[Archived] Venky's Summer Transfer List

Recommended Posts

A MF five next season of:

-------J Jones---N'Zonzi

Hoilett----Kranjcar----Olsson

would do me for me. Guess Formica should be filling the AF role, BUT!..

Just looking at that makes me weep. We are so close, two players, to having a midfield which can battle it out with the best of them. Add a PL qaulity striker and two fullbacks and we would be challenging for top 6.

Schalke have got a new manager in Ralf Rangnick who sign a contract till summer 2014.

http://www.dnaindia....4-coach_1521211

also didn't schalke say the other week that the new coach wants him back at the club because he is part of his plans next season

http://www.socceroverthere.com/?p=4819

Chaddy he may well go back but they are hardly going to say they don't want him back, when they know we are interested. Time will tell, O'Hara is a very similar player in any case, another one if Wigan go down is James McCarthy, rumour is a Wigan fire sale if they go down, at least according to Nicko. ;)

I'd love to keep JJ, he's filled a gap left ever since Savage departed. Whether he'll come or not is difficult to say. If Venky's have the neccessary money then I don't think buying him or paying his wages will be an issue, it's just a case of whether Schalke want to sell. They'll know he's playing well and the new manager will likely want to use him based on that.

I think it will come down to how much JJ wants to play for us and play in the Premier League.

Sounds like Everton are going to offload Yakubu on the cheap in the summer.

He's got a goal scoring record that ranges from 'good' to 'excellent' wherever he has been. I think he's an improvement on everything we have. He doesn't suit the way Moyes sets up his team, but has still managed nearly 1 goal every 3 games there.

We're not going to have much money to spend, he's probably the closest thing to a 'proven Premier League striker' that we can afford. Still only 28 as well.

Not a bad call.

Gotta be an improvement on Benjani?

I'm sure Moyes once joked that no way was Yakubu the age that's written on his passport! That being said a goal scorer and if fit can do a job for us. I have a feeling that we will be spending some decent money this summer.

Definitely. Having said that I'd keep Benjani as backup, he doesn't seem to sulk when he's had a spell on the sidelines. I'd see Yakubu more as a Roberts replacement. Yakubu, Kalinic, Benjani and one quality signing would give us a good selection to choose from.

I think you might be thinking about Kanu there, I can't remember which Portsmouth manager joked about his age but someone said something like that. Yakubu looks fit and sharp with Leicester since he went there on loan.

Yeah, but I can't see Roberts going anywhere. Not after signing a brand-new deal.

Kanu I remember too but Moyes got into some hot water for his comments from Nigerian FA

2008...well remembered. I remember it now after reading that. I think it was a joke taken the wrong way though:

"Does anyone seriously believe that I would have made Yakubu the most expensive player in Everton's history if I had any concerns about his age?"

I would sign J Jones for sure. Kean best signing! why don't we offer 10 million pounds when we are safe! should be enough to sign him

Seriously?

Do you really need an answer as to why don't we offer ten million for him?

Don't we have some form of clause for JJ as a buy price? If so, why don't we stop messing around, offer it now (and therefore it has to be accepted..) and see if JJ would like to move to us? That eliminates the German's having any say in the matter.

If such a clause exists (and I have no idea if it does) from a business stand point its best to wait until the last minute. Being a cynic, a manager or owner wants a long term, possibly career ending, injury to come out of the other guy's pocket and not their own. So if there are matches to play before we exercise the option, then we should let them be played.

I once was faced with 3 14 year olds playing for an English premier league team who in all honesty had complete muscle tone, and almost as much stubble as me. I've never seen 14 year olds so far developed as these, so I enquired as to their age to find out all three were born on the 1st of the 1st, my ass I said. Turns out when they entered the country they were asked their age and whatever they said went on their documents. The reality was they were nearer 18, but being 14 made them stand-out footballers for their age.

Remarkable how things work in this country at time if said story is true?

Would love to sign JJ if we can but expect there to be fee problems as can't see us having more than a couple of million to spend on him. He has done well though since he's been here. Apart from that we need a decent striker with pace, I would want to keep Benjani but would be happy to get rid of any of the other strikers and get more dynamic players in to replace them. Maybe Formica could be the creative playmaker we need but suspect we might have been sold a turkey there by the fact that no matter how bad things have got he hasn't been given a run out. Pace is the key nowadays and we have so little of it going forward it's got to be a priority this summer. Hope not to see Emo or MGP in forward positions at all next season as they are just too slow.
