Ricky Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Wonder if we could nick a couple of players off Spurs if Samba did end up going there. Wouldn't mind a deal with Krancjaer and Crouch involved.

den Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Age - yes, but 28 year olds are often signed on four year deals. In JW's own words, contracts are given to protect the club's investment.

One of the articles I read stating Arsenal and Spurs interest in Samba described him as a" bargain" at 10M. If that's what neutrals think why shouldn't we? Why should we present Spurs or Arsenal with a bargain buy?
Iceman Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Samba to Spurs Swap for Krankjaer and Defoe or Swap for Krankjaer and Crouch or Swap for Krankjaer and Pavlyuchenko or Swap for Krankjaer and Bentley or Swap for Krankjaer and Pienaar but as you can see, Krankjaer would be the one. If Venkys have money as we hope they have, then we can still go out and buy a quality centre back. Im not too fussed with the central defence as Nelsen can still play alongside Phil Jones. Its at right and left back, Central Midfield and up front we need re inforcing our squad. Its basically the same areas as previous seasons, but hopefully Formica and Rochina will make a solid break through next season.

Might as well ask for Van der Vaart too if you think Pienaar or Defoe would join us.
chris Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Might as well ask for Van der Vaart too if you think Pienaar or Defoe would join us. Defoe Van der Vaart and Harry Rednapp for Samba
braddock Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Defoe Van der Vaart and Harry Rednapp for Samba I'd rather have a drink driver than our previous management or him.
Iceman Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Might as well ask for Van der Vaart too if you think Pienaar or Defoe would join us. you never know.. they not getting regular football, so might be tempted to join us. If you dont try, you cant buy
Hughesy Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 For Samba - we really need to be pushing as close to £15m as we can get. So Kranjcar, Naughton & £2-3m please.
Fraserkirky Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I would rather sell him to Arsenal for Denilson and 10m, or Bentner and 8m.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 For Samba - we really need to be pushing as close to £15m as we can get. So Kranjcar, Naughton & £2-3m please. All depends on the market - if Leighton Baines is being touted around for £20m+ - why is Samba only being mentioned for around £10m ? From Arsenal's perspective - he is exactly the type of player they need to bolster their defence - I would say Samba could be worth a lot more than £10m to them
davulsukur Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Denilson would be quality, Spurs are well worth a look tho, even without a deal for samba. It was well documented that Harry liked Adam and Parker, if he pushes through for deals for them this summer they will defo be offloading some midfielders. Kranjcar would be at the top of that list for me.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted May 19, 2011 Moderation Lead Posted May 19, 2011 Odemwingie is quite a feasible shout, he's not on a great deal at WBA- (relatively, I think around £20k p/w) and he could be a real signing. Defoe is a long shot (no pun intended), would be surprised if we could tempt him, Krancjar would be another good signing, but I'd be surprised if we could pull it off!
Hughesy Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 All depends on the market - if Leighton Baines is being touted around for £20m+ - why is Samba only being mentioned for around £10m ? Baines - City cash cow Samba - Media darlings Arsenal or Spurs
AJW Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I have a feeling we'll go back for Damien Duff a move which would mind as long as the fee is sensible , Denilson is a good shout and i've been championing a move for Clyne for some time now , but without doubt the front line as to be where we need the most attention i think maybe 3 new strikers are needed
pick32 Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Samba is clumsy at times. Were as Leighton Baines is a 20million pound player. If you look at stats that count for a full back this season such as tackle success, assists and goals etc he wipes the floor with Bale, and on stats is the second best full back in the world only being beaten by Alves. The only reason people don't rate him highly outside of Everton is because he isn't a media darling.
roversfan99 Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 For Samba how about Bassong and Defoe/Pavyluchenko? Although it's very rare to see a swap deal like that.
AJW Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Wes Brown??? out of contract at utd isnt he? can play RB too
davulsukur Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Wages would be huge, as he thinks he's awesome, when in fact he isn't

Very fundamentally sound and rarely makes mistakes. He's not a £20m player though. He's not a game changer.
AJW Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Wages would be huge, as he thinks he's awesome, when in fact he isn't True , but if there's no fee involved ? and lets face it whatever he earns at Utd now nobody else will be willing to match and if Fergie feels he doesnt need him he'll have to take the best of whats on offer
davulsukur Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Do we even want him tho? Massively over rated due to the fact he plays for United. How he ever got into the England squad is beyond me.
The Rover of Finland Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Do we even want him tho? Massively over rated due to the fact he plays for United. How he ever got into the England squad is beyond me. Brown sounds like Sunderland signing with crazy wages. If Samba goes we won´t use the fee on centre half. Hanley will be given a chance. Infact, would Samba money even be used on new players?
davulsukur Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Plus anyone who cant get into a team ahead of John O'Shea shouldn't even be in the premier league
speeeeeeedie Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Blasphemy! Somebody ban this man. I never said that Tugay was bad. I just think Pirlo is a class above him. To join in again. I think Samba is off. Prime time to cash in on him.
