  1. 1. Should Steve Kean stay or go

I think its getting pretty obvious who's calling the shots around here. Kentaro probably said sack Allardyce and put Steve Keantaro in charge till the end of the season, minimal risk because we were in no trouble at the time. As you would have expected us to scrape enough wins to survive and probably not expecting the league to be so tight.

I wonder if Venkys have actually thought about pulling the plug only to be convinced of Steves ability by Kentaro.

We desperately need a chairman who is NOT a Kentaro client and can advise the owners from a different angle. Although we had one of the best, and he packed it in, presumably because his advise was being totally ignored.

I cannot in anyway see how Kean was not even slightly involved in some under handed tactics to get the job. How can a set of owners who know nothing about football appoint him, when in reality most Rovers fans did'nt know who he was. Doesn't add up.

The owners are naive, and need to sever the Anderson links asap.

We were going to sack him in the summer anyway so "why wait?" was Mrs Desai's explanation at the time. Those words must be haunting her now, particularly as the football we're watching is worse!

Regardless of any protests, action by supporters or results, Venky's PR are saying that there is no chance that Kean is going to be sacked before the end of the season, there is a possibility that they will look at things during the summer.

They need to bin the PR and bring in the accountant's, let them do the sums of relegation and for each year it takes to get back up if we ever do, then ask them again.

Just posted the stats on message to Venkys thread.

Since the prem began, of all our managers, Keans win ratio is only 21%, by far the worst of the nine managers we've had since then, worse than Kidd who took us down, worse than Ince who has us bottom. He is clearly not up to the job and has to go.

To add: Kean has 4 wins & 5 draws from 19 games, that's 17 points, hypothetically let's double it to give him 34 points from the full 38 match season, that puts us a point above Blackpool with 5 games in hand and almost certain relegation, which I think barring a miracle, will happen. The miracle being Venkys sacking Kean.

Has any prem team sacked a manager this late in the season?

Most of the posters backing Venkys and Kean are in the same boat, strange innit.

We could do with a section for season ticket holders only on this board.

What boat would that be Aggy?

So you believe the owners sacked Sam and then began their search for a manager, were unable to tempt any of their targets into a job in the PL under a club with new owners with supposed 'billions' of pounds, and so had to settle with Steve Kean.. a man with no experience? someone they had never met? An absolute unknown in the football world?

No idea to be honest, but you get the feeling that this was a knee jerk decision probably born out of the embarrassment at the United game and they never actually had a plan B.

If media reports are right, and the Roas had a big party for that game, you can understand the frustration and embarrassment they must have felt after the goals went it, not that they should have sacked the manager, I’m not saying that.

Kean is as much of a victim as anyone else in this fiasco

Nothing could be further from the truth.

He fed Venky's all the lies they wanted to hear so that he could get the job. He said he thought we could challenge the top 7 with meagre investment. He said we could do it playing a totally new brand of attractive football. There are direct quotes saying these things.

He continues this BS after every single awful game we play in this winless streak, desperately trying to spin the situation to keep his grubby hands on the job.

He's a liar. A spinster. The papers are being kind by calling him 'deluded', it's more calculated than that. He talked his way into a job that he's not qualified to do (getting a leg up from Anderson on the way), and now we're all suffering. I can't believe that anyone has sympathy for him.

Venky's described Jerome Anderson as one of the family and they are obviously very close - surely they cannot rely on his judgement ever again after the appointments of Kean/Jensen - must go down as two of the worst appointments in recent years.

Pretty strong words LeChuck, I must say I’d have facts to back up such comments, not hearsay.

I'm no fan of Kean, but agree with giddygoat, he was offered the job and took it, he's a victim like we are, I'd have done the same though.

My "favourite" Kean quote from the LT "we're certainly not complacent"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WTF!!!!!!

I like the one where he talks about our home form over the last 40 games, next he'll talk about when he lead us to the title in 95.

Chuck Norris wears Steve Kean pyjamas.

(Ah 2005 welcome back)

It's certain, after reading his views yesterday, about how we've only played poorly once - at Aston Villa - that that is what he's telling Venky's on his trips to Pune. Do they believe him?

No hearsay in there really, just my interpretation of his words

I can find the quotes from when he took over if you want, saying how he thought we could break into the upper half of the Premier League.

I'll balance it out by saying I don't blame him if he genuinely thought he was up to the job. The problem is now that he won't face up to the fact that he's not and constantly spouts nonsense after every game.

I would have thought they'd be watching themselves, no need for Kean to tell them how we played, surely.

You think Mrs Desai understands football Gav? She wouldn't have appointed Kean in the first place if she knew anything at all.

As I said to GiddyGoat last night, Kean is not a victim in the least here. Kean knew what job he was taking on, he had a budget of £5million, a contract worth god knows how much more than his previous.

To be a 1st team coach, promoted to manager of a PL side, with 21 points on the board before Christmas he was in dreamland. He is in no way, shape or form a victim!

They probably also watch his post match interviews !

If you don't understand the game, differentiation between the good, bad & ugly can become more difficult. After all, Mrs D watched her first life match only a few weeks ago!

Same as Allardyce then.

I actually think that a lot of people are empathising with Kean perhaps a tad naively.

IMO, Kean knows exactly what he's doing in terms of scheming, manipulating and spinning. I would not trust this guy as far as I could spit.

Unfortunately, IMO, what he knows about football management could probably be written on a gnat's d1ck.
