  1. 1. Should Steve Kean stay or go

Recommended Posts

We agree then. We started with a point and finished with one. How is that losing 2 points?

Because of course we were one goal up, they changed their shape and Kean wasnt up to responding in the correct manner, as I have said, almost every coach in the world knows, if a team goes three at the back, width is the way forward, we would have had an easy outlet for a wide diagonal ball which would have put the Hammers in all sorts of trouble, instead we went long down the middle and the ball came straight back into our half!! mindboggling!

PS There is a reason all sides hit the corner flag in the last few minutes of a game, its because its more difficult for Teams to get the ball back quickly into opposition half.

He screwed up for me yesterday and no one will convince me otherwise. If I hadn't have watched the game I'd be chuffed with a point. But unfortunately I watched it and witnessed the downturn after the subs/formation change. Thank goodness for Samba or we'd have none.

i didnt see the game, but would definetly have sold for a point prior to it.

was his subs that bad or was it a case of, no matter what he did, we´d be pressured and hassled late in the game.?

40% of the possession in the first half was in the Blackburn 3rd, they had 8 shots verses our 2.Based on how desperate they were to win and being at home, with 3 strikers (two quality), and our terrible record there.I think holding on even with Colin Hendry and David Batty as subs would have still been difficult.although Kean interview made me pretty sick after.I'd almost be happy with 17th just to prove to Venkys we need a good manager and that Kean was a downgrade from Sam.

do you have a link to the interview chris, would be much appreciated.

had not even read your post, or atleast not properly, just saw the interview mentioned. But as i did, i saw, that youve actualy answered the question, i had for booth :D

I wonder if Carlo Ancelotti left cheslea in the summer and he has said that he wants to stay in England and would take a job outside the top 6 along as if he find a challenge which excites him.

http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/news/2011/04/24/ancelotti-wants-england-stay-if-blues-sack-him-102039-23082668/

would he consider coming to rovers in the summer. because of what the owners have said about they want to win things and get into Europe within a couple of season and the owners MUST REALISE that we will need a top class manager to attract very good players to come to the club.

I know this is a very long shot but if our Owners show ambition and put their money where their mouths are we could get somebody like him.

I would like us to go for someone like David Moyes (cant see coming unless the owners shown ambition) or maybe CR or Steve McClaren would be good choices imo.

If we do get Rafa Benitez then it would mean that the owners are showing Ambition and willing to spend big then. Top players won't come unless we don't have a top class manager.

I don't want Kean left in charge next season at all!

Its highly unlikely but the owners want a marquee signing, a marquee manager would be better. You don't need the best players in the world if they are led by a good leader and are well organised, it gives the fans and more importantly players belief whilst stiking fear into the opposition.

Next week is the last home match.

Usually, the players, manager, coaches complete a 'lap of honour' to thank the fans.

What will Kean do and what reception will he get !?!?!?!?

David O'Leary at Leeds? Okay, it ended in tears eventually but he did well for the first season and a half.

After that I'm struggling. Bryan Robson at a stretch. Then, depending on your definition of success, Tony Parkes, somewhat ironically.

I did say in the last decade or so. Robson must have gone to Boro at least 15 years ago.

O'Leary started in the 90s didn't he?

I'm not saying it has never happened...Dalglish won the double in his first season. However, other than perhaps O'Leary, and that is ignoring the vast sums he spent, there does not seem to any manager who has done well who has not served their apprenticeship outside the Prem first.

So, why the hell would Kean be oh-so-different?

Kean needs to be released if we stay up and he then needs to gain his experience outside the Prem first just like everybody else.

Ironically, if he does take us down, he may have more of an argument for staying on than if he (by the skin of our teeth) keeps us up!!!

Not a Kean fan, just a logic fan. If he threw away 2 points, he got us in a position to win them.

For someone who is a fan of logic, you don't seem to be able to grasp it very well.

Why, because he threw away 2 points, was it him who got us in the position to win them?

That is known as false dichotomy. Any "logic fan" could tell you that.

If we manage a win I'm pretty sure he will get a good ovation on the day, regardless how the rest of the season has panned out.

Is it really that long since Leeds got to the CL Semis? Time flies!!

I'm sure you are already aware but I totally agree with your view of Kean. If we stay up this year, it'll only be worse next year if he's still here. He simply has to go.

Ultimately what we really need is for Venkys to back the team in the transfer market. But without the right man in charge there's no guarantee it's money well spent.

It's telling that clubs of our ilk (e.g. Bolton and Stoke) are backed by owners who dearly want success for their club and neither are in the situation we are. Know any mega rich Rovers fans?

Knowing rovers fans, if we get beat he'll get a hostile reception, if we don't it will be: 'Steve Kean's blue n white army'.

Funnily enough, I was only thinking last week that I hadn't heard that song for ages. Not even at the Bolton match. And certainly not with Kean's name included.

It got going for just the 1 sentence at West Ham, didn't take off funnily enough.

Who is fully in charge of transfers these days at BRFC anyway?

Old article: Concern has grown at Rovers in recent days over the potential influence of sports agency Kentaro, who have been advising the new owners Venkys about the clubs January transfer budget.

I'd imagine a 'muted' one. I expect most will be in the pub or on the way home.

btw This season could see MU virtually destroy BRFC on their own. The 7 niller saw us get rid of the manager who was our virtually guaranteed 'get out of jail card' and a similar heavy defeat could consign us to future oblivion. I doubt that the financial implications of relegation will be as severe for any of our relegation rivals as they will be for us. I know the Venkey lot have said they will provide funds should we go down but I'm not at all confident they will stand on and prove to be as good as their word.

We're all more than aware of that

You sound unsure on the 'lap of honour' to confirm we usually get a lap of honour at Ewood, unless the mancs decide to invade the pitch, i'm sure it'll take place.

As for Kean, I'm sure he'll be fine, the fans will want to cheer the players more than boo the manager, I'll keep my eye out for the one booing, where will you be sitting?

The question is, will our fans hang around whilst the Manchester United fans are annoyingly cavorting about in celebration, which is likely to last for some time.

And will there then be any Rovers fans left to cheer our lads round in their lap of honour?

I know. I'm just amazed that some Rovers fans might be stupid enough to change their mind about Kean should he manage to keep us up. We need a manager, not some bloke learning from his mistake with us.

We have been a Prem side for almost two decades now - give or take those two wasted years - and can appoint far better than a nobody like Kean. Maybe one day he will be a somebody, but he shouldn't having a punt with us.

If we lose mum, not many will stay behind, but you'll be able to spot mercerman, he'll be the one booing :D

That's it then, the only option is for us to beat them.

People seem to think that the other 23,000 Rover regulars who do not post on here hold Kean in as much contempt......maybe they do, maybe they don't.

You wondering if he's popular cruz?

Regardless the result (unless it's a dire thrashing), any Rovers 'fan' who doesn't stay behind to applaud the players isn't a proper fan imo (extenuating circumstances excepted). The players have made a great effort in recent games and applauding those efforts may just encourage any want-aways to stay.

Any of the likes of:

Samba, Robinson, Olsson, NZonzi, PJ, Hoilett (in particular) and even JJ (he may/probly WILL have a say in his transfer here if it were to happen).

I wish that was true. Unfortunately, loyalty in football day is very, very rare.
