roversmum Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 It does look a bit daft and pointless, though, if you get a win ...

BangkokRover Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Sure we had so many victories with Kean as manager. Why would anyone want to let him know that he was not doing a good.job.
mark1875 Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 I think is fairly well known that Kean is here to stay at the moment. I really don't like the guy, purely as i don't think he is up to the job. But i will still chear on the team. I will say once again Rovers fans bottled it when we drew with blackpool. The club were Ready for protests but they never happened. are you suggesting that had the rovers fans protested after the Blackpool game, our influence would have made venky's dispose of Kean? seriously?
BangkokRover Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 More likely to work than no protest i would say. If the villa fans can make sure the wally with a brolly can not get the job. Why can't Rovers fans show their displeasure with the current management team and get him removed. All i fear as i have stated before is that this preseason is crucial for Rovers. Can Kean buy the right players? Can he actually get the team to win games. whu blackpool Birmingham were shocking performances by Rovers and we were the away team. Of course if the team plays like the arsenal away game then we have little to worry about. But if we play like Everton away then again we will be lucky to stay up

Why can't Rovers fans show their displeasure with the current management team and get him removed. Hang on, one note of caution fella, please do not relate us to Villa fans in any way shape or form, they are amongst the most fickle and deluded clubs in the PL, they are worse than Geordies, without the support, they simply make me puke, and I'm glad Martinez put them in their place today. And actually, this ridiculous obsession around that particular manager, who has done fantastically well at Boro and in Holland, and was offered the England job (And you would take an offer like that wouldn't you?) has been subjected to the most outrageous witch hunt, through no fault of his own, its disgraceful TBH. The FA appointed him, they are the incompetent ones that all deserve to go, especially after their handling of the world cup debacle, they are a disgrace! Sorry, rant over, we are not Villa, and I don't think our Indian owners are as flakey as their owner. Unless Venky's get shot, we are stuck with Kean, personally, I would like to see him at least propped up with some experienced help, otherwise, I just hope the experiment works.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 So the majority thought that Kean had an eye for talent and were confident he could spend the proceeds from Jones's sale wisely to take our club forward? Kean wants £6.5m Santa Cruz Has this changed your mind?
Blackburn Ravers Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Are you sure this isnt a signing Venkys wanted to make? And if you are, How?
roverandout Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 kean has never had an eye for talent, a big wad of transfer money will be wasted on mediocre players, what a waste.
Seedstral Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 So all of a sudden the NOTW is believable come on they've sensationalised stories for years and will continue to do so whilst people believe it!! I'm not doubting that RSC will sign for Rovers again but i very much doubt it'll be that much!!
Gabby Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I think Kean should be judged after the first 10 games of the season.Did not want him to be appointed in the first place and didn't believe he would keep us up, but am willing to give him a chance.Unlike when we were struggling under Ince, the players seemed together under Kean.He signed Rochina and JJ, and extended Phil Jones's contract, which apparently increased his buy out clause from 8million to 16 million. RSC had an atrocious loan period with us but had a super 1st season with us. So is it a case of him being a one hit wonder or a just had a poor loan period. At the reported 6.5 million, which striker is better at that price?
roversmum Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Are you sure this isnt a signing Venkys wanted to make? And if you are, How? Have been thinking this for a while. They are expanding their business into South America, even if Roque doesn't cut the mustard on the pitch he will make a good ambassador for them there. So they can't lose really. If Steve isn't able to get Roque match fit and up to scratch, Roque talks a good talk back home and could be useful there.
Ricky Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I just can't see the fee for RSC being anywhere near £6.5m. I just think it's lazy journalism. I reckon we might see a fee of closer to £3m, may be some add ons based on performance. I can't see there being a load of clubs in for him based on his performances for us over the last few months. Personally I have a feeling we may see a very different RSC with a full pre season behind him. He just didn't seem up to match fitness recently. Let's get him in early and work with him to get him up to speed.

Sorry - which is it - Kean doesn't have an eye for talent, or he is a puppet that does whatever the owners tell him ? The last transfer was a moderate success - JJ was a success, RSC not. Rochina showed enough to think he could be a real success (and he was always bought as one for the future) - and the jury is out with Formica (but he drastically improved in reserve matches towards the end of the season). The Anderson kid - doesn't look good based on performances in Scotland - but I am prepared to see how he shapes up and not pre-judge on who his father is. That leaves us with the current window - rumours of RSC - and that is about it - and yet you can say that Kean does or doesn't have an eye for talent is absolutely beyond me.

Speaking with a former Scottish footballer, he rates Myles Anderson Conferance level at best, out of his depth in the Scottish prem, but we will wait and see.
Dunnfc Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Outside Media Pressure, thrown into the deep end half way through a season, appointed after a well liked manager by players. Kean has had a harder job coping this, than he would if he was managing Man Utd. It's his first job managerily and yes mistakes have been made but i'm sticking by him. Judge him after some games this season. Hes developed, Hoilett and Olsson and contributed to Jones and Hanley. Don't forget Lowe. I like the guy, he's made some cracking signings like JJ and Rochina who i think will come good. Just give it time and in the meantime get behind the man!

I've heard that the players think he's good - not allardyce good but good - and that essentially nothing has chnaged at Rovers. it's still a club where everyone matters and where the whole team, playing staff management and all the staff associated with the club are still pulling together. (from a senior player) So perhaps kean is better than we think and most of the problems so far have been teething problems from owners who genuinely didn't know what they were getting into but are fast learners. Here's hoping.
jamiebrfc Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I can't believe nobody has posted this already, because it makes my blood boil, but how can he have the temerity to say his drink was spiked at Roverrs, and therefore basically accuse our fans / executives!!! The man has no morals.
Andy Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 His sole intention was to delay his verdict to roundabout when the season starts, taking away any risk of Venky's sacking him on being formally found guilty. It's pretty cheeky trying to wriggle out of his punishment - you don't go twice over the legal limit by accident or by having one or two shandies. He failed at the roadside and also back at the station on the larger machine - he was caught red-handed and needs to take his punishment.
jamiebrfc Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Just can't believe he would drag the clubs name through the mud too, what kind of a man does that? Imagine doing it at your own work and basically blaming one of the directors or investors etc. He doesn't care as long as he evades his punishment.

Kelbo Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I don't believe a word of that story RVR, but if he pays 6m for RSC he wants shooting. Its well documented, I dont like Kean, but I dont even believe he is stupid enough to pay so much for Santa Cruz, even his fans would have to raise an eyebrow or two if he went along that route, I think, along with his renowned agent, they will really be looking to pull some rabbits out of the hat this transfer window, if they do, well done, if they dont??????????????
John Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Think it will be an interesting transfer window for us.
Tris Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Speaking with a former Scottish footballer What a surprise - Kelbo is name dropping again. What new nationality did he pick?
