savage8 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I'm wondering whether he'll come straight back into the team when fit. Wasn't he dropped and subsequently injured having come on as a Sub? Is he a shoe in for the deepest MF of the diamond? Where does that leave J Jones, seemingly Kean's favourite new player. Or, will we change our formation around our best player (P Jones) and play 4 in Midfield with Dunn/Formica sitting behind RSC? RSC Formica/Dunn Olsson J Jones P Jones Jr.

ada2020 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 it is a relief, he only had 4 years and 3 months remaining on his old contract. Knowing he has that extra 9 months will help me sleep well tonight. Indeed I am far more relaxed about it......
sweet Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Playing p.jones alongside j.jones should allow jermaine to play as an out and out box to box midfielder, which can only benefit the team.
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I'm wondering whether he'll come straight back into the team when fit. Back in defense hopefully, he's not a midfielder.
Kelbo Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Indeed I am far more relaxed about it...... I was wondering about that too, new contract for seven months???
Exiled in Toronto Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I was wondering about that too, new contract for seven months??? I suspect it was the extra 30k/week that was more important - show him he's up there with our best players
RoverMad86 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Excellent news, but untill he puts pen to paper there is still a nagging doubt in my mind. Hope to see him back in defence, where he is a better player, alongside Samba.
Mattyblue Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I have a lot of doubts regarding Venky's approach on various issues. However, when it comes to signing up our existing talent on long term deals, that is EXACTLY what a club like ours should be doing. Keeps players happy and the club secure that maximum fees can be extracted if necessary. Am I being naive? Seems to me a good sign that Venky's see merit in JW's long held policy.
rovers_rob Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Jones has put pen to paper on a new deal
Rovers Gals Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 chill u lot ! phil jones has signed ! we got get junior to do the same !! let's concentrate on supporting our team to remain in prem and pray that venkys improve our club ! I want to believe that venkys bought the club not only as a business to develop but a genuine interest in football . Indian economy on the up and they genuinely like footy also ! I'm going to goa at Easter and proudly taking my shirt and rovers beach towel this year , wey hey !!
AndyNeil Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 a rare piece of very good news on this board which has become that bogged down in pathetic points scoring, I rarely bother to read and/or post these days
Hughesy Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 So the PM I had off a Member on here saying that Jones was off, that Robinson, Nelsen and Samba were all being sold and that we had signed Warnock back for £3m was all a load of rubbish..... well there's a shock!! Inside info my arse!! You are totally deluded if you want to believe that Ricky. I think we can guess where Ricky's 'inside info' came from BANG goes another theory!! Samba was to be sold! Jones was to be sold! Nelsen wanted out, we would spend no more than £5m - inc wages, etc etc!!!
Steve Moss Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 What money was spent or did we borrow? Where is the money coming from for all these improved deals?
Roost Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 a rare piece of very good news on this board which has become that bogged down in pathetic points scoring, I rarely bother to read and/or post these days Likewise. The quality of posts on this board has nosedived over the last few months and makes pretty miserable reading these days. The same people pecking at each other on every thread is tiring.
rebelmswar Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Likewise. The quality of posts on this board has nosedived over the last few months and makes pretty miserable reading these days. My bad.

I thought rumour and inuendo were yours, and a lot if others, bread and butter. Phillip is just supplying the demand, controversy wise. I find it immensely entertaining.
bennyboyt11 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 To those questioning why we would give Jones another contract so soon, perhaps it would be to give him a pay rise to reflect his status in the squad, the sort of pay rise he would obtain if he were to move clubs.
Paul Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 PJ expects to be fit and available in 3 / 4 weeks, which is far sooner than first thought.
Majiball Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 PJ expects to be fit and available in 3 / 4 weeks, which is far sooner than first thought. Good, Byker grove hasn't been the same since he left.
CrazyIvan Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Phil Jones should be back for the Blackpool game. There might be an interview with Phil in the papers/Sky sometime between now and the end of the week. Could be Saturday. Apparently, don't expect a lot but it should be about his return and the U21's...
92er Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Phil Jones should be back for the Blackpool game. There might be an interview with Phil in the papers/Sky sometime between now and the end of the week. Could be Saturday. Apparently, don't expect a lot but it should be about his return and the U21's... On Radio Lancs earlier he said he would hope to be competing for a place next month.
Steve Moss Posted February 23, 2011 Author Posted February 23, 2011 Phil Jones' interview. http://www.teamtalk.com/blackburn-rovers/6772436/Kean-Rovers-rejected-Jones-bids Apparently other clubs bid for Jones in January and we turned them down.
dazmaz Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Jones said on twitter he may be in the squad for the blackpool game
Steve Moss Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 Jones said on twitter he may be in the squad for the blackpool game Both pleased and worried. Pleased in that I want Jones back. Worried in that I don't want him rushed back merely because one or two persons may be feeling pressure.
