Iceman Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I was chatting to 2 mates of mine, 1 a Spurs supporter, the other a Man United one. We were discussing the January transfer window, and both were in agreement, that Rovers missed a trick. What they said, was that instead of chasing a marquee signing, we should have gone for those fringe players at other clubs. They are of the opinion, that Rovers needed a season or 2 of stability, and to get our house in order 1st before trying to attract a big name or 2. It got me thinking, that the following players would have improved the team immediately, and would have not needed time to get up to speed. It may or may not have been everybodys liking, but would have been the sensible moves. Roman Pavyluchenko Jamie O Hara Giovanni Dos Santos Daniel Sturridge Darren Gibson Shaun Wright Philips Niko Kranckjar Eidur Gudjohnsson Tuncay I'm trying to think of a few more, but that would have been so much better. If there are others, add them.

Hughesy Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 . It may or may not have been everybodys liking, but would have been the sensible moves. Roman Pavyluchenko - if we had a spare £10m+ maybe....why pay over inflated fees for him? Jamie O Hara - No proof about his fitness Giovanni Dos Santos - never done anything in the prem Daniel Sturridge - ok saying that now hes scored a few for bolton....didnt see any suggestions about him previously Darren Gibson - United wouldnt let him go. Shaun Wright Philips - Over Hoilett? No thanks. Niko Kranckjar - Agreed....but again would have set us back minimum of £7-9m Eidur Gudjohnsson - Whats he done in last 2 years? Tuncay - Maybe/ Maybe not...hardly set the world alight at Stoke I'm trying to think of a few more, but that would have been so much better. If there are others, add them.
grizfoot Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Gibson was playing second fiddle to Keith Andrews for the Irish national team last season.
LDRover Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 O'Hara is a standout and in the position that we are the weakest. Even if he wasn't fit at the time we deemed it necessary to sign two foreigers who 'aren't ready yet'.

Weren't you the guy who put a bet on at William Hill that we'd make a £5m+ signing?
