Rovers have confirmed that Michel Salgado has signed a contract extention which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2012 season. Rovers boss Steve Kean told the club's website: "To keep Michel here is great news, his experience is invaluable and his enthusiasm infectious. "He's a winner and you can never have too many of those."

Talks also continue with Christopher Samba and Paul Robinson with Rovers hoping to tie them down to new deals.

Reports in the local and national media are also suggesting that Mauro Formica is set to sign for Rovers. The player has held talks and had a medical. It is rumoured that he is set to sign a 3 and half year deal. It is thought that the deal hinges on whether Formica can get his Italian passport renewed before the transfer window closes, without his Italian passport Rovers would need to get a work permit for the player, it would be very unlikely that the permit would granted due to the player not having played on the International stage for Argentina.
