He's taller thats about it, Shearer was strong as a bull and ten times the player Carrol will ever be.

Aerially I can see a comparison with Shearer, both players very dominant in the air but Shearer was a far better finisher with his feet and his overall game superior.

On the Rovers front if we land Formica it's a better than expected window for me:

Jones- Midfield battler.

Formica- Creative midfielder.

Ticks two of the boxes we have really needed, I would add Roque but i am sceptical on how many games he will play.

Its good that JR has re-signed. Him, Niko and Rochina will be our only FT strikers come June 1. We cant afford to sign a whole new forward line.

Reminds me of the Pedersen deal. Why bother signing better players when we can settle for mediocrity on huge wages? Ugh.

Here's an idea. How about you go and start another thread titled "I will spin any news about Rovers with the most negative slant possible" and chat to yourself on there? If we didn't complete this deal, you would be gobbing off in a similar vein.

Nobody had heard of Nzonzi, Nelsen or Samba in recent years and they turned out pretty well.

In your desperate bit to slag me off you forgot the context of the conversation. Jerome Anderson was on national radio this morning and told the nation it would be an "interesting next few hours for Blackburn". Now if you read back you'll see that many people thought that meant a mystery signing was on the horizon, Hughesey even speculated aout Jerome and his cohorts going to a Manchester hotel to sort out the deal.

It was clear then it wasn't (or least the board hoped) it wouldn't be Rochina/Formica and because I'm maintaining that feeling I'm being negative?

And sorry if I'm a little harder to please than most of here who are getting excited at the prospect of literally anyone joining, I had higher hopes from new owenrs looking to impress but let's see what the next few hours brings. But if all we do is tie down Rochina in that time I stand by reasoning that what Jerome said the morning was misleading.

Why? Promising youngster from Barca...he's not there for no reason. Could be a great signing. Better than spending 35m on Andy C. This isn't football manager, we are trying to build a team to win matches and to compete, that doesn't necessarily mean we need big names so you can show off at school.

Look at our youngsters at the moment which have come through in Junior, Ollson and Jones. Regardless of how you interpret Jerome....a day where we can tie down some of our players and sign 2 promising youngsters IS interesting.

Not up to you to decide when is a good time though, is it? If they want to have a combined press conference with three announcements at the same time (Samba, Rochina and Formica) then why not? You want John Williams to stop trying to finalise the agreement for Rochina and Formica on deadline day just to announce that our skipper has signed...?

We have to announce a new contract, through JW? Kean cant do that? Or we cant just get Lee to announce that Samba has signed a new deal, and have details of it at a later stage? Im waiting on JW to announce the new Roberts deal, actually did he call a press conference for Salgado and Nelsen?

No, why? Do we have a lurker nicking stuff?

Wouldn't surprise me with those liberal dem voters.

Pseuds not pseudonyms.

On the Guardian's 'Transfer Window Deadline Day live' article a guy called Ewan Murray (who google informs me is a Scottish journalist for the Guardian) is 'breaking' the Formica and Rochina stories.

Well at this moment in time, in the last few hours of the transfer window - Rovers have yet to pay a transfer fee during this transfer window. So business as usual at the moment.

Though a bit happy with the Jones loan.

Mind boggled at the RSC deal - unless the dr is lonely in the trestment room.

IF Formica comes and the Rochina deal happen and are transfers and not loans - then they would make a good month for Rovers.

BUT, IF they happen.
