John Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 We must keep hold of our better players, that must be the main aim as well as strengthening. It is going to be very difficult to keep hold of Phil Jones IMO.

bennyboyt11 Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Anyone else hoping Nicko comes back? I used to enjoy the 11pm updates on transfers around the league, also I haven't seen Roberto for a while... Come back you two!
Mercer Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 sorry but I don't want to see an old boys reunion. For me the likes of Warnock RSC etc have had their time at our club and I think its time to move forward. Agreed - they wanted to leave. It didn't wotk out for them, just like others who've left rovers. That's just tough for them. We need hungry, youngish, players. There are plenty about who would improve our squad which certainly needs to be thinned-out of 'deadwood'.
Hasta Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 If we lost Samba and Givet, I would enquire about Scott Dann at Birmingham.
Mercer Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Sign Yakubu to replace Benjani. Sign Krancjar, which would also take the pressure off Formica. Formica HAS to perform next year. A huge investment for Rovers. We can't afford to carry expensive passengers. And of course, snap up Jones. Hasn't Kean already signed Samba's replacement - Chris Smalling, oh sorry, I mean Myles Anderson.
dr_awol Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 signing j.j is a must. as a marquee siging what about peter crouch would work well with olson and hoilett mybe to much wages tho i will say again we should sign david goodwille the guy has come on leaps this year will score 10goals for any epl team and create many more a snip for undwr 3m
BigUts Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Anyone else hear Keen the bean on Talksh1te this morning? He said he was interested in keeping JJ....and RSC! JJ yes, RSC - NO! Too expensive, is @#/? and is also injured all the time. He have enough expensive rubbish crocks already. I'm excited for the summer. It sounds like we'll have some coin for a change! (No pun intended!)
mattyc2422 Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I'd like to keep Dunny around if we can. No doubt the game is starting to pass him by, but I think his passion for the club and football nous is invaluable.
wandel77 Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I dont care who we sign, just as long we find a striker who can bag +15 goals a season then i will be happy.
JAL Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Have to agree, losing Samba would be a HUGE loss for us. He gives us so much in games it's hard to see how we'll replace that. Too true bennyboy11, reading some of the so called supporters claims on this thread of who will leave Rovers and who they'd like to sign is depressing to say the least.
Majiball Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 It is going to be very difficult to keep hold of Phil Jones IMO. I would imagine Jones would stay provided he's happy with everything, he is a rover after all and has a long career ahead of him. He needs to stay longer as here he will play week in week out and that's exactly what is development needs, will a city/arsenal give him that? Arsenal maybe, but I think they want bigger fish - Samba as he's currently better than Jones. Hoillets the one for me that could cause the most issue as he was reluctant last time and we're not in the same position as we were then after this season. The other one I think people will be looking at is Robbo, I believe he didn't sign his contract for life..
Oklahoma Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Well, it's my time for some unrealistic dream signings for next season. As usual, most of these players are playing in Portugal. But, first, the players that should leave: Grella, Andrews, RSC, Mame Diouf, Benjani, Goulon, Jason Brown, Linganzi, El-Hadji Diouf. The team should be built around these players: Robinson, Phil Jones, Olsson, N'Zonzi, Hoillet. Only loanee that should be signed: Jermaine Jones. Players to keep due to their experience: Nelsen, Dunn, Salgado Players that could be sold, if a good offer comes: Samba (I'm afraid that if he stays, he won't perform as well as he normally does), Pedersen, Emerton, Kalinic. Now, the signings: Manager: Andre Vilas Boas, current FC Porto manager. Had a fantastic season, won 4 of the 5 titles they played for. Left Back: Fabio Coentrao - Benfica want to sell him, already one of the best left backs in the world. Centre back: Rolando - FC Porto and Portugal Centre midfielder: Manuel Fernandes (on loan at Besiktas), Joao Moutinho (FC Porto) Offensive midfielder: Salvio (Atletico madrid) Strikers: Hulk and Falcão ( best strikers in portuguese league and in europe league, Hulk is harder because is release clause in unrealistic), Cardozo (Benfica want to sell him and it will be for less than €20 million). There are a few players in the relegated teams that could be good signings. But, please, no players back. They have been underperfoming for so many years, they wouldn't improve the team.
