Come on, 10m really? I'll believe it when I see it. I figured 3-4m was the price.

i think it will be 10m, hope it is less but i doubt it, as he has played brilliantly and will have impressed his new manager at Schalke who got to the semi final of CL but its a good job they finished in a low position in there league.

Very good player but I would steer well clear at 10 million. 5 would have to be the absolute maximum but I think Venky's will be keen to look all big time this summer and Kean will only be too happy to go along with it. I doubt anyone has considered the consequences. Who will be negotiating the deals, by the way? Anderson?

We've stayed up now, the owners should take the chance to calm down and get the club organised. In terms of the squad we only need two or three decent signings if we concentrate on keeping what we have.

I've stolen this from a comment on the LT but saves me writing the same thing..this is mostly what I've noticed about JJ too...

Also, J Jones - 15 games no goals and no assists. Not good enough for a box to box mid fielder.

.

He gives away far to many free kicks, and stupid/ costly ones. Blackpool esp. (Also at Wolves.)

.

He also fails to mark at crucial times.

He was blatantly at fault for the Hitzlsperger WHU goal - appalling marking that cost us two points. Also the two goals scored by Mcarthy at Wigan.

.

He flatters. Check out his stats. What he actually does is poor. We can spend that money on someone that actually looks like they can create a chance or that can defend properly. J Jones does neither very well.

Now I don't think he's crap before anyone accuses me of saying that, I just don't think he's the Micheal Essien type people are making him out to be. If we genuinely have £20m to spend (I doubt that) then I wouldn't mind £4m being used on him but to spend half of it on him and make him our record signing, not for me. Again I'm not saying he doesn't improve our first 11 but for £10m I think we could do better.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already but I was mightily impressed with Blackpool's Gary Taylor-Fletcher this year. He's big, strong and knows where the goal is. Hugely unglamorous I know but I wouldn't mind Rovers taking a punt.

'hughly unglamourous' is just fine.... just try attracting the charlie bigheads from London up to Blackburn.......

Give me a hungry player over the dreck and dross from the relegated sides or out of contract famous boys.

Whatever happens I hope Rovers;

1)get their main signings done early doors this year

2)actually have specific targets and not opportunistic ones like Kalinic.

There are going to be a few clubs with money chasing strikers this year with Newcastle, stoke, sunderland all likely to be competing in the same price bracket as us and that's just in this country.

Defoe and Hoillet as our front two, well that would seriously limit the way we play.

I'd take Crouch before Defoe, but feel both would be out of our reach.

Agree, there is no balance between Defoe and Hoilett, Crouch yes, Maybe Pavalychenko, but defoe and Hoilett would simply not work, we would be too predictable in the way we play.

I would be happy with Hoilett and Pavalychenko plus one more - Sturridge, Crouch is not a bad shout, because of his height, which Hoilett lacks. As well as Adams.

Keeping JJ, Samba, Phil Jones, Hoilett.

Signing Adams,Pavalychenko, Crouch and Sturridge - would in my opinion be a good improvement to the squad.

If i were venky's i would like my glamour signings in early like before the asia tournement ,then they'll have something to show off in their own continent , plus it would also help with ST sales

No thanks to Bendtner, I remember seeing him against us a while back at the Emirates, he could have had about 5 against us but missed chance after chance, an Arsenal fan at work describes Bendtner as a player who thinks he's better than he actually is.

Defoe and Junior could be very similar to Cole and Yorke. Defoe on the last man (ala Cole) and Junior dropping off in the hole using his football brain (Yorke).

We don't have the quality behind them to play that way, we'd need a whole midfield and we wouldn't be a able to play direct with much effect.

Andy Cole is also the 2nd highest scorer of headed goals in premier league history, I'm not sure I've ever seen Defoe score one (probably has, but rare as rocking horse pooh)

I suggested Crouch as I expect Samba to leave, he's been more than vocal about and after he signed his new I've never had a big pay contract. I'm not sure all realise on here how much weaker we will be defensively and attacking wise (set pieces), he always gets his head on the ball and if he goes we will really miss that.

I can't believe some people calling for Hargreaves & Owen I did not know we are running a residential form for the perpetually sick & frail  we already have Grella/Dunn/RSC-had sign anymore and we will be known as a retirement home for the sick-note prem.Lge players to even consider Hargreaves who hasn't played in 3 years is beyond belief & to think of putting money into signing the likes of them is just plain stupid. However Bellamy is a good shout has exceptional pace & would definitely fit in but I think he has his heart set on going back to Cardiff to try helping them back into the prem but my cat would be over the moon if Bellers came back asd she is named after him! I think tho signing someone like Bothroyd would be good not bad scoring record is big would suit our style of play & has decent ball retention & bringing others into the game & is a free transfer might even get him on fairly low wages would definitely worth asking but have to admit when fit hitszelspurger when fit is not a bad player but is too injury prone & in his thirtys would be a massive risk.

I am not really in favour of Marquee signings, perhaps Beckham as a commercial enterprise (and he would still give us a decent game, its more we should be looking at balance in the side, The spine of the side is built first, Keeper, Centre back and Striker,

at present we have the keeper and centre backs in place, we desperately need a quality striker, they dont come cheaply but if we are to progress thats what we need, Sunderland did OK with Bent, dived when he left and Bent kept Villa up this season, without him they would have been goosed.

For me, like Majiball, Crouch or a young Carew type player would be my choice but there arent many around and would be in huge demand.
