Mattyblue Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I think we will see Steve Kean as a manager come the start of season 2011/12. For me there have been positive signs; - Brought in some good players in the transfer window - Good performances against the top 4 - Mixing it up, by using Robinsons longkick strengt and playing on the deck using olsson, hoiletts strengt. - The defensive shambles have been taken care of and for the last three games (city, wham and united) we have looked organized. I think Nzonzi has helped us there and we would probably pick up more points had it not been for his unjustified sending off against Arsenal. Negatives: err we don't actually win football matches.

Really, what has Roque santa Cruz done for Rovers since he came back, what contribution has Formica made. Rochina has not done much either and Jerome Jones, is only a loan. Oh Rovers goal scoring is terrible. There has been some decent performances - but that was down to the players, not the manager. Players are giving the team talk.
my_name_is_Earl Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Venky's have dealt with Kentaro previously pre takeover and have described Jerome as part of the family. Maybe they have but at the same time, that doesn't necessarily mean that we always listen to what our family tells us. Venky's will surely be aware of the angst that the fans have for the current set-up and they need to listen, even if they only make minor changes. If we still have Steve Kean through blind faith next season and we are in a similar position again, make no mistake about it, we DESERVE to go down. In fact, the methodology involved in the running our football club thus far, makes us deserving of going down. If we were any other team, i'd be laughing at us. The only positives to come through this season is the fan's staying onside, for fear of the club being relegated, the commitment and exceptional form of some of our senior pro's and the continued emergence of our younger players. Everything else has been shambolic, to say the least.

Rochina has not done much either and Jerome Jones, is only a loan.Oh Rovers goal scoring is terrible. There has been some decent performances - but that was down to the players, not the manager. Players are giving the team talk. We all know how hard January transfer can be. RSC has done squad, but I believe that we would've have seen the same player throught the doors of Ewood if allardyce was our manager. Mauro Formica is one for the future the same with Ruben Rochina. Jermaine Jones was a golden opportunity and no harm in bringing in players especially said to be crocks/out of form and try them before you by them. David Bentley eh? Shabani Nonda? Rovers goal scoring is terrible, but certainly wasnt better under the last manager. He was the one bringing in Benjani and Kalinic and I find it therefore extremely unfair to be blaming everything on Kean. The biggest mistake was not bringing in a forward who could do the business straight away. His new tactics with giving both Hoilett and Ollsson more game time and playing a so called 4-2-3-1 have made us much better going forward with a lot of pace. I also find this entertaining to watch. This will mean that if we do by a good striker for next season who can score say 10 goals while being able to bring others in to play we can see goals from ollsson, hoilett, rochina (?) and the said striker. Then we will be a much more a goal threat. You can't have it both ways. You can't blame the manager when its crap performances and give all the credit to players when its decent. Steve have also been praised by some of the players and they enjoying playing for him. Except Gamst who is not very fond of SK. Olsson said: ‘"am did a good job but I think Steve Kean can do better or the same. He’s a good manager, he just needs time. "I’ve got nothing bad to say about Sam Allardyce. He’s a good manager as well and he gave us points, but Steve Kean has given us young ones at least the chance to express ourselves even more. He’s given us that positivity." Nelsen said: “I think Steve will now want to imprint his DNA on the club and he has already started to do that. “I think for the rest of the season it will be about stability and hopefully next season we will see a real change. “He is young and energetic and will do very well as a manager.”
Mercer Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 [removed - Kean drinking chat for legal reasons] I think we will see Steve Kean as a manager come the start of season 2011/12. Unfortunately, I think you are right. There have been rumours about Rafa but over the last day or two, have heard rumours that he's 'withdrawn'.

