsson, if Larsson is the solution then I haven't a clue what the problem is.

A decent delivery from a dead ball but after that, IMO, absolutely nothing.

I can't see what this man can offer us.

With Brum through to the final, he's going nowhere until end of the season and if his wages are £40k+ a week then, hopefully, we will give him a wide berth!

Aston Villa have the second biggest net spend since Lerner took over (to Man City of course), somewhere around the 125m mark in almost five years I believe. Randy Lerner is seriously wealthy. Yes he turned the tap off towards the end with O'Neill, but the money's there when needed.

Davies did seem like a very promising player at one point, but he has really disappeared. He may be a late developer like Gary Cahill but he could also be a minor Marlon Broomes.

As for the talk of Barcelona having us as a feeder club, it may be benefitial if the following things are in place:

1. They loan us some decent yougsters, or squad players that don't quite make it as a regular starter.

2. We can get above players for a good fee, and/or we have a 'favoured trader' status.

3. They don't lob us a load of dobbins they just want off their books.

4. Closer ties with our youth set-ups, i.e. coaching, tournaments.....

However, Inter Milan had Charlton as a feeder club, and that seemed to come to mothing.

Where does this feeder club talk originate from? An article? or just the fact that we are linked with two Barcelona youngsters? Just curious that's all :)

If I can add something to that, I am certain that Kean and Jensen's multilingual capacity makes such a deal much easier to arrange.

Maybe if you didn't base your opinion upon one game it would be better. He no longer wants to be at the club, has handed in a transfer request and has no intention of signing a new deal. He is probably thinking if Birmingham aren't in the cup then I might get my move. Not saying that he is btw, but he is a far better player than he has displayed this season and yet he has the same amount of assists as the amazing MGP and only one less than the 14m Charlie Adam.

The surprise on the assists list is Chris Brunt, he has 10!

A feeder club suggests loans and more loans

If any of them come good they go back to Barca.

Not how I would choose to do business personally, but two sides to every coin and all that.

If they do well, that likely means we do also

Being in a partnership with Barca, even if termed a "feeder club" is a win-win. The quality of our squad should improve (even with Barca's almost team A) and the quality of football should improve, to the increased enjoyment of our fans and, hopefully, our standing on the league table.

A 'feeder club' is also ambiguous and open to interpretation.

If it is just to send us a few players a year who are borderline Barca A, to see if they make the grade, then there is no harm in that and it could prove mutually beneficial

Exactly. And the benefits are redoubled if we get a percentage, even if small, of any future transfer.
