[Archived] Venky's Summer Transfer List

Recommended Posts

hmm I do wonder if thats a bit too cheap, but great ideas if your right

Well, i think we'll have money to spend but i don't think it will be as much as what peaople are expecting. I think Keano will have to spend wisely with a pot of 12-15 mill to play with, which is far better than what we've been used to and also sensible if we need to strengthen in January as to not blow it all at once.

The importance of signing a goalscorer is (as we all know) top priority this summer, as well as keeping our best talent. Someone mentioned over on roverstalk that there are rumours of Kevin Gameiro and Solomon Rondon who are both on Kentaro's books. Both excellent players, Gameiro has 21 league goals in France but he will probably end up at Sevilla or Valencia for around 12-15. Rondon on the other hand is far more realistic.

Forwards:

Podolski (Bit speculative perhaps)

Rondon

Anelka (Going on for 33! Wages?)

Keane

Owen

Bellamy

RVN

Vagner Love

El Hamdaoui

Jo

On a seperate point... I wonder if Victor Vazquez from Barca will happen this summer? Is he not on a free? I remember Nicko was reporting on this, He very much missed on here i must say... Shame.

To be quite honest if we get another midfielder rather than jermaine jones we would do better the midfield is like the engine yet he gives too many fouls away and loses the ball quite regualry

So you don't rate J.Jones? Personally I think he's played amazingly and if he had been with us from the start, he'd of been our player of the season by a country mile.

Who would you suggest instead to play box to box? (realistically)

Sturridge from Chelsea ideal signing for us,a left full back possibility Warnock Aston Villa.

Sturridge won't happen. He's been pretty open about how he intended to show what he could do when given 1st team football and is looking to break in to the Chelsea team next season.

But I'd love to see Warnock back tho. Apparently he's past it according to some people on here....

I think you'll be waiting a while for Vazquez to join considering he completed a move to club brugge a few weeks ago.. :D

Davulsukur, there is no right or wrong really in football just differing opinions as most systems, styles etc can be made to work. I wasn't trying to imply you were wrong just really wanted to explain why I don't think its the best role for him.

Trouble is if we set-up like that were does Junior play? His best showings have come in the hole this year and last (arsenal away), so I want to keep him there as we also have Formica and Dunn who play there and really if we shift to that set-up in midfield we basically have 3 players who will not be playing in their positions and they are some of our most creative players. Also I'm keen to see us maintain that shape as we can attack in all three area's both flanks and centrally when we play Junior in there and that would hopefully lead to more goal scoring chances as defending just the flanks makes lie easier for the opposition.

Personally felt jones is more suited to sit just right infront of the defences to provide cover. but am not comfortable in playing both jones and Nzonzi together. Nzonzi seldom does forward passing and jones forward passing lacks accuracy + creativity. its either 1 of them to play depending on who we up against. we should look in our attacking department more during this summer. not only the striker but also the options of attack to conclude who to bring in.

robinson

salgado/emerton - Nelson/Givet - Phil Jones - ??? (someone that can make an odd run attack)

JJ/Nzonzi

Kranjar(perfect for us) - formica (hoping he become good)/ Dunn/pederson - Ollson

Hoilett (free role)

Rochinda/???? (someone strong)

I said this earlier, and PSG are also interested. According to reports the other day 'Arry is also eying him up for Spurs. He's very much a confidence player who needs to build up an understanding with players around him. His goals this season have come as a result of his pairing with Amalfitano, as i said earlier. Last season he was nowhere near as good, whilst still scoring plenty, after Vahirua left Lorient for Nancy. The money in France earlier in the season was always on his going to Spain, but they seem to lean now towards PSG. He wants Champions League football, presumably as that would help cement his place in the French squad.

Some of the names being thrown out on here are just rediculous and embarrasing. Personally i think Micheal Owen would be perfect, he seems well over his injury problems and definately worth taking a risk on as he could bag 10-20 goals if he does stay fit... Where's the risk if he on a free? "Marquee" Signing for Venky's and a goalscorer for the team and fans. I hear he will only be offered a pay as you play at United so...

Some other names:

Bellamy (Loan? Free?)