Negative signs are that I have seen nothing to suggest that we won't be in trouble again next season with Kean in charge. If you look at his record and repeat it over 38 games Rovers will end up with something like 36 points, a points total that will see us relegated.
rovers_rob Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 [removed quote] Unfortunately, I think you are right. There have been rumours about Rafa but over the last day or two, have heard rumours that he's 'withdrawn'. He has withdrawn ? Really ? I wonder how he is going to get out of his pre contract agreement that he signed... hmmm...this could get messy First Maradona and now Benitez...who on earth is going to save us now ? Seriously, are we talking about an alternate reality or something ? Every day I come on here and read what is happening on planet BRFCS and todays breaking news is Benitez has withdrawn !!
Majiball Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Don't shoot the messenger! He is not akin to telling tales and he is not particularly anti Kean, so a strange one.. OMG please no don't let them be twins. I couldn't cope with two doughnuts.
thenodrog Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 SEM are very good at looking after their clients. I would expect if survival is achieved this weekend then one of the first things that will take place will be a new contract for John Jensen – that will ensure more money all round for everyone, happy days, however possibly not happy days for the most important thing, the club. Along with the signing of Myles (the next Chris Smalling) Anderson, what a crude conflict of interest. John Jensen!..... Our bad run really started when EHD went and he came in with his daft diamond formation. But what the hell at least he's ideally situated to advise Gael Givet..... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/5363340.stm Funny how George Graham and Rune Hauge carried the can at the time but the player(s) involved seems to have got off scot free despite ultimately being the paymasters.

It was discovered that Graham had taken over £400,000 in illegal payments from Norwegian agent Rune Hauge to sign players Pal Lydersen and John Jensen.

Dunno but who do you think Hauge would have got the money from?
alexanders Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 According to this norwegian article about Pål Lydersen; A fee of £215k was agreed upon between Graham and Hauge at a hotel in Oslo. On the other hand the board at Arsenal got told the prize was £500k to Start for Pål Lydersen. A difference of £285k which was transferred to an account in Guernsey (tax paradise) and this account was administrated by Rune Hauge which made sure that Graham got his fare share. All three were happy; Rune and Graham got their money and Pål/John F Jensen got to play in the Premiership. The Arsenal board on the other hand who had pay over the odds for a couple of dimwits wasnt that happy. Dont think neither of the players knew exactly what was going on. Rune Hauge and Graham
Ricky Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 There have been rumours about Rafa but over the last day or two, have heard rumours that he's 'withdrawn'. Heard or read?? Everything you seem to have quoted recently looks like its come directly from BPF's twitter feed.
alexanders Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Reading that twitter made me rip my eyes out and cut my wrists.

The performances since December have been some of the best I have personally had the pleasure of watching, in over 50 years.

den Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Did I say that? The try to be positive on here is not worth it at the moment. No you didn't say that. Let's be honest though, it's been bloomin' awful this year.

BPF Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Everything ? What apart from Rafa have I said ? Wasn't aware BPF was on twitter - have you a link to his account ? My Twitter A rather high ranking member of the club has said that Steve Kean is unsackable under the current regime. I've not been able to find out what happened with Benitez but it appears as though the hunt for a Kean replacement has ended. Kean is the third Rao Brother now. This has been a terrible, painful season. Sadly, under Kean, I see us repeating it next season with an inevitable relegation. Horribly depressing.

If true then there needs to be a march on the club, a rally or a protest to force their hand. I agree I see Rovers in the ###### again next season if he remains. Keeping Kean is a huge mistake.
heysham rover Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Can anyone throw a new name into the hat that was a good striker in his career and in management. John Coleman lol
broadsword Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 No you didn't say that. Let's be honest though, it's been bloomin' awful this year. I wouldn't say it's been that good.

I always thought that Kean would be removed in the summer but if true this doesn't bode well for next season. However, Venky's have already got form flip-flopping decisions so who knows. What's true now may not be true in a couple of weeks
Blue n White Rover Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 We don't HAVE to sack Kean. Bring in a new manager and keep Kean as a coach or another role within the club where his qualities are best used. How in-depth were the Benitez talks BPF?
