[Archived] Venky's Summer Transfer List

Recommended Posts

I like comments like this. This thread is gonna go balistic after Sunday, cannae wait.

How much are we talking here, 15m-20m? I would hope Samba would want to stay a little while longer if this is the case. This kinda figure spent on right positions could really take us up into the top half of the table if spent wisely.

In order after Premier League status confirmed for next year-

1. Make Junior Hoilett sign a new 5-year deal.

2. Convince Samba to stay till at least Jan/next summer.

3. Sign J.Jones

Lets hope nobody is fooled by this and that come the summer Rovers replace Kean.

Just hope nobody buys a season ticket until they have seen positive actions being taken at Ewood rather than just spoken.(beware championship manager brigade)

1. Sign a contract, hopefully. If not, damn. Can't do too much.

2. Take the money and run (over £10m)

3. If possible, probably not. Shame.

Sorry, beg to differ.

1. Fire Steve Kean.

2. Appoint proven manager with good track record.

3. Then we do the deals with players identified by said manager.

Anything else, and we'd be in for a long and sad season next year. And I still fear a set of freak results tomorrow will send us down.

Would absolutely snap someones hand off if they offered £15million for Samba. Keep Jones, ready made replacement and strengthen other areas that are more pressing (striker).

1. Stay up

2. Sack Kean

3. Appoint someone O'Neill, Jol, Benitiz or whoever else has a good track record and who would instantly be a better option than the current clown

4. Sign the players they want

5. Keep hold of our best young players

6. Try and convince Samba to stay, but if not sell him for a huge profit

But after hearing Steve Kean's comments yesterday I really fear that this guy will be in charge next season. I do think that we will stay up, based solely on the fact that the other teams around us have far more difficult games. If Kean stays then I have no doubt that we will struggle again next season.

What picture? He`s not going to stop supporting Rovers if he doesn`t like the owners is he?

No offence but that is one of the more ridiculous posts of the year on this board and there`s been some contenders...

I wonder if Gabriel agbonlahor will be available from villa? Especially now Darren bent can do his job(much better), meaning his first team chances have decreased at villa.

He could work well with hoilett and olsson, them three would really scare defenders with their pace.

Also I wouldn't mind us taking a punt on Carlos vela if he is cheap enough. Obviously not as our main striker, but he's a good young player, and he can play out wide.

Correct, holding onto key players is more important than signing new ones. With Samba, Jones and Hoilett we know they can perform for Rovers. Signing players is always a gamble, even for established top league individuals. Success rate for expensive signings is, in my totally unscientific estimate, is around 1 in 2.

Still a little bemused by those who want to sign attacking midfielders as a priority. We are relatively well stocked there. Striker and full back are the areas we need to look at. Two top of the range strikers, a backup for J Jones and Nzonzi and a couple of promising full backs (if Morris etc aren't thought to cut it) and we will have an excellent young team. If we go 4231 we will be able to staff the 3 attacking midfield positions with three out of Hoilett, Olsson, Formica, Rochina, Pedersen and Dunn. That is a good selection for me. Perhaps we can upgrade on Dunn and Pedersen but we would need to shift them out at the same time.

Strikers, strikers, strikers should be the transfer mantra after holding onto our key players.

I think we are talking about an attacking central mid-fielder of class. Only a fit Dunn currently meets that definition and he is never fit sadly.I don't include Junior because I prefer him to play wide.

I am under the impression, perhaps incorrect, that Rochina and Formica are both players who are meant for the central attacking midfielder/second striker role. I hope so anyway as otherwise they are going to struggle to get in the team in the wide positions with Hoilett and Olsson around.

Correct, We dont need any CM besides Jones signing IMO.

if we stay up ..we should maybe have a look at some players from tottenham who arent getting a look in but would definatly do a great job for us ....krankjar , bentley , defoe , palacios i could go on - obviously not all but them players ive seen all want first team football - cheeky bids in for a few would help us ...

signing jermaine jones however i think is number 1 piority .

a new left back also - as i see olsson more effective on left wing

Well yeah they are intended to be ones for the future alright but on what basis could anyone assume either would be ready for that role in August? Formica especially could well be struggling to get in the team.

(assuming we are still in the Premier League of course).

Rocinha is a striker, not a midfielder. Every article on the internet refers to him as a striker. And the City game proved that in no way is he up to playing in midfield, though he has a fair amount of potential as a striker.

We haven't even seen Formica play yet, which is worrying.

First priority is to get a chief exec and a football director. Next priority is to keep Samba and Jones as they are potentially 1 of the best centre back pairs in the league. After that it's a midfiled schemer and a goal scorer. Wouldn't mind seeing at least 1 proper full back as well.
