  1. 1. Should Steve Kean stay or go

Recommended Posts

I sent the FA a email enquiring about Steve Keans badges as some members keeps asking for proof that he has these and i got a response today

Hello Peter,

Thank you for your email.

It is a requirement of all Premier League managers to have the required badges. Steve Kean meets these requirements.

Regards, Conor O’Callaghan

Mercerman- there is your proof or do you want to see his passport too? Lol

No s**t.

But don't worry, we've only been saying that for the past six months.

What next for Miseryman and the rest of the conspiracists?

ah well,i aint arguing over it really cant be arsed but to me if you are a pro player paid THOUSANDS of pounds a week you should be able to play and swap styles to suit.

C'mon Abbey you know the score. Our players are paid much less than those in the top 6 of the Prem. Thats why we would never be in the top six whatever style we adopt. If we tried to out football em we would make their job of beating us easy, if we rough em up a bit and play a game which they hate then we have a much better chance of beating them. Put it this way the likes of Ces fabregas, David Silva and Luca Modric would have run absolute rings around me in my prime, they are quite simply fantastic players and it would be a total embarrassment but keep it in the air and they'd hardly get a touch on the ball.

Okay, well that leaves 13 other clubs in this division - most of which are mediocre.

You also picked three exceptional midfielders to make your point. Again, hardly a balanced argument.

Also, the wage bill argument is erroneous. We've finished above clubs with a bigger wagebill than us before. And I bet we're the only club who'd pay Pedersen £40k a week.

So yeah.

Interesting the Scottish FA wont confirm it and thats where he supposedly got his badges!!

But if the prem league confirm he has, he must have, hold my hand up, just cannot understand why he is the only one I cant find listed!

Complete nonsense. Rafa bloody Benitez is a sham of a manager. Benitez nearly broke Liverpool with massive overspending and left them with an average squad bereft of confidence and belief. He clung onto the signing of Torres as if it were a masterstroke... it was of course but it was his only one amongst a welter of mistakes. The man is not for the Premier League much less a Premier League minnow.

A disaster waiting to happen in my view as well Theno'

If the Venky's do have money then get Hughes back

40k a week and cant play, crocky 90k a week and enough said...my point is being missed here...if i was an owner and i was paying a player(s) between 15 and 90 grand a week id EXPECT THEM TO AT LEAST BE ABLE TO PLAY FOOTBALL AND ADAPT TO WHATEVER STYLE WAS REQUIRED AND NOT JUST HOICK THE FECKER UP THE PITCH...my last point on the subject.

Your point has just been answered about 4 or 5 times Abbey.

You are right ofcourse, Alonso and Reina were a fluke alongside Torres. The current team consisting of Reina, Kuyt, Maxi, Lucas etc were not signed by Rafa. Nor did Rafa revolutionise the youth set up at Liverpool(King Kenny saying it not me) Finally this manager who should be no where near the pl won the CL amongst other trophies so cannot be classed as a success... I see your point...

Yup. Apparently, Rovers can't afford footballers anymore.

I'd love Hughes back, can't see it happening. If they want a decent manager they should move for David Moyes. Promise him the funds and control of all transfers.

Well judging by the past 4 months he must have bought em off someone else who sat the exam.

btw do they do a managers badge as well as a coaches? He'd spew that for sure.

Course it is. They are exceptional players alright but they are small and physically weaker than most and that is the weakness that must be exposed rather than trying to outpass and out football them on the ground. FFS man when half of our team are bloody giants why do even have to explain that to you? It's completely bloody obvious.... I'd wager at this point that you have never ever kicked a ball in anger at any kind of level.

MGP is a different matter. He was off for nothing last summer and we'd have had to fork out a few million in either transfer fees or signing on fees to bring someone else in plus your 30-40k pw. Decent left footers who are experienced in the Prem and not injury prone to boot do not come cheap. I would have thought that you could have worked that one out for yourself.

Glad you could concede with your usual dignity.

Religious 4-5-1 man, he wouldn't be given a chance here.

Best manager in the PL.

But why would he come here?

Tell you what Abbey I've just mentioned 3 top drawer midfielders and I own a small but established mid table football club in the Prem. There's £100,000 pw each on the table, now you go off and sign em for BRFC...... Oh and you can keep the change. Good luck.

btw if they won't come go and try that Yaya chappie at City or young Jack Wilshire even. ;)

a. I didn't even make the point cock.

b. Moyes is matey with Sam and he'll know the inside story, so I hardly think he'd come and work under the directions of the puppetmaster and his puppets in Pune do you? Put it this way there are at least 19 other Prem clubs that he'd go to first and prob a few in the Championship too.

You've named THREE MIDFIELDERS. You do know the PL has 20 clubs, and they aren't littered with the likes of Fabregas and Modric, right?

Last year, our average wage per player was barely less than Tottenham and Everton's.

Go figure.

a. I didn't even make the point cock.

I remember you asking for proof in another thread.

I said that being a PL manager (without dispensation) was proof enough.

You snarked.

Go figure.

Modric £16.5m, Palacios £12m, Bale £7m, Jenas £7m, Van Der Vaart £8m

Fellaini £15m, Bilyaletdinov £9m

Ironic you should use the term 'go figure' given those..err..figures. We can't come anywhere close to buying the quality those two clubs have.

Moyes has worked wonders in finding the likes of Cahill, Arteta, Pienaar etc. But even they were many years ago, it's becoming increasingly harder to unearth gems like it was when Hughes was here.

We can't afford to buy quality players like that, so why do we pay our players nearly as much in wages?

Because otherwise we'd have absolutely no pulling power whatsoever?!

Last year, our average wage per player was barely less than Tottenham and Everton's.

Go figure.

Picking statistics selectively?

Total wage bill is more relevant than wage bill per player.

Tottenham and Everton can afford a much bigger first team squad and more PL standard players which is important for injuries, changing up the selection/formation, increasing competition for places etc.

The total wage bill is also the thing that sits on the balance sheet.

Plus, whilst it's true that our wage bill per plater isn't that far off Spurs and Evertons (though there's still a fair difference), it was still only the 13th highest per player in the Premier League last season and probably was pretty low down the list of total wage bills too.

Coupled with the fact we were one of the lowest spenders in terms of net spend and you might just begin to see that the problem isn't how much we're spending - we have that already pretty low. It's how much we're bringing in - but unfortunately there's no easy way to remedy that.
