[Archived] Venky's Summer Transfer List

Gameiro wants champions league and is being courted by several clubs around Europe. He doesn't create his own chances but has relied in previous seasons on Vahirua setting them up for him and this season on Morgan Amalfitano, who has one of the best assist records in Ligue 1. Amalfitano is available on a free and Arsenal are supposed to be interested in taking both Gameiro and Amalfitano. Lorient are pretty much resigned to losing Gameiro this season but Loic Fery will not take less than he thinks Gameiro is worth and that is at least 12 million, but given the interest from several top clubs, could go higher.

Fair do's I haven't seen much of Amalfitano, but he does have some impressive stat's.

My link

Looks like he's a set piece man as well as it appears he takes corners, given MGP is abou the best we have it would be good to get in someone who can hit a deadball. Thanks for the info, gumboots. I've heard that Lilles Sow is one Wenger really wants, but I know which Lille player I'd like Hazard.

Miroslav Klose would be a good signing :tu:

I think he's a good player but he's hardly a prolific scorer unless playing for Germany. He's only scored 5 in 26 and 6 in 38 games in the past 2 seasons for Bayern - a team that creates many many chances. I very much doubt he'd move outside Germany now!

Mercer have you really just said we can't afford expensive passengers yet in another thread advocated keeping hold of wobbly legs Kalinic?

Jamie O'hara has been mentioned before. Looks like he is desperate to join Wolves. A £5 million transfer fee has been set and agreed as part of the loan deal, however the deal needs to be done within a week or i am guessing he is available to all.

'Arrys take on the deal

Carlton Cole is woeful, don't want him anywhere near this club. I have several WHU supporting friends, and have watched almost as many WHU games as Rovers games the past few seasons, and save for one purple patch he's been atrocious. Check out any of the Carlton Cole threads on KUMB.com (West Ham forum), most of their fans loathe him

Anyone else hoping Nicko comes back? I used to enjoy the 11pm updates on transfers around the league, also I haven't seen Roberto for a while... Come back you two! :tu:

Agreed. why did Nicko leave anyway.

Agreed. He always has a little spurt just before England seem to play, people declare him as being England material and he ends up in the squad.

Am I the only one that doesn't think Jermaine Jones is that good? Every time I see him he seems to be giving away a needless free kick the opponents score from.

Jermaine Jones started badly imo. But then progressed each match. I think Nzonze has helped him a bit as well. I think his game improved when Nzonze came back from injury. Worth keeping on imo.

I'm stunned you think Jermaine Jones isn't that good, he's filled a position that's been vacant since Savage left, comfortable on the ball, can pass and can tackle, very good player, are you watching the same player as the rest of us??????

I can't believe it either. J.J. has literally become my favorite player this season. I've never seen a player able to run like him before. As you said like Savage except Jones has a fantastic burst of acceleration, probably better in the tackle, covers an unbelievable amount of ground and is actually half decent going forwards. Signing him up for next season is going to be one of the defining factors to whether or not we are successful.

Yes.

JJ is a different class, he needs to be top of our agenda this summer along with keeping hold of his namesake.

I'd sign J Jones as well, Only one reservation about his play - he doesn't look like he's got the odd goal in him unfortunately.

I'd let RSC and Diouff the younger go back to their previous clubs, I wouldn't want either of them back even on a free.

I'd let Dunny, MGP, Andrews, Grella, Benjani, Diouff the elder go. Keep Emmo because he can play in several positions, very useful to have on the bench if need be. I'd also keep Kalinic and possibly Roberts ( if one of the newly promoted teams come in for him with a decent bid he can go also ) They may also be a few fringe players moved on , Unfortunately Grella will probably be un-sellable.

I'd keep the nucleus that keep us up if at all possible. We've got a few good Premier League standard players, Robbo, Samba, The two Jones boys, Hoilett most of the time, Ollsen and Nzonzi some of the time. Givet, Salgado will do for now but I'm worried that Salgado will fall of the footballing cliff suddenly.

I'm not impressed with some of the "Incoming" names being mentioned. Larrson- right sided MGP, Bentley- busted flush, couldn't even star in a poor Not so Big Club side, Michael Owen- too expensive and where would he play in a 4-5-1. Hitzlespurger I like a lot, he gets the odd thunderbolt as well, if J Jones goe's he'd do me. Charlie Adam- out grown the likes of us this season, Top six club next ?

J. Jones and spend on a striker. Bring in a young right back (not Myles Anderson) and a specialist left back, as well as a replacement for Samba and we've got ourselves a team:

Robinson

Salgado/young cougar - P. Jones - Givet/Samba replacement - New player/Givet (Danny Rose from Spurs?)

Hoilett - J. Jones - N'Zonzi - Olsson

New striker (D. Sturridge?) - Rochina

20m blown but our first XI would look pretty solid I think.

FYI, Jermaine Jones was named to the USA Gold Cup (CONCACAF regional tournament) squad this afternoon (and friendly versus Spain on June 4).

Hope that means the business side of things will be conducted faster...

Jones has been brilliant his energy, passing and positioning are spot on. Giving away free kicks in dangerous areas is just a hazard that comes with playing as a DM, just like Pens as a goalkeeper.
