  1. 1. Should Steve Kean stay or go

Kean getting a bit of a slagging off Marcotti on Twitter. Marcotti knows....

Marcotti Gabriele Marcotti

Did I hear right? Kean on MOTD: "We tried to play on the break but that was difficult because WHUFC were really going for it..." Eh?

I don't have a problem with Kean saying he wants to play counter. But surely when the opp "goes for it" it makes it easier to do so, no?

Because we are all so close to it (i.e. being Rovers fans), it is useful sometimes to get a neutral/independent view on our manager.

Big question for all of us, will Kean improve enough, as manager, for when we start next season on 0 points.....

Kean's comments on Match of the Day are inane even by the standards of football.

Get rid ASAP

let's hope so.

and we just have to hope that the onwers have finally realise that he is out of his depth and will replace him with a good manager.

wonder who supporters manager choice would be or top 3 choices?

Absolutely not.

We need to build a team around Jones, Olsen and Hoilett, who incidentally played yesterday despite mercermans claims we’d probably not see him in a Rovers shirt again

If Kean is given 10m, would he be able to bring in the type of players required to play a passing more attractive style of football which is a slightly different question possibly?

OK. Everton game aside we've approached the last few games reasonably well set up and Kean appears to be picking the right team. The lads also seem to be in good spirits. On that basis we have to give him some credit.

The worrying fact is he seems that he has to play Santa Cruz when fit and it wouldn't surprise me if its against his better judgement but he's been 'pursuaded' otherwise.

He also doesn't make good tactical changes during the game. We had Dunn on the bench who can keep the ball a bit and good to play behind the main striker for the last 20 mins. If he wasn't fit to do that then what was he doing on the bench? I had/have no problem with Andrews coming on to shore things up.

Kean will show his metal in the next game if he leaves Santa Cruz out altogether.

Dunny was not on the bench!!

For me the risk factor is just too great - don't get me wrong, I am not saying Kean has done well results wise however. naturally, he could improve over time. The major problem is, with no managerial track record prior to Rovers, our judgement is based purely on his work so far since December when he took over.

GAV, who would you like as rovers manager if kean leaves?

I'll be honest with you chaddy I've not given it much thought, because Kean will keep us up, and that makes his position safe as far as I’m concerned, others will have us believe different, hope they’re right.

Also, Rafas coming by all accounts, now I'd be over the moon at that, simply because he's a cheque book manager and the cheque book must be open to bring him here

What I think he meant was West Ham were putting so much pressure on our defence, that we could not construct a flowing attacking move to exploit the gaps.

That of course leads to the question, why the hell did we let them put us under so much pressure in the first place?

I'd run with a spec of a manger who has proven to score loads of goals at the highest level, and with this has won things during his playing career at the highest level. Hes supported by a backroom staff who have expertise in the art of defending and can work with Bobby Mimms and all the other coaches.

That narrows it a bit i'd have thought.

Even worse---what about "we have actually got positive results in 5 of our last 7 games". Eh?

Straight out of the Alastair Campbell Book of Spin that one!

We've actually got 1 win and 4 draws which makes 7 points out of 7 games ie certain relegation form!

He must think we are all idiots.

Not a Kean fan, just a logic fan. If he threw away 2 points, he got us in a position to win them. Credit and debit surely? Also, since RSC for Roberts was like for like, as opposed to changing the shape of the team, isn't it a case of RSC failing to execute more than manager screwing up? Tho I don't see why Roberts needed to come off - he's good for 90 mins.

So a jocky gets his horse to the front for the first 3/4 of the race and is beaten in the final quarter, now, if he was continually doing that, he would really struggle to get a ride, the jocky who stays with the group and pushes on in the final run is the winner, a bit like Man U, how many times do they come through at the final hurdle?? cant be coincidence can it!!!

So your alluding to Kean getting into a winning position and losing it with poor tactical substitutes deserves credit?

A game starts with a kick off and ends with the final whistle, what happens in between is of no consequence to the result, the results over the season determines the league position, that is how football works.

That word again. He uses it all the time because that's what Venky's want to hear. They have actually said, that's what they want to hear and that's what he'll be giving them on his journey's to Pune.

the difference here is that Man utd can hand pick the best horses to race with, whereas where forced to race with a few donkeys :brfcsmilie:

I wonder if Carlo Ancelotti left cheslea in the summer and he has said that he wants to stay in England and would take a job outside the top 6 along as if he find a challenge which excites him.

http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/news/2011/04/24/ancelotti-wants-england-stay-if-blues-sack-him-102039-23082668/

would he consider coming to rovers in the summer. because of what the owners have said about they want to win things and get into Europe within a couple of season and the owners MUST REALISE that we will need a top class manager to attract very good players to come to the club.

I know this is a very long shot but if our Owners show ambition and put their money where their mouths are we could get somebody like him.

I would like us to go for someone like David Moyes (cant see coming unless the owners shown ambition) or maybe CR or Steve McClaren would be good choices imo.

If we do get Rafa Benitez then it would mean that the owners are showing Ambition and willing to spend big then. Top players won't come unless we don't have a top class manager.

I don't want Kean left in charge next season at all!

It's like he is trying to fool the world of football, but every rovers fans is thinking "tell it like it is you c**k"

I have to agree that was a shocking interview for the many reasons already given.

I will say why was the guy from the BBC asking Kean what he thought of WHU?? They have bugger all to do with Kean or Rovers.

Strange that you call for the Owners to be realistic but you think Carlo would come to Ewood Park

He screwed up for me yesterday and no one will convince me otherwise.

If I hadn't have watched the game I'd be chuffed with a point. But unfortunately I watched it and witnessed the downturn after the subs/formation change. Thank goodness for Samba or we'd have none.

40% of the possession in the first half was in the Blackburn 3rd, they had 8 shots verses our 2.

Based on how desperate they were to win and being at home, with 3 strikers (two quality), and our terrible record there.

I think holding on even with Colin Hendry and David Batty as subs would have still been difficult.

although Kean interview made me pretty sick after.

I'd almost be happy with 17th just to prove to Venkys we need a good manager and that Kean was a downgrade from Sam.
