RovertheHill Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 We had the very same debate when Sam took over. Some said our team at that time weren't able to play a longer ball more direct style. Others said give it time. Of course they were right as the team adapted but in many cases now the same people wanting time for that adaptation are the same ones not willing to allow the same time now. I think we just have to accept that if Kean created a cure for cancer many on here would still dislike him. Having said all that I found many of our home games under Sam very entertaining and think the hoofball label was pretty unfair. But it was a different style and change does take time. As it will when Kean leaves, which I fully expect in the summer.

Amo Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 A) jones had an average start and has since done a good job. He has been an improvement and serioulsy, you would be hard pressed to find posters, who thinks otherwise your post comes of really biased topman, when you only bother to mention 1 player out of 4. C) you totally neglect that kean, was financially backed with a good amount of cash. 5 mill in straight up transfer money and some huge wage packages for loans. In general his dealings havent contributed with much so far. d) Imo its a bit of both, he sucks as a manger and the january window was average.( not awfull, not good or great, just average). There is a but though, as rochina is young and could come good. That could make the window, in time, an above average one. hell if rochina ends up a class player, then we can label it good. If formica does good aswell he´s got 3 out of 4 and i wouldnt hesitate calling it great and i wouldnt have a problem with praising kean for it. Does that seem unreasonable.? a ) Okay? b ) 1 out of 4 isn't bad, especially when two of them are long-term prospects and can't be judged yet. And even Sam would have taken Roque on loan. c ) See above. d ) Well, the same squad (more or less) finished mid-table with Sam, so if anything those signings could only make us stronger.
tashor Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Apparently Kean has said that in his opinion playing a less than fully fit Parker may well rebound on West Ham................ Anyone else now really worried
JAL Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Hope everyone puts off buying a season ticket until Kean has gone.
super_arran Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Hope everyone puts off buying a season ticket until Kean has gone. I hope you do. It's about supporting the team as a whole, not just an individual
Mattyblue Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Attractive football - quick; one touch passes, running at players, passing the ball around, "triangles", long shots etc. Unattractive football - long ball hoofs from the back, playing the ball in to the box from every freekick, Jason Roberts, etc Both can be effective It's that simple ay? Any football club can put a team out on the pitch to play that way (and be successful) it just takes millions of pounds and quality players. Something we did not possess, so we played the way Sam thought best- and yes it was effective. if Venky's put their money where their mouths are, then yeah bring on the triangles
broadsword Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 There's nothing wrong with a good long raking pass to an on-rushing forward. I like watching that sort of thing, anyway. Long punts are different, hit and hope not quite as watchable. But still, we can either have a bigger budget and better football or the same budget and the same football. Either or.
Gav Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Hope everyone puts off buying a season ticket until Kean has gone. Not a chance JAL, thats a rather silly remark pal.

We've been keeping the ball on the deck a lot more too. I'm not saying we've been more successful doing this or anything, but it's been more exciting/attractive to watch. Something that rarely happened under Sam. (not a pop at the man, just expressing my opinion)
JAL Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Not a chance JAL, thats a rather silly remark pal. Its not silly Gav, its serious.
cruz Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 My season ticket concern is not Kean but the expected price increase
chris Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I hope you do. It's about supporting the team as a whole, not just an individual “The day of individual happiness has passed” Adolf Hitler
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Apparently Kean has said that in his opinion playing a less than fully fit Parker may well rebound on West Ham................ Anyone else now really worried I would agree with that - West Ham still have two matches after us - pointless playing him too soon and then picking up another injury. Also - if Alex Ferguson had something similar we would be talking about him applying some psychology. Yes, it was effective. We played hoofball most matches and played for freekicks, throw ins and corners. I can't remember one game where we played attractive football with Sam as our manager. I can't agree - I think the last few matches of last season we mixed it up far more than at any time under Sam. My biggest disappointment was that at the start of this season he reverted to plan A rather than trying to build on the good play at the end of last season.
Mercer Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Hope everyone puts off buying a season ticket until Kean has gone. Good shout - maybe it's the type of 'language' that our owners would understand. It's simple, Kean stays and ticket sales will dive by at least 50%.
Darwen Rover Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Why oh why is kean commenting on another team and their team selection..??? Only thing he's doing is motivating Scott Parker even more!! My god this guy is clueless!!!
Mercer Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Why oh why is kean commenting on another team and their team selection..??? Only thing he's doing is motivating Scott Parker even more!! My god this guy is clueless!!! Blind panic - he's frightened to death of Parker playing and has given the game away!
Gav Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Good shout - maybe it's the type of 'language' that our owners would understand. It's simple, Kean stays and ticket sales will dive by at least 50%. Absolute Rubbish. This is exactly the reason why I question where your allegencies lie mercerman.
Ricky Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 He's commenting on another team because it was said at a press conference on advance of our game against..... Wait for it.... West ham!!!! Have you heard fergie on the radio commenting on Barcelona today, yep.. Guess why, they're playing them soon. There's a lot of things to beat kean with but this surely isn't one.

It's simple, Kean stays and ticket sales will dive by at least 50%. Whats simple is that comment, simple bloody minded. 50%?? Absolute rubbish. Your clear hatred of keen, which I can understand to an extent, is clouding your judgement.
imy9 Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Not just Kean comments though which are getting sillier by the day,, Burnley having a better support than Rovers is MB gold which I read the other day
Kelbo Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Good shout - maybe it's the type of 'language' that our owners would understand. It's simple, Kean stays and ticket sales will dive by at least 50%. Actually, I am told by quite a number of ST holders they will not renew if Kean is manager, they are also considering watching Stanley, after attending games late this season, some will never return whilst the present owners are in charge of the club!!

Sorry Kelbo but thats BUNKUM with the greatest respect. This is probably the same number of season ticket holders that told me they're stop going if Allardyce stays in charge, fact is, its an insignificant number.
47er Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 My season ticket concern is not Kean but the expected price increase So if Kean continues as manager next season------you won't be concerned?
BuckyRover Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Actually, I am told by quite a number of ST holders they will not renew if Kean is manager, they are also considering watching Stanley, after attending games late this season, some will never return whilst the present owners are in charge of the club!! You need to speak to Stanley about this. They will need a new stadium to fit them in.