chaddyrovers Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Imagine if we do have £20m Chaddy would have a field day with Champ manager suggestions Get a life Like I have said before I do not play Champ Manager. The reason I know more players than you is because I watch alot about football from around Europe on Sky and ESPN. Anyway enough with that we need a right back, left back, winger, 2 strikers at least. Plus we need to sign J Jones permanent and give Hoilett a new 5 year contract plus keep Samba, Robinson, P Jones and Olsson at the club. Right back :- Clyde from Palace, Left back :- Izaguirre from Celtic, Warnock from Villa Winger :- Bentley from Spurs, Larsson from Brum Strikers :- Ba from WHU, Sturridge from Cheslea, Hoarau from PSG, Owen from Man Utd on a free, maybe RSC if he is cheap, C Cole from WHU. I would mind us signing Vaughan from Blackpool on a free as long as we get rid of Grella, Andrews, Goulan plus Benjani. Let Mama Diouf go to man utd. No Doubt I will get call for suggesting these names.
Stavros_BRFC Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 RSC? REALLY? Clyde would be a really good addition and Sally can teach him some things too I would also like to see Pablo Piatti and Carlton Cole in a Rovers' Shirt
Stockport rover Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Bothroyd has just been released from cardiff ... any thoughts on bringing him back? http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12875_6946944,00.html
CrazyIvan Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Bothroyd has just been released from cardiff ... any thoughts on bringing him back? http://www.skysports...6946944,00.html Erm... nah
bennyboyt11 Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I don't think he'd offer what we're looking for, perhaps something for one of the newly promoted sides to take up. Quite surprised he's been released though, same year as his England call up.
The Harwood Yankee Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I would also like to see Pablo Piatti and Carlton Cole in a Rovers' Shirt They might stretch it a bit...
braddock Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Andrews has to go. I like the guy, but numbskull fans mean he creates a negative atmosphere, and it's embarrassing for everyone. If he wasn't booed I'd be more than happy with him staying and keep playing a bit part when we need him because he's not good enough to start and is very limited - just how you imagine a Rovers substitute to be. I have no interest in signing RSC. I think he's a liability and is too worried about his fitness so can't offer full commitment in challenges etc. El Diouf will be on his way, and that's fine by me. Mama Diouf would be too pricey for a player who I don't think would be a starter. Jermaine Jones would be a phenomenal signing and is exactly what we need. I hope we can secure him. If not, somebody of a similar ilk. I think Samba will go, but I think in Jones we have his replacement, although he offers something different. Nelsen is the one who needs replacing (thinking long term - hopefully he'll be fine next season). I doubt we'll sign a superstar defender but we need an extra body at the back. Someone solid. A striker is a must.
Majiball Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 One of these please Preferably one near the top of the page. Gaminero would do or sow. Oh and I await our gala signing.
True Blue & White Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Am I the only one that doesn't think Jermaine Jones is that good? Every time I see him he seems to be giving away a needless free kick the opponents score from.
Toodling Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Am I the only one that doesn't think Jermaine Jones is that good? Every time I see him he seems to be giving away a needless free kick the opponents score from. Yes. The free kick he "gave away" at wolves was a dive from Hunt for me.
gumboots Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 One of these please Preferably one near the top of the page. Gaminero would do or sow. Oh and I await our gala signing. Gameiro wants champions league and is being courted by several clubs around Europe. He doesn't create his own chances but has relied in previous seasons on Vahirua setting them up for him and this season on Morgan Amalfitano, who has one of the best assist records in Ligue 1. Amalfitano is available on a free and Arsenal are supposed to be interested in taking both Gameiro and Amalfitano. Lorient are pretty much resigned to losing Gameiro this season but Loic Fery will not take less than he thinks Gameiro is worth and that is at least 12 million, but given the interest from several top clubs, could go higher.
