Whatever happens next week, Kean has to be sacked. Can't see him resigning from by far the best-paid job he will have ever had, and can't blame him either as it wasn't his stupidity that gave him a needless 2-year extension, so therefore time for Venkys to cough up. Again.

Desire to win? We won nine times up until January. Since then, the motivation and desire to win of the players has lead to just one win.

Thank fleurk Kean "succeeded" so well or we really would be buggered!

Disastrous decision to sack Sam. Disastrous timing, disastrous flippancy of those in charge of it and a disastrous lack of any kind of plan of what to do after.

One thing Kean's appointment should never be called is "justified". It wasn't, it was a grade A balls-up.

Indeed.

I am still fuming at the complete ignorance of Venky's and also the awful judgement of their "advisers".

Possibly it is more hope but I get the feeling Kean has started to feel uneasy in his role - yesterday he was trying to sound/look bubbly pre-match however it came across as a bit fake. Also looked taken aback when Samba and Phil Jones had a go at him when they dithered over replacing Samba.

Him and Jensen seem an awkward management duo, plus the slightly important fact they seem incapable of winning football matches.

Why was Kean not with the players on the pitch yesterday, first manager in years not to do so.

<_<

He ain't daft. He knows it wouldn't have exactly been much fun for him.

Kean took his big chance and has been found wanting. Personally, I don't particularly lay the blame on him for taking his biggest opportunity in life.. The culpability goes further up than that.

Why was Kean not with the players on the pitch yesterday acknowledging the fans?,first manager in years not to do so....how to loose friends and alienate people the Steve Kean way

<_<

I'm not surprised he kept a low-profile. He was probably expecting a barrage of doughnuts.

Allardyce has gone fourlaneblue, time to move on you miserable sod :D

The players are motivated and have a desire to win, thats clear for all to see. Not sure we're good enough to carry out that desire, but everyone one of them will give 110%, so we've got a chance.

He doesn't seem to mention "penalty area entries" anymore - has he suddenly realised that they mean naff all in the context of a game?!

I really wanted to give Steve a chance, and I guess at first any rookie manager is going to make baffling team selections and tactical decisions, but I completely lost any respect for him when he tried to pass off Jerome Anderson's son as a credible signing to the media - he's clearly just a yes man of a woeful regime with no long-term interest in the health of this once respected club. He's got to go, but sadly can't see it happening unless we have a dreadful start to 2011/12.

For Myles Jerome, see Julio Santa Cruz.

So it's not the first time we've done this.

Without wanting to spark the nature-nuture debate, at least someone in Julio Santa Cruz's family have played 79 times for their country and played for one of the most illustrious clubs in Europe...at the time it probably was quite plausible that Julio might possibly develop into a decent player whereas the signing of Myles was just an absolute joke.

I'll put this in the Kean thread - as it could conceivably be down to his coaching/management - alternatively it could just be the player progressing as we all thought he would do. But does anyone else think that Nzonzi's performances have really improved over the last few matches. Personally I never thought he really lived up to the "next Veira" tag (other than his height) - but in recent matches he has started to show more drive from midfield - and is actually starting to justify the comparison (though a way to go yet). Wondered what others thought ?

The West Ham game was the first game that I have seen where he has really shone. Maybe it's down to Sam dropping him or Kean supporting him or more likely a combination of the two. But I have definitely seen an improvement.

The main reason Kean needs to go is that he cannot attract good signings. Someone like Bilic can. We are strong with JJ, Nzonzi, Olsson n Emerton across the middle with Hoilett between them and striker. Our strikers might as well not he there. The worst of whom is Santa Cruz. JJ will not sign, neither will a decent striker unless we show the ambition to get a manager stronger than Kean.

I am hoping Kean does not come out and say "we have gone 3 games unbeaten". which is true. Last time he said that we lost at everton, with one of the worse performances of the season.

There has been improvements on the field. Somebody mentioned 'nzonzi' he has upped his game, as has JJ (wish we can get him signed up. Hoilett, olsson, phil jones - you can see the desire in the ambitious Samba as well as the other players. The team is playing better. But I also fear that Kean is not the manager who will be able to influence the right players to sign for Rovers. His thoughts about Santa Cruz is beyond riddiculous - as RSC is finished. So I still want a new manager next season.

Rumours have it were are very muh intersted in Demba Ba - now he would be good at Rovers as would sturridge if we could get him from chelsea.

They have won ONE game since January Gav. Heaven help us if that motivation and desire to win is carried on next season. This manager has been a complete and utter failure but the blame for our situation rests with his employers. For all the faults of the Trust, the fact remains that not once, under their control, did we face a last day situation needing a result or other results to go in our favour to survive. In six months the Rao clan have reduced us to hoping that other results turn in our favour. So far, their decision making has proved to be every bit as inept as that of the manager. Perhaps that's why they get on so well.

Indeed, we fail to win at Wolves, we will have gone four months with ONE win!

You can talk about motivation, 'playing for the manager', whatever you like, but that record is shocking.

The point being made, which has been made more than once, is that the players are still playing for the manager, and have a deep desire to get out of this mess.

History shows us that many teams, ours from 99 being a case in point, had given up the ghost by now, and are not playing the manager.

This current side and manager are without a doubt unified, motivated and have a desire to win, that’s there for all to see, they may not be good enough, but they’re ‘up fer it’.

So lets have a bit of positive spin for a change should we?

So basically what you are saying is the players aren't good enough to win more than one match in the best part of four months. They're "up fer it" but just not good enough. They are united, motivated by Kean but simply not up to winning more than one game since January.

I like your positive spin on events. ;)

A bit of positive spin is exactly whats required round here Parson.

But surely you understand how relegation haunted teams have often given up by now, we certainly haven’t, which gives us a fighting chance doesn’t it?

If this was 99 I’d put my mortgage on us going down, because the manager was useless, the players hated the manager and it showed on the pitch.

I wish I had a pound for the number of times Kean has used the word 'Positive', whilst I admit performances of late have been better, we have, unless I have totally missed something, won only one game since January and for me that is clearly not good enough. It is of no consequence that we appear to be unified as a playing squad, the question the manager should be addressing is why are we not winning games?

Saturday, I will concede, we could have won the game but didnt, at West Ham, the poorest team I have seen defensively for years, we should have won, so why I ask are we not winning games, I dont get the positive take on things, I do understand psychology and the positive thinking, but the positive thinking is not working and we go to that final game of the season with the possibility of relegation, so what positive spin do we put on that one?

Any decent manager would, with the points on the board when Kean took over, have had us safe for at least two weeks now and as I have said positive spin or not, there is a reason we are not winning football matches which unfortunately, despite the warblings of Kean and Venkys, is the important issue with regard to relegation/safety.
