  1. 1. Should Steve Kean stay or go

Recommended Posts

In what way did you think Steve Kean has been the victim? I'l probably still tell you he is no victim to this whole thing whatsoever. He could quite easily have turned the job, and new contract down if he had wanted.

As Tony Parkes did on numerous occasions.

again... i submit 99/00.. his last stint as caretaker.

in particular; lets get rid of dunn and duff... theyll never be any good etc...

The point is he rejected the job, whereas Kean took it, is way out of his depth yet continues to run the club into the ground!

To add: Kean has 4 wins & 5 draws from 19 games, that's 17 points, hypothetically let's double it to give him 34 points from the full 38 match season, that puts us a point above Blackpool with 5 games in hand and almost certain relegation, which I think barring a miracle, will happen. The miracle being Venkys sacking Kean.

In the league he has 3 wins.

That makes 14 points.

I don't understand Venkys thinking AT ALL.

They mustn't care at all anymore - it is the only thing that makes any sort of sense. If they cared in any way, they would at the very least say "Oh dear" Why leave an inept head slapper in charge? Because they do not give a hurried, emotionaly detached, sexual encounter.

I can see a new dark age dawning for Rovers.

Key word there being "caretaker". He always said, and I'm pretty sure I read somewhere he was offered it at one time, that he wouldn't take the Rovers managers job full-time as he was just happy to help out when the club were struggling.

If the sell Jones 12 million, Robinson 8 million, Holliet 6 million, Samba 7 million, Olsson 5 million, Pedersen 3 million.

they could generate 41 million from that sell the club for 12 million and make a little profit.

Its good business.

Isn't asset stripping frowned upon.

Also if they did that, imagine the negative publicity they would get. If they think the flak they are getting now is bad, it'll be 100x worse after sending a club down and stripping all their assets.

Its very liekly they signed some of these players on long term contract "without" considering relegation, we could not afford them and that very likely a fact.

We would have to sell, its their club, their money.

forced sales rather then asset stripping.

Sell up to who?

'Someone' for about 12 million according to Chris.

Yes they may have to sell players to generate money lost if we go down, but they can't just make a profit, leave the club player-less and sell us for a tiny fee like you're suggesting. I'm sure there would be safeguards in place to prevent this happening or it would have happened lots of times before.

Ah apologies for the misunderstanding. I don't think either of them have been victimised financially. Especially not Kean when he has taken on a well paid job that he didn't deserve. At least SA deserved to be paid a managers wages.

In what way did you think Steve Kean has been the victim? I'l probably still tell you he is no victim to this whole thing whatsoever. He could quite easily have turned the job, and new contract down if he had wanted.

This whole thing is a mess Gav and you refuse to admit that we had a good manager previous to Kean.

You were delighted Allardyce had gone.

You were delighted about the timing of the whole thing.

You were delighted to give Kean a chance until quite recently.

Perhaps time to admit your judgement has been a little wide of the mark for some time.

I was agreeing with Giddygoat to be honest Jimmy.

I think Kean is a victim here, of over ambition mainly. The owners saw fit to offer him the job and he took it, if I was in his position I’d have done the same, as would 99% of posters on this site whether that admit it or not.

The whole thing is a mess, agreed, and we did have a good manager before Kean, his name was Mark Hughes.

I was delighted when we sacked Allardyce, didn’t agree with the appointment of Kean which opens a whole world of issues around timing of the sacking, but was willing to give him a chance because he was the manager of my football club.

My judgement has nothing to do with it, I have no input, or impact on the football club other than paying my season ticket season in season out.

Hope that helps.

apparently, one my mates saw an advert for it at 6.30 this morning and said "kean is the man for the job and he will be manager whatever happens this season and next!".

They is NO WAY IN HELL that he will be here! If we go down then he will have to leave and if we stay up then he will have to leave aswell! The owners must surely realise that he is not the man to get us into the top 10 next season and challenge for Europe the we NEED A PROVEN PL manager and I can think of at least 2 manager who I think could achieve this next season. If we get a new manager which I am very sure we will then the owners will now to back him with money to rebuild the squad with good players!

I'd have a lot of respect for that line if you hadn't directed such irrational hatred towards the last manager.

As it is that's a bit of a conceited thing to say. You're trying to place yourself morally above those who were against Kean from the start, which is in direct contrast to your behaviour when Sam was here.

Just admit that you only gave Kean more of a chance than the rest of us because he wasn't Sam Allardyce and we can all move on. :)
