Nicko told us so during the transfer thread.

If true, I apologise.

But there was still no need to bleat on about even after the window was closed.

Edit. Thinking back didn't Nicko say that there was no interest in Barton because at that particular time he was "Mr. Newcastle", and there wasn't much point?

The point I was trying to make at the time was Barton was a proven player more than capable at premiership standard, yet, we got a dropped thirty year old yank on loan for a fair bit of money, but for only a short period of time.

Do you know that Kenny said Mark Atkins had the ability to move the ball forward more quickly than anyone in the team, Andrews cant even move the ball forward slowly, its sideways, backwards or to the opposition!

Don't worry pal. If there's one shining light in the whole sorry saga it's that at the end of this we'll be at the halfway stage of his contract. The most damming thing for me is the number of times I see a pass that should go to Keith over looked for a much harder ball to someone else. It's just never going to work out for the lad here, but in the same vein he's probably on his best contract ever at Rovers and he won't and quite rightly give that up. Halfway, Halfway.

But that's only in your head of course, because I distinctly remember a large number of forward balls from him. I definitely remember the ball moving forward for the goals he scored - I'm guessing in your head the goal posts moved backwards instead though

I saw him make a quality forward pass the other day at Villa.

That's a great post - very funny

But sort of suggests nobody should comment about anything to do with football, which is kind of the point of messageboards no?

Nah I just felt like having a dig at the playground attitude of the people who were turning this into the Insult Keith Andrews thread. I don't rate him either but given the vastly inferior experience and ability of the people insulting the guy compared to the guy himself, it'd be nice to see an ounce of respect involved. Nothing at all wrong with reasoned criticism but fans who aggressively insult our own players always get my back up. Just personal preference though, they seem to enjoy it enough.

Booing him before he's even started to play says it all really.

I've felt that he's degraded as a player badly as criticism has been laid on him more and more. When he played his first few games for us, people gave him a chance and he did well, but with every mistake or below par performance came a torrent of abuse. Football is a confidence game, if Andrews has even a tiny drop of it left in him, I would be very surprised.

There's a number of factors that go against him unfortunately, and most of them aren't even footballing reasons. I don't think much can ever be done about that.

I'll claim the 442 one.

Who did the Andrews Liverpool classic?

T4E own up

The rest are all mine.

I do love Keef though. I regularly pose for photos with him. He's very polite and always asks nicely.

He may be a poor player at this level but I can't bring myself to dislike him, it's not like any of us would turn down that sort of moeny is it?

I actually think he has a pretty decent shot on him but seems terrified to shoot at home due to the fans already being on his back as he pulls his leg back.

I remember him putting in an absolutely world class block at Ewood last season Hendry style and came home and read people saying he was trying to get out of the way, that pretty much sums it up for me. If he scored a last minute winner at Wolves to keep us up people would probably claim we were only down there because of him anyway.

Well. Aren't you, most of you, big brave boys?

I would call you bully boys.

The way you hound KA is disgraceful. It reminds me of the way young Germans were sucked in by the nazis to hate the jews.

The recent pages of this thread make me feel sick.

That is just a tad over the top.

Comparing people who's opinion does not match your own to Nazi's is sick.

Get a grip.

Saying he's pish on a messageboard isn't hounding him, and is nothing like the Nazi's you big girl's blouse.

Remember when he played right back? I thought he looked half decent... Just me?!

Don't recall him doing anything amazing, though I would agree it was one of his better games.

Bazza, if you don't like KA then your a Nazi now then?

That is a terrible comparison mate, and IMO makes light of the Jewish plight during that period of history.

I have to admit that I'm not Keith's greatest fan but it's all getting a bit silly now.

Things Rovers are difficult to cope with at the moment, we all need to pull together and support ALL the players.

One thing's for sure, this stuff isn't going to stop until he leaves the club. Whether that is for a transfer or he actually retires from playing after another 4 years or so, I don't know.

We can belly-ache all we like but I doubt it will change anything. Unless there really is a crackpot plan to only play him in away games.

Whatever, we have to get on with things. It will make me chuckle if he gets the winner against Blackpool.

Nothing wrong with Andrews as a person I'm sure. It's just that he would be a long long way away from starting a match for the the first team if I was ever the manager.

From being very critical in the opening weeks of 2008 I've eased back as no matter how good or bad he is all this constant criticism will only make him worse and I don't agree with turning him into a scapegoat. Far better players than KA suffer from lack of confidence from time to time and to the best of my knowledge none of em play better when they are in the middle of a confidence slump or are constantly reminded to doubt their own ability. At the end of the day KA doesn't pick himself does he? Nor can he drop himself for that matter.

It's the constant vitriol against one player that I don't like. That's all.

You wont stop it Bazza.

Look, this is a professional sport we're talking about, - and professional sport is tough. It calls for strength of character. If you aint got that, you're going to struggle. I wont boo Andrews, but plenty will and he's got to cope with it by going out onto the park and performing. If he can't do that, then maybe he's in the wrong job. No room for sentiment.

Keith Andrews is technically no worse than Shefki Kuqi and not far behind Robbie Savage, both relative favourites with the fans. Why? Because they went out there and at least looked like they were giving everything - chasing the ball, hounding the opposition, tackling etc. If Keith at least did this when picked he'd get a damn better reaction than his pointing and marking space approach does. Certainly from me anyway

That's partly true mate....

When Downing broke down the right he was the only rovers player who could have cut him off or at least made it difficult for him, but he just ambles around, no urgency, he should have busted his gut to get to downing and his attitude on top of his obvious technical frailties means that he should never play again for us. Championship player at best.

Spot on Theno. We who have played the game at a decent level know the effect that so called supporters booing a player has on the whole team

. It is not just the player these idiots single out that suffer, it is ALL the team and it leads to arguing and general disruption in the dressing room. Which is the very last thing that Rovers need right now.
