joey_big_nose Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Jonathan Soriano http://www.talksport...rcelona-striker WQell if we want him having Rochina here and his progress has to work in our favour.
Fraserkirky Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Jonathan Soriano http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/transfer-rumours/7608/4/blackburn-and-wigan-barcelona-striker Sounds like he knows how to stick the ball in the ol' onion Bag, even if its with Barca reserves. For 3m is probably well worth a pop. If Samba gets his big money move to Arsenal which I'm predicting, Bassong should be top of the list of replacement for Samba. I'm also predicting we have a really good team next season providing we stay up Sunday.

jonv Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 How can Keane possibly get another season. How can we even be talking about next season until after Sunday
braddock Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 I'd go for Bassong and O'Hara and a few million for Samba (if it was possible). I can't see Kranjcar coming to us. I'd love him to, but I feel he'll move to a team bigger than us if he does leave. Maybe in Europe, playing in a European competition too. How can Keane possibly get another season. How can we even be talking about next season until after Sunday How can you not know his name yet? If we went down I'm sure it would be a healthy budget in comparison to some Championship teams.
47er Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Samba wants to leave….he has made that clear over the last 12-18 months now. We have done well to keep him this long, and I think most fans think its time to let him get his trophys and move on (we all know he wont & the rovers curse will kick in). No point keeping an unhappy player at the club, especially if it gives you the opportunity to maybe get big money or a better squad from the sale. Why are you missing the point? Let him move on if he must but at our valuation. Not Spurs or Arsenal's or any southern press tosser. He's on a long contract and they'll have to pay. Remember "Rovers are no longer a selling club" S Kean. "the owners have told me I don't need to sell anyone" S Kean.

AJW Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 the chances of keeping Samba would increase if were to bring in 2-3 top PL quality players....problem is . to do that we'll need £15-20m so if venky's don't put that in Then Samba or Phil Jones will have to be sacrificed

We won't be getting top quality. Samba doesn't have the time to hang around, he'll move on. He can do too, if his hearts not in it we'll take the money (if the right offer comes) and run.
Iceman Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 if Samba leaves, then Gabi Millito will be available as well.
bennyboyt11 Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Bassong isn't a replacement for Samba, nowhere near as good
JAL Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 A 'healthy budget' for next season according to Kean in his press conference (Taken from cryers twitter) Lets hope nobody is fooled by this and that come the summer Rovers replace Kean. Just hope nobody buys a season ticket until they have seen positive actions being taken at Ewood rather than just spoken.(beware championship manager brigade)
RoyRover Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 That sounds reasonably feasible. Spurs have so many good players that they just don't use and frankly need to offload. I would take any of:- Bassong, Naughton, Rose, Bentley, Krancjar, O'Hara. I don't think Pavylechenko or Defoe will be interested even if Spurs wanted to let them go. A second advantage is Spurs are (supposedly) frugal with wages so bringing in these players should be affordable. There are few players that Spurs have that I would take in flash. Krancjar, O'Hara and Defoe would be my preference. As for Samba, we should be looking for £15 million for him. That's a fair price for me.

I seem to remember a figure of around £30m being broadcast at the time.

I seem to remember a figure of around £30m being broadcast at the time. Completely different story. He's English, and was already the worlds most expensive defender from his move to Leeds. Players aren't just valued from their actual capacity.

Much better on the ball and not quite as prone to rash challenges.

sparkspakespoke Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 I'm a huge Samba fan but Rio at his best was arguably better. Much better on the ball and not quite as prone to rash challenges. Correct. Samba is a great player for us but you cant compare the situations. Rio was one of the top five defenders in the world, he was younger and he is english.
47er Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Correct. Samba is a great player for us but you cant compare the situations. Rio was one of the top five defenders in the world, he was younger and he is english. All true. We wouldn't get anywhere near 30M for Samba but 10-12M is, as the article described it, "a bargain". And I don't see why we should hand out bargains to clubs that are richer than we are. 15M+.

Providing the new owers are true to theired word about the cash available then we should hold out for 15 million for sure. It will be nice to have no pressure to sell and really play hard ball!
Hughesy Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Stay up & the budget is 'miles bigger' than anything Blackburn have had before....
Backroom Tom Posted May 20, 2011 Backroom Posted May 20, 2011 If Jones stays at Schalke and Samba goes to Spurs I'd look at a deal for both Krancjar and Palacios maybe. The fact is Spurs have plenty of options to look at Krancjar / Palacios / O Hara / Bentley etc but I think it will be around £12m cash which in reality is a decent deal for everyone IMO.
Wilko Rover Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Stay up & the budget is 'miles bigger' than anything Blackburn have had before.... If this is correct, but we somehow get relegated... the 'what ifs' will drive me insane!
