  1. 1. Should Steve Kean stay or go

Recommended Posts

Roque and MB Diouff are not of the quality we require at Rovers, we now should be looking at quality players such as Sturridge, Kranjkar, Crouch especially the two English lads, with Crouch and Sturridge we would have a great strike partnership. We then need two quality midfielders, OK I'd take Jones but got a feeling his price will be around 6 million now if not more.

Then we must replace at least Phil Jones and then if we are to use Givet as CB we need a left full back, personally a decent player exchange from Arsenal would be Gibbs and he's the best young left full back around!

Do you think players used to the bright lights of London (Gibbs, Crouch, Sturridge) would want to move to little, old Blackburn Rovers, considering we are shipping our best players, have a complete novice as manager and no proper management structure in place? Even if we threw hundreds of thousands at these types of players a week, Rovers is just not an attractive prospect anymore.

I think we'll have to rely on players from foreign leagues who might not be aware of what is going on at the club.

It breaks my heart to say it, but i'm a realist.

There is a lot of concern within the Premier League about Anderson's very close links with Rovers, but at the moment he/Rovers are not doing anything wrong. He is there in an advisory capacity, does not hold any official position so there isn't much that the Premier League can do unless rules are broken.

Den - I totally agree with what you posted, I feel the sameway but the fact is this is what is happening so all that we can do is keep or fingers crossed that things work out, if they don't work then Rovers will be relegated. I think that pretty much everyone agrees that we need a more experienced manager but again that is not going to happen, regardless of what we think, the owners will not go against the advice of Anderson so there is virtually no chance of a change of manager. It will be interesting to see where Paul Hunt fits into all of this, people at Leicester and others who have worked with him, hold him in very high regard but again it depends on exactly what his role is and if he can exert any influence over the owners.

There is nowhere to hide now for Kean, this is his opportunity, no excuses, positivity goes out of the window, he makes good signings or he flops big style.

But the heat is on now and as I said at the beginning, has nowhere to hide, has the largest transfer kitty in the clubs history, how lucky must he be, one of the worst managers in the league, to have a kitty as large as he has.

Agree with every word.

Season ticket renewal arrived this morning Kamy and for the first time ever, I have no excitement about the new season whatsoever. It will go in the drawer for now. It could very well be something that happens to most people as they get that little bit older - no matter what is happening at the club. I just don't know about that.

The only thing I do know, is that like when you make posts on here, sometimes you think you're the only person feeling that way, but the truth is that you aren't. There are always others of the same mind - it's just a matter of how many.

Respect your views kamy100. But if I supported another club, I would not be happy with an agent advising or having any influence over another club. To bring it closer to home. If we all knew Burnley were being advised by an agent, buying the best players on the best terms,to the club, creating a situation that could have detrimentle effects on rovers and any other team. We would be livid.

Any idea who's idea it was to bring Paul Hunt to Rovers. Considering Venkys admitteable say they have little knowledge of football, so would not know a good football chief execetive etc. Has he chosen to come to Rovers as a yes man? Was he the one who brought SGE to Leicester? Maybe he will recommend SGE to venkys for Rovers.

Well I'll be filling in my application as soon as it arrives, last season we almost missed the deadline and almost didn't bother.

Get your tin hat on den, 'support the club not the player/manager/owner/agent'.

Same applies to you Kelbo, if Kean makes some decent signings, not the ones you mention by the way as they're just pie in the sky, you'll support him?

If he can get results, then yes, its impossible for anyone on here to advocate signings, much as we do, only Kean knows the kind of players he needs to gel in the style of play he wants, so yes, I will support any manager who does well at Rovers, even Kean, but to date he has been pretty poor to say the least.

As for my suggestions of signings being pie in the sky, Sturridge went to Bolton, Crouch is linked with Sunderland and if Wenger comes for Samba for siilly money, then we'll be silly too!!

However, he has nowhere to hide now, the largest transfer budget in the history of the club, though if he does sign both Roque and MB Diouff, I think I will be forget supporting him at all, for to sign both players on the evidence of last season would be disastrous!

Probably right but we must watch it, we cant keep signing foreign players now under the new ruling or we wont have a full squad of players.

whilst I understand how you feel, I tried thinking about not going to rovers a couple of seasons back. I could easily have filled the time when matches were on with other activities, but then I realised that I'd rather be at Rovers than doing any of them. I won't be rushing out to renew but that's not because I won't do it - I almost certainly will. However, we need to work out the best way to pay for us, which tickets we can afford to pay upfront for and which may have to go on direct debit.

Well I think Sturridge isn’t going to leave Chelsea, Crouch won’t be leaving Spurs, and if he does it’ll be a southern club, and Gibbs won’t be leaving Arsenal - only my opinion but thats why I think your targets are pie in the sky.

As for Kean, we all hope he does well don't we Kelbo, but we'll see.

If you were a top established player, or a young ambitious player, would you honestly want to come to Rovers to play for Steve Kean ?

Go on, be honest.

Yes because he got 7 "positive" results at the end of the season, he has "positive" talks with the owners! He tested "positive" on the breathalyser! He's such a "positive" person.......I hate you Steve Kean!

They're motivated by money, so it depends how much they throw at me.

Based on the manager, no I wouldn't.

Strangely Gummers, the one thing that keeps me thinking I will renew, isn't the excitement of the new season, it's what the other options are for a Saturday afternoon [or a sunday, or a ...].

Shopping or Rovers? Sad innit.

Two things that are putting me off? Also obvious innit?

Thank you. Neither would I.

So how is he going attract players other than foreign kids such as Rochina and Formica ?

There are other attractions Jim. Wages is the most obvious and foreign players are always keen on coming to the PL. We have never been able to attract BIG names, and that will continue, and I don't see why the expectation should change now we have new owners.

I never mentioned the owners. I'm talking why any player worth his salt would want to come and play for the present manager.
