  1. 1. Should Steve Kean stay or go

Recommended Posts

We don't HAVE to sack Kean.

Bring in a new manager and keep Kean as a coach or another role within the club where his qualities are best used.

How in-depth were the Benitez talks BPF?

I think Philipl said he signed a pre contract, so they must have been in depth

A rather high ranking member of the club has said that Steve Kean is unsackable under the current regime. I've not been able to find out what happened with Benitez but it appears as though the hunt for a Kean replacement has ended. Kean is the third Rao Brother now.

This has been a terrible, painful season. Sadly, under Kean, I see us repeating it next season with an inevitable relegation.

Horribly depressing.

It's absolutely no wonder there is little positivity on here at the minute - and I used to be one of the glass half full posters!

We have a weekend to 'look forward to' where we may end up relegated - and all the fallout that might come with that.

Yet if we survive, we are likely to have more of the same next year because of an apparent decision to persist with the current 'manager'. Why? Because he's the cheapest option?

The takeover was supposed to improve the club's standing because the Trust could no longer fund it and were ultimately allowing the club to slowly drwon, yet it seems that all that has happened is a large rock has been tied to it!

By all accounts Capello was a very good player, but 45 goals in 340 games doesn't suggest he was a prolific scorer though. He did win the Serie A four times and Coppa Italia twice, which ain't too bad!

he was a defender! fullback ;)

Van Basten?

i think he could be a very good manager at club level.. ajax wasnt the right club for him. there are thoughts, he has been researching and improve his man management style. id take him and seedorf as player coach ;)

mark my words seedorf will be the 1st high profile and highly decorated manager ;)

you heard it from me 1st.

top fella too.. always time for people.

Yeah, good point. Absolutley must have been. Nailed on, never been wrong before, Wonder why it all fell down?

I suspect there was a loud noise, the red wine had worn off... and then it was cornflakes time.

Sorry, I'm a bit out of the loop. Where has the Benitez stuff come from? Is it just from BPF / PhilipL's connections or is there other corroborating info out there that isn't just rumour or informed guesswork (i.e. he likes the North West).

I think there is a school of thought that with a proper pre-season and a couple of the right signings that it could be possible that Kean might be able to combine the early attacking promise with better organisation that we've seen in recent games. That would however, represent a massive punt and we've already taken one, that hasn't come off, in giving him the job in the first place.

In addition, he seems unable to make more good subs than bad, already made the occasional faux pas and has the support and confidence of about 5% of the fans.

I'm the gambling type, still not a punt I'd make if there was anyone remotely capable on the horizon. My hatred for McClaren knows no bounds following his England tenure but he did a good job at Twente and was unlucky at Wolfsburg.

There surely can't be a debate about him going if we do go down.

There were some rumours a few weeks back about Rafa but nothing confirmed. To be fair to Venky's, ltheir support for Kean is the only thing that they have been consistent about. While SEM remain as advisors, there is little or no chance of Kean getting sacked. Although Venky's PR did say over a month (the last time when there was speculation about Kean's future) that he retained the owners support but that they MAY look at things again over the summer.

Not sure his subs are always that bad, most of the time seems like his hand is forced due to injuries or players coming back from injury

Out of interest how has he gone from losing his job, with rafa signing a pre contract to being unsackable in such a short period of time?

Charlie Nicholas (SEM and speaks fairly regularly with JA) kind of suggested things might be reviewed over the summer - so did Tom Finn with his comments via email.

WE all have a choice, my family for one will not be purchasing season tickets next year if the clown is still manager, I will attend some games, see how we go but I dont want to waste my money, cant even look at Kean without being angry at what he, Anderson and Venkys have done to our club, as for Venkys, theyre not even capable of organising a schools trip to play football over here, forgot about Visas, what have we got as owners of our football club?

BPF it was obvious at a quick glance there was never anything in the Rafa rumours if they were were subject as you claimed to various unenforceable conditions such as "money being available". How does that work exactly?

Plus no-one in the Press ever got a whiff of this supposed agreement and Guillem Ballague (apologies if the spelling is incorrect) specifically denied any link to Benitez whatsoever.

Quite why people are now wheeling out months old quotes in an attempt to prove Kean is unsackable is beyond me. Well it isn't, it's another excuse to have a pop at the owners.

Who's this "high ranking" person at the Club who's said Kean is unsackable anyway ? Ken Beamish?

Doesn't matter who it is anyway. It doesn't mean to say they're right.

you'll change you mind when we sign a world class striker on their last legs like Roger Milla.

Things can change very quickly when agents are involved. Especially when agents give pathetic, self serving advice. These cockroaches ruin the game of football for all. In my opinion the whole profession is a society of scum.
