For me that's a no brainer - sign him up! If we start a fighting club, obviously!!

For me that's a no brainer - sign him up! He's on £60,000 a week at the moment, and if they can't agree on a new deal then you have to assume he's asked for a considerable increase on that. Even at £60,000 a week he's probably out of a price range.
Mozzer Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 we could sell keith andrews for 1million - and the same price could buy joey barton ? haha for a striker - id consider looking at jermaine defoe - he isnt getting much of a look in at tottenham - and he knows where the net is ... but for most piority = jermaine jones
davulsukur Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 anybody not fancy a punt on DJ Campbell? He scored 13 goals for Blackpool last season and he has a 1.25m buyout clause. Nice and cheap and knows where the net is DJ For 1.25 million, its not a bad shout. 13 goals is a decent return.
47er Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Unless we've talked up JJ price, there is no way Schalke would want more than double than what they paid for someone who never played regularly for them. More along the 3-4 million Euro range in my opinion, although they may hold us to ransom. Sturridge I feel may figure under the new Chelsea team, but Ba is a good shout. I'd easily move for Krancjar too but I cant see where he would fit IF Formica is supposed to come through well. We could look for a left back in France, they have quite a few decent ones there right now. We really cannot depend on Formica making it. If he does-----great. But we need insurance and competition.
BuckyRover Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 FFS. Why do some football fans obsess over Barton? Does it make people feel macho to be seen to publicly want a lunatic in the dressing room? Not even taking into account his past, he attacked one of OUR players.
Al Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Another Nicko story : http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Newcastle-transfer-news-Joey-Barton-could-move-for-as-little-as-1million-this-summer-potentially-interesting-Tottenham-and-Everton-article740827.html Joey Barton can leave for as little as £1m. For me that's a no brainer - sign him up! No brainer? I think you mean 'No brain'. I say 'No way in our shirt'.
Torgeir Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Demba Ba Daniel Sturridge Jermaine Jones (no more than £6m) Niko Krancjar (no more than £5m) Specialist left back – NOT Warnock or Bridge Top 8 = EASY I completely agree. Barton could also do a job in midfield for us..
jonv Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Ancelotti to QPR is what I've heard. Not that it matters us :!:
ABBEY Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I completely agree. Barton could also do a job in midfield for us.. Clubs job or cigar job or drunken gbh jobs...horrible despicable scouse scumbag..makes spit look like a daint
Ricky Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 So Barton is a no no due to his past behaviour yet people want us to sign DJ Campbell. stabby stabby
Iceman Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 post #14. Brilliant hahaha, Emons is well funny Mum. I cant say i miss the official boards anymore. I normally just read through it, and its lost its spark.
RovertheHill Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 So Barton is a no no due to his past behaviour yet people want us to sign DJ Campbell. stabby stabby Well I'd start with Barton is a no-no because he's not a 60 grand a week player. If we're after paying that for a player there's better than him
BuckyRover Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 So Barton is a no no due to his past behaviour yet people want us to sign DJ Campbell. stabby stabby He was released without charge! It's a completely different!

ABBEY Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 He was released without charge! It's a completely different! Was he released twice?
Iceman Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 If we sign Barton, then i think i would be mad as hell. We have had this debate on countless occasions, as talented as he may be, his off and on field issues is not what we want at the club. This guy will cause so many problems, problems we can do without, having already survived a torrid season. There are so many midfielders, guys like Krankjar, Palacios, Noble, Gio Dos Santos etc.. All it takes is for somebody within the management team(if the manager is not able to see it), to approach these players clubs, and ask how much for him. If the fees are too high, we move on.
SergioPeter89 Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Where is Nicko btw? I love his 11`o clocker. Anyone know if he comes on here this window?
Fraserkirky Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Need to get a legal bid in for Demba Ba ASAP. He's a good fit up front for us, and for around 6-8m haven't seen any better suggestions. Barton is a hell of a footballer, if we signed him we would be better for sure. Nutcase and big wages though. Still like the Palacios and J.Jones combo better for midfield. I'm well in the mood for the 11 o'clockers to begin as well.
bennyboyt11 Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 DJ Campbell only scored 13 goals as Blackpool create so many chances with their attacking play, he would get no-where near that many goals for us or many other teams. He fluffed the majority of his chances.
Hughesy Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 He's on £60,000 a week at the moment, and if they can't agree on a new deal then you have to assume he's asked for a considerable increase on that. Even at £60,000 a week he's probably out of a price range. He wanted a 4 year deal, on LESS money than his current wage….Newcastle didn’t want to offer him any deal. Im sorry but at £1m it’s a bargain!! Sign him up – yes he is a bad boy, but he is a quality midfielder who scores goals, can take set pieces and gets stuck in. Keith Andrews cost us more than that, Grella cost 3 times more! They offer nothing!! Yes they might be good boys who behave every week, but this is football – it’s about having the best FOOTBALL team you can and getting as good results as possible, Barton offers us a better chance than either of those. It’s not about players who have affairs, fight, get locked up, spit at people, beat their wives up etc…..

gumboots Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 that Amalfitano is some player, and like you said Mrs G, without him Gameiro would not have scored so many. wouldn't mind him here. Unfortunately it looks like he's going to Marseille according to Francefootball
chaddyrovers Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I would go for Demba Ba for sure. Quality player who has scored goals in the PL. Also maybe we should put a bid in for Sturridge aswell. Kean has also said he wants RSC back permanent! so 2 of those 3 players. I would sign J Jones permanent if we can't sign him then go for Palacios. Also would like us to David Vaughan for a free. Was Blackpool second best player behind Adam. I would sign Seb Larrson on a free because he is a quality winger who is good at crossing the ball and good at set pieces. I would go for Clyde from Palace. very good promising right back would a good future in the game. I also think we need a proper left back in aswell. I would get rid of Grella, Andrews, let Benjani go, Goulan, Linganzi, EHD, let MD go back to Man Utd. I think Givet will go back to France aswell. But we MUST KEEP Samba, P Jones, Olsson, Hoilett, Robinson at the club and built the team around them.

As i said, talented footballer, but a right ol nutcase. For a squad like ours, who basically work hard to gain as much points as we possibly can. is it a good idea to sign a player, who could do something stupid, and then we lose him for either through a ban, or locked up etc. Can we afford to carry this type of player, when we already carrying the likes of Andrews and Grella?
