  1. 1. Should Steve Kean stay or go

Recommended Posts

It pains me in the extreme to say this but, IMO, we are now seeing the impact of employing a manager with very little credibility in the game.

Again, IMO, our club is descending rapidly into ruin.

Would the last supporter leaving Ewood turn off the lights.

I'm "gooing off" his record so far too - and his transfer dealings are average at best.

Do In trust him with the cash ? No I do not, and I don't trust a word he says either.

It's been reported on another thread that we might have £20m plus cash from players sales to spend this summer - the great shame in all this is that we don't have a proper manager such as Mark Hughes or Sam Allardyce to spend it.

Please use that last sentence to have another pop at Sam.

Since Gav is on the record as wanting Kean replaced this summer, I wouldn't take too much notice of him.

Interesting to see what Keain comes back with after this trip to India, I believe that he will be there for a few days. I firmly believe that while Jerome Anderson remains as the key advisor to Venky's then Kean is almost unsackable. I suspect that Jerome Anderson will be involved in advising Kean about potential signings, he is well connected so maybe be able to get some decent players for us, it was his connections that got us Rochina, Formica and J Jones, I am still uncomfortable about a football agent having so much influence but there is liIttle that we can do about this and I guess we just have to accept the situation.

Hold on ... I thought Anderson had left his portakabin in Brockhall, he was persona non grata, he'd been binned by Venky's (as confirmed by Mrs Venky)?

I give up! surely, after last seasons close call, we should be going after the best, or at least better quality. this is where I'm not confident with Kean, as I don't think he knows who is quality.

Jerome Anderson is very much still on the scene, he remains Venky's key advisor. While he has the level of influence that he currently has then Venky's will never sack Kean (unless Jerome advises them to do so), so in effect Kean is almost unsackable. Despite Mrs Desai saying that Balaji is the families "football expert", Venky's do not have the level of knowledge required to be "hand's on" owners and are therefore advised by Anderson.

This summer Jerome Anderson will play a huge part in the identification and signing of new players, most manager's would have a big problem with that kind of arrangement but Kean does not, he trusts Anderson's judgement and he knows full well that Anderson is the sole reason that he is the manager of Blackburn Rovers. The Venky's family also like Kean, whatever he says to them at these meetings is working because they are utterly convinced that Kean is the man to take the club forward. Those of you still hoping that Venky's are going to sack Kean could be end up waiting a very long time.

Sounds like the club is being run like a joke to me, what kind of a setup is that??? It's no surprise our best players are looking to leave when they come into work under clowns like that.

I wouldn't say that the club is being run like a "joke", but it is just a very very very different way of doing things, one that has never been done before. Now if Jerome has the skills to spot talented players then he could end up recommending very good players, but the risk is that he doesn't have those skills, I think Fergie said never mind Anderson picking a player he couldn't pick his nose (although I suspect that Fergie was still peeved at missing out on Chelsea's John Obi Mikkel a deal in which I believe Jerome Anderson was involved in.

The time to judge will be at the end of the transfer window, extremely important that the right calibre of player is bought in.

Whilst I don't like his influence, and there is a clear conflict of interest, having Jerome involved may assist as his track record of signings shows he can spot a player (trying to look at it "positively").

Wait, Anderson was involved in John Obi Mikkel???? God help us.

This has always been the major problem for me, i dont like the idea of someone advising the club when its about his own interests.

When there are decent targets out there, will he advise us against them in order to get his own connections into the club?

Does Kean have the authority to go against his advice?

Can you list a few of his successes to put my mind at rest (a bit anyway)

Can't possibly work Kamy.

A manager has to develop a squad that plays the game the way he wants it to. He has to find players that are going to dovetail into his way of playing the game. Only the manager can know which type of player will fit into this plan. Managing isn't simply about assembling a list of players, it's about getting a squad of players together who are happy with the way the manager wants to approach games and are capable of carrying through his plans. Having Jerome Anderson throwing names at Kean can't possibly work.

We need an experienced manager. Someone who has been involved in the game at the highest level either as a player [ala Mark Hughes] or as a manager. We need a manager with his own mind.

It was hit at miss during his time at Man City (when Sven was manager), however he did make a few good signings.

There is nowhere to hide now for Kean, this is his opportunity, no excuses, positivity goes out of the window, he makes good signings or he flops big style.

Roque and MB Diouff are not of the quality we require at Rovers, we now should be looking at quality players such as Sturridge, Kranjkar, Crouch especially the two English lads, with Crouch and Sturridge we would have a great strike partnership. We then need two quality midfielders, OK I'd take Jones but got a feeling his price will be around 6 million now if not more.

Then we must replace at least Phil Jones and then if we are to use Givet as CB we need a left full back, personally a decent player exchange from Arsenal would be Gibbs and he's the best young left full back around!

But the heat is on now and as I said at the beginning, has nowhere to hide, has the largest transfer kitty in the clubs history, how lucky must he be, one of the worst managers in the league, to have a kitty as large as he has.

But how would all this be viewed by the premier league / other clubs within that league. I cannot see the latter being happy that rovers have an 'in house' agent, getting them all the best players. Giving Rovers a head start on players who are unsettled in their clubs etc etc or even creating that unrest. An agent heavily involved in running a football club has to have a very major and detrimentle effect on other clubs - therefore will not be liked. I think there is trouble ahead.

More importantly, suppose in the unlikely event of Kean doing well and a his stock rises, will Anderson as his agent tout him to other clubs? indeed, this could happen to any player who Anderson acts for, this is why the conflict of interest comes into play, he cant have it both ways or all hell will break loose at some stage.

Same applies to you Kelbo, if Kean makes some decent signings, not the ones you mention by the way as they're just pie in the sky, you'll support him?