Bentley (No more than 3 mill)

Bassong (On the cheap IF Samba goes)

Jo (Was signed for 19 mill, cheeky 3 mill bid?)

Joe Cole (Free, cheap?)

Armand Traore (From Arsenal, was on loan at Juve last season.. 1.5 mill?)

Rosicky (Bit part player at Arsenal now)

Podolski (Only at Koln, the big move ain't coming... If we have the funds)

Micheal Ciani (Bordeaux, French int, He's a beast. 5 mill?).

[

Don't want Michael Owen, Too expensive, been injured too often, and more important- where would you play him in the 4-5-1 system we'll be playing ? quote]

Fair enough challenge chaps perhaps I should have been a bit more precise on Seb Larsson. I did a quick search on him and came up with this from way back in April :

http://www.football.co.uk/sunderland/sunderland_ponder_move_for_birmingham_winger_sebastian_larsson_rss1650207.shtml

He's "15M rated" I should have said, so Sunderland aren't expecting to lay that amount of cash out. Hardly the best source I know but I was curious where we might be in that particular pecking order. I'm sure Nicko said he was nailed on coming to us. Mind you it won't be the first time I've been wrong. I'm getting old.

Scott Sinclair.

This guy any good?

He's looked very, very good in the Championship... but obviously the step up to the Premier League is a massive one. I don't think we'd be wise to pay too much for him in case it didn't work out at a higher level for him, but fora low-ish price with potential add-ons depending on appearances etc it'd be worth a shot imo.

If reports of a 20M transfer budget are correct then we ought to be a top ten club next season easily. If nobody goes we need 4 players only imo------J Jones($4M?), a left-back----Warnock(2-3M?), creative central mid-fielder-----Bentley(4-6M?) and a striker who can score 15 goals a season.

These are only examples, anyone can put different names to the list but I'd be happy with that.

We'd have 7-10M to spend on a striker and more if Samba went. With plenty of experienced depth and such talent in the youth ranks the next few years can be golden years again.

All it takes is for the right players to be bought at the right price. No Beckhams or Robinhos and (no Myles Andersons either)!

I'd be wary of re-signing Bentley & Warnock, if only because of the "curse of RSC" [Never go back].

When Bentley flourished with us, he was managed by Sparky, who, imo, is the only manager to have got anything out of him.

I'd be a bit less worried about Warnock coming back; I felt sorry for him when Houllier, who'd obviously never really rated him at Liverpool, was appointed to succeed O'Neill.

Personally I would spend very little on full backs and midfielders (Jones aside), and focus the vast majority of the money on two decent strikers. That is what we need - we only have two proper forwards with Benjani, M B Diouf and RSC all finishing loans/contracts (and hopefully not coming back). Olsson is probably going to end up at left back and we can't really sign Bentley unless we shift at least couple out of Dunn, Pedersen, Emerton and EH Diouf. Emerton's storming end to the season inclines me to say Rovers should keep him.

Well its all about opinions but I do not agree with you about Ollson. He is far too good an attacker just to have the odd foray up the flank and his defensive skills are nowhere near those of Givet.

I think Warnock and Ollson on the left wing would be awesome!

anybody not fancy a punt on DJ Campbell? He scored 13 goals for Blackpool last season and he has a 1.25m buyout clause. Nice and cheap and knows where the net is

I don't think that's too bad a shout. He's not the slowest either. Pretty strong for a little un. I'd have him at that price, plus two others. Demba Ba and Michael Owen. I'd certainly have Steve Warnock back and I also think Steve Kean could use David Bentley in the right way and get the best out of him.

Demba Ba

Daniel Sturridge

Jermaine Jones (no more than £6m)

Niko Krancjar (no more than £5m)

Specialist left back – NOT Warnock or Bridge

Top 8 = EASY

Unless we've talked up JJ price, there is no way Schalke would want more than double than what they paid for someone who never played regularly for them. More along the 3-4 million Euro range in my opinion, although they may hold us to ransom.

Sturridge I feel may figure under the new Chelsea team, but Ba is a good shout. I'd easily move for Krancjar too but I cant see where he would fit IF Formica is supposed to come through well.

We could look for a left back in France, they have quite a few decent ones there right now.
