gumboots Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Was it someone who had received a new contract? That would be telling and limiting the number of people it could be. suffice it to say that this person was not making it up for the press but was talking in a "private" conversation with no reason to tell any untruths. I personally would trust him but there are plenty who would doubt anything that came out of the mouths of any of our players at the moment, and therefore wouldn't.

I believe your personal conversation with a player a lot more than most things that are said on here.
cruz Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 So just to re-cap on the party line A player is critical of the manager and/or owners - TRUTH A player is supportive of the manager and/or owners - LIAR MOTIVATED BY MONEY COYB!
Mercer Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Today could be one of the most uncomfortable days of Kean's life. I could almost feel sorry for him, however, kitchen and heat come readily to mind. If Rovers lose, and lose badly, I think that we will see the crowd 'turn on' him. The Mancs will join in and it will be unmerciful. This week, Fergie softened Kean up at Old Trafford without even Kean knowing it! What Venky's will make of it then who knows ? I sincerely hope that I am wrong because that will mean we have secured at least a point and we will be safe. However, I am not holding my breath.

You've been saying the same for weeks now, eventually you may get it right Wonder of Hoilett will play, or maybe we'll not see him in a Rovers shirt again as per your prediction a couple of weeks ago
Mercer Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 You've been saying the same for weeks now, eventually you may get it right Wonder of Hoilett will play, or maybe we'll not see him in a Rovers shirt again as per your prediction a couple of weeks ago Gav, the thing today at the last match is if we lose badly and have our noses rubbed in it, it may well dawn on the crowd just how desperate things are. As for Hoilett, please read my posts carefully - I didn't say with certainty and I didn't predict - I said that "I would not be surprised". A huge difference. He certainly wasn't the player we know at WHAM, let's hope he's 'back' today.
PAFELL Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 I don't often get the chance to say I told you so, so just this once I'm going to do it. It wasn't Samba I heard it from but another senior professional, so at least they are all singing from the same hymnsheet and those who suggested that kean had lost the support of the players would appear to have been wide of the mark. Not saying Kean would be my choice of manager still, but they do appear to rate him more highly than most of us do, so he must be doing something right. I also had a conversation with a player after the Fulham match at craven cottage - who said simular things. They know the change of style will take time to impliment - but they are behind Kean.

He certainly wasn't the player we know at WHAM, let's hope he's 'back' today. The majority of the crowd, i would suggest, know just how potentially desperate our situation is. However, having a go at the manager is hardly sensible at this stage, and i would suggest, even if we lose today and lose badly, it wouldn't be a productive thing to do given that we have another game next week that could yet, if we win it, save our season, depending on other results. What is the point of making players feel even more down by turning on them and the manager they are still playing for. Stop predicting doom and gloom just for a week or so and stop acting as though you are the only one who can see that we are still desperately close to relegation and all it could bring for the team, the club, the town and the fans. We, or at least all who haven't closed our eyes, can see it for ourselves. Yet again your post sounds as though you want it to happen, rather than, like most of the rest of us, simply fearing it and hoping almost against hope that it doesn't happen.
Pugg Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 This thread is like a bleedin' echo chamber It's what? Hehe.

It's his opinion and no different to you saying "I wouldn't be surprised if David Hoilett hasn't played his last Rovers game". Where's the big deal in that?
RibbleValleyRover Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Like I said, you've been saying the same for weeks, eventually you may get one right. As for Hoilett, you said "I would not be surprised" if we didn't see Hoilett in a Rovers shirt again, which was complete and utter Rubbish and you know it. To be fair to Mercer he said he would not be surprised if we didn't see Hoilett in a Rovers shirt again. I have no problems with his comments when you factor in this being possibly his last season as a Rovers player due to the contract situation and demand in the player. Also at the time of his posting Hoilett suffered an injury to his hamstring, luckily for us it was a tweak at the time and not a tear. If it had been a tear then it's highly likely he wouldn't have played for us again this season and if he went in the summer it could have been the last we saw of Hoilett in a Rovers shirt.
BuckyRover Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 IIRC he implied that he was faking injury to prevent a real injury getting in the way of his "move down the road".
Gav Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Well done once again Steve Kean, you got the tactics spot on, the players motivated, and for those reasons alone I salute you
JAL Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Well done once again Steve Kean, you got the tactics spot on, the players motivated, and for those reasons alone I salute you Did we win ?
Mercer Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Well done once again Steve Kean, you got the tactics spot on, the players motivated, and for those reasons alone I salute you 20 games, 19 points, 1 win in last 12 games and still in danger of the drop. Presumably, you will be advocating that the guy is knighted should we stay-up ?
Nelsta Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 The thing with kean is he seem's to be able to get the team playing against the big teams, and playing well arsenal, liverpool, and today. However against lesser teams we just never seem to get started. Next week I think we'll really struggle.
Backroom Tom Posted May 14, 2011 Backroom Posted May 14, 2011 Kean is a poor manager in my opinion but he got it spot on today and we could have walked away with 3 points if it wasnt for Robbos blunder. I don't see how else we could have approached the game and had we gone at them at the end we would be dodgy at the back.
super_arran Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Did we win ? Did we lose? (please remember that we were playing Manchester united)
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Did we lose? (please remember that we were playing Manchester united) Nothing has changed...we need a respected manager in charge at Ewood.
Gav Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 20 games, 19 points, 1 win in last 12 games and still in danger of the drop. Presumably, you will be advocating that the guy is knighted should we stay-up ? He got everything spot on today, I'm not interested in last week or the week before, I was talking about today, and guy deserves praise and hes received it.
Mattyblue Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 He has improved, however the PL is an absolutely ruthless league, assuming we stay up I don't want a manager learning his trade (from 0 points) at Ewood Park.
tony gale's mic Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Yeah, he got today pretty much spot on and for once it's not his fault than Man Utd equalised. But we still need someone much better than him next season. One swallow doesn't make a summer.
thenodrog Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Just think how flat this season would have been for the past month if Allardyce had nor been sacked. We'd have missed so much excitement.
