[Archived] Venky's Summer Transfer List

Recommended Posts

Left back - Steven Warnock (2m?)

Mid - Niko Krankjaer (2m?) or Bentley (4m?)

Sriker - What about Jermaine Defoe (6m) if we could get him on the cheap ples at least 1 more.

I think any of the above could be good as long as we get them on the cheap, all have played really well in the carers and maybe just need a move to refind there form.

Def mid - Jermaine Jones (3m)

defoe 6 million is way too cheap, he is still class and only 28

Warnock is meant to be available for 2.5 if Houllier stays, I doubt you'd get Niko#2 for that cheap, even if that's what spurs paid. Probably looked at around 5, as well as 60k a week wages(?). Definitely wouldn't get Bentley for 4m, even if he is out of form you'd probably have to double it. Add to that his wages (he'll have got 15m pound player wages from Spurs) and he's out of our grasp. Also, i doubt he'd return here, hes too egotistical fo that. Defoe, again, you can probably close to double. No way we'll spend that much on one player.

Jones, 3m? Really? He's been one of our stand out players, at LEAST double that.

Frankly the way people value other teams players, and then value our own, is nothing short of laughable.

he has had a poor season though and i think he would be worth a shout, maybe if Spurs come after Phil Jones there could be a deal with defoe and cash, or either of Bentley or Niko. 10 million might be enough? and he is a proven premiership forward.

Hanley is not ready yet, he could do with a season out on loan.

Nelsen is ageing and picks up a fair few niggles over the season. There is no doubt with Samba & Jones in defence we have been much better than when Nelsen was in there.

As for Jermaine Jones - the good thing is he 'wants to stay'.

Hoilett - well he needs a new contract the second we secure premiership survival.

That's good news hughesy, where have you heard this?

I know we are not safe yet.

But a few players who I feel are 'gettable' and have proven themselves this season are Odemwingie & Sturridge - yes both will cost money, but then so does anyone that will score you goals. Both have pace & a real eye for goal.

Then try and add someone like Kranjcar.

I think its inevitable that Samba will leave....so its a case of who we can sign to replace him....Upson on a free?

If we stay up I think Samba will stay. He has just got a new contract, he is captain, there is a really good young team forming up, and we (hopefully) have a fair bit of cash to throw around and show ambition. It should be enough to keep him interested to at least see what happens till January.

With the contract situation if he does go it will be for 15 million plus - do Arsenal or whoever want him that much? I doubt it.

J Jones will sign on I think. He is clearly enjoying it at Rovers, and he will fancy a crack at the Premier League.

The one I am worried about is Hoilett. Holding onto him will largely come down to who is interested as he does not seem over enamoured with Rovers. It is crucial that we get him to sign a contract.

Venky's said they may spend more, however didn't they say they will spend £5 million per transfer window or something along those lines...?

I remember an interview where they said the 5 million is not true, whether it's 5 or 10 or 15 million they will spend what is necessary to be successful

I dont have a link was months ago

I do remember those quotes - one of the amazing Rao interviews where they really sound like they know what they are talking about.

Also remember them saying they were happy to finish mid-table when they originally bought us, then they changed their tune to top 8, then finally decided that top 5 would sound better...

What more is there to say than 'out of touch with reality'

Nobody else think this is ridiculous conversation to be having until this time next week?

Not really. As it stands, we're still a PL team. Until that changes, it's business as usual.

I wouldn't mind Danny Rose and Kyle Walker from Spurs to play fullbacks. Demba Ba and Sturridge upfront and a central defender to replace Samba if he leaves. It's also imperative we keep J. Jones, with him and N'Zonzi in the middle of the park we can compete with almost anyone.

Kranjcar is quality but if we sign him then what was the point in signing Rochina and Formica?

Yes----in an ideal world we would buy top players for every position in which we are weak. I was assuming there wouldn't be enough money for that and was thinking in terms of priorities.

So I conclude that at centre-back we'd be "OK" but at left-back,centre mid-field and up-front we are woeful.

I was thinking that if we do stay up, would there be any players from the teams who would be relegated that we should be interested in? From West Ham the likes of Demba Ba, Scott Parker and Thomas Hitzelsperger stand out. Charlie Adam and DJ Campbell would be the obvious two from Blackpool. I like N'Zogbia, Rodellega, McCarthy and Figueroa at Wigan. There wouldn't be too many Birmingham players that I like, but if Chris Samba were to leave, someone like Roger Johnson could be a good replacement.

Wigan - Whos Stam? Rodallega maybe, McCarthy is ok, NZogbia - bigger clubs & expensive, Moses/ Figueroa average

West Ham - Tomkins is poor, Hitzlsperger injury prone, Ba yes please, Cole I dont rate, Parker bigger clubs

Blackpool - Vaughan off to Sunderland, Adam bigger clubs & expensive, DJ Campbell? No thanks

Brum - Both centre backs decent but not sure if bigger clubs might want them, Zigic is gash & Hleb is expensive and has done very little @ big club

Demba Ba's stats for the season

Hoffenheim - 15 starts, 6 goals

West Ham - 10 starts, 7 goals

Not bad....He's 6ft 2 and only 25.

FAR better than anything we have.....

Ba & Sturridge for next season please...Id be very confident if we could add 2 players like that to Kalinic, Roberts & Rochina
