  1. 1. Should Steve Kean stay or go

Recommended Posts

Steve Mc is very much from the same mold as Allardyce, negative, boring football, the Boro fans rejoiced when he got the England job.

No thanks.

19 mar 2011 Blackburn - Blackpool Serie 2 - 2

2 apr 2011 Arsenal - Blackburn Serie 0 - 0 TV2 PL1

9 apr 2011 Blackburn - Birmingham City Serie 1 - 1

16 apr 2011 Everton - Blackburn Serie 2 - 0

25 apr 2011 Blackburn - Manchester City Serie 0 - 1 TV2 PL1

30 apr 2011 Blackburn - Bolton Serie 1 - 0

7 mai 2011 West Ham - Blackburn Serie 1- 1

He considers draw as a positive result. And to an extent I agree with him, but not against the likes of Blackpool and Big club at home.

To give the guy some credit, draws are positive results, in fact If we'd not had them draws we'd be going down in my book.

Despite his failing with England, Steve Mc would be a good manager for us. Did a excellent job at Boro, won the league with little known Fc Twente and then moved on to Wolfsburg, who in all fairness tied his hands behind his back in regaurds to players and transfers.

Did a great job at boro and FC twente.

Anyone watch goals on Sunday yesterday?

Steve Mclaren was on there bigging us up a little saying we are a good side, said he had watched us a few times recently. Reading to much into this????

maybe so.

My first 3 choices would be David Moyes then Rafa benitez then Michael Laudrup.

cant see moyes coming to us.. unless he's promised fortunes.

i really dont want raffa.

raffle would be a better name for that fella.

laudrup would be a good shout as jensen used to be his assistant (although apparantly JW was put off by him refusing to commit to rovers for over 2 years.

i still cant believe ince got the job instead of him).

ive got a sneaking feeling for claudio ranieri... he's kept very quiet since leaving roma, and is always saying how he longs to return to england in the italian press.

2002/03 - Massimo Maccarone signs from Empoli for a club record £8.15million

Enough said

Souness signed Grabbi for £6.75m.

Allardyce signed Kalinic for £6m.

Would you say they were bad managers?

Not that I'm endorsing Schteve. But one signing out of context doesn't prove a point.

He also stated when asked, that he would love to return to management in the Premier League with a well-run and respected club  and a good Chairman

We aren't a well run club now, the club have lost a lot of respect for how big Sam was treated, we don't have a chairman and come the end of the season we may not be in the Premiership. Apart from that...

Funny how McClaren's record has undergone a great deal of revisionism. Apart from one good UEFA Cup run, Boro were terrible, spending good money and finishing about 14th. He was about 3rd choice as England manager, and was limp and anaemic, and he failed in Germany. He did well at FC Twente, but what he is best at is comedy accents.

Some good points, would still take him over Kean as manager if they were the only two options. Though I could say that about 99% of the options out there...

I agree Moyes will only come if he gets serious money to spend and NO interference from the onwers or agents.

not a fan of Rafa but has won things and would attract very good players to I would accept him.

Laudrup is a very good manager and would be able to attract very good players and plays good football. Also done a GREAT JOB at Real Mallorca with no money and I think only sign one player this season.

Claudio Ranieri would be a good choice and I would like him to come Rovers. would be able attract very good players and did a great job at Chelsea.

Questioning why Keys would state that!

It's a p1ss take obviously.

Maclarens no good. Problem with him is that I believe he's basically a thick bugger. He's not half the manager that Allardyce is.

Moyes is good. But as for bloody Rafa... ffs!!!

Good rule of thumb is whether or not they stand motionless on the sidelines when things go wrong.

Correct.

SA - Blackburn Rovers games 90, won 32, drew 24, lost 34, win % 35.56

SM - Middlesbrough games 250, won 97, drew 60, lost 93, win % 38.80

Sorry how many championships has SA won again? SA is regarded as a demi god round here, SM could well end up being Zues.

Wow- opened a can of worms with those stats! Lol

Schtevie may not be the ideal but he IS Boro's most successful manager. Admittedly, that says more about Boro than SM but still...a League Cup victory followed by a run to the Uefa Cup final would do me.

A while back, I would have been aghast at the thought of him managing Rovers. Now we have Kean, my standards have dropped through the floor. Count me in the ABK gang - Anyone But Kean. A manager will do, not a coach or a YTS kid like Kean, but a manager.

As I know you have a poor memory, McClaren finished:

12th

11th

11th

7th

14th

Finishing 14th ONCE does not mean his average was 14th!

Also won the Carling Cup plus UEFA cup final.

Of course, those stats by themselves don't say much by themselves.

Does that mean that if SM was given the Rovers job that he would likely do better than SA? Even though he would likely be given far less money than he was at Boro? How much money must a McClaren have to be a success at a club like Rovers?

The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind, the answer is blowin' in the world...
