  1. 1. Should Steve Kean stay or go

Recommended Posts

Got it from excellent authority ie a very high standing barrister that Kean will NOT get off with it.

TBH Philip I find it totally embarrassing and rather arrogant for anyone to plead innocent with the above evidence against them.

He's probably going to fork out ££££££££'s trying to get himself off the hook only because he can afford to.....GOBSHYTE!.

What difference does it make he will just hire a driver and he will not go to jail.

At least he will lose his licence and not kill some poor bugger on some road.

I think drink driving is one of the most heinous things that a person can do in a vehicle (and I have been to Thailand)

It does seem a bit dodgy that he was pulled over and breathalised because it doesn't look like he's also being charged with speeding or dangerous driving. In which case, what made them pull him over if he wasn't breaking any laws?

Was he set-up??

It's impossible not to drive irratically if you're twice over the legal limit.

I wonder that if Sam had been caught drink driving during his tenure that he would have been on the end of such bile. While I agree drink driving is a serious thing he is not the first and won't be the last to be caught doing it.

By certain posters? Too right he would, and you know that!

To get to 150mg/dl alcohol in his blood, one glass of wine would have had to be spiked with enough neat alcohol to make it taste like petrol. To say he didn't notice is rubbish.

Is this truly his defense? Is there a link to a source?

Personally I would have had him not mention the Champions League at all.

I would have stated that Manure were sniffing around Phil like a dog in heat and apart for a divine intervention, no one escapes the clutches of Darth Redbeak. And whilst we are sorry for the loss we are somewhat mollified by the huge wad of cash that we extorted out of Manchester Utd's infernal clutches - due in no small part to their thoroughly insidious ways of seducing young talent. We wish him all the best as he is initiated with hot pokers, cat blood, black turnips and a live quail. Furthermore we earnestly hope that selling his soul is worth the momentary, and quite fleeting, burst of fame.

But I am not a football manager.

You should be. :tu::rover:

Is there no low that you will not sink too? :P

Is this a new stick to beat him with - the fact that he won't do a Phil Brown?

He can't win, can he? He shows ambition and he's lying. Why shouldn't he have hopes for the club he manages? I do admit I don't like the drink driving issues at all. But I really don't like the use of such names, it isn't necessary.

Ambition is fine but to say Rovers can get into the Champions League is nonsensical and an insult to supporters who live in the real world and know that it is impossible to achieve without spending hundreds of millions of pounds on the world's best players. Just ask Manchester City.

It is statement's like this that make Kean and Rovers a laughing stock.

But who knows what may happen in the next 5 or 10 years? City fans dreaming of the Champions league 5 years ago would have been laughed at as deluded too. I know it's unlikely that we will find a rich sugar daddy and I'm by no means certain I want one, but it could happen.

But it's SO unlikely. And Kean didn't even say it in a 'you never know' manner, he said he was 'sure' we would get there.

Luckily there are fairly big transfer stories around at the moment and the press are, so far, ignoring the embarrassing comment.

Fans are allowed to be unrealistic ambitions. Well, sometimes even they are called fools.

But for the manager of the club, a professional football guy, he has a lot more credibility at stake.

Ambition and positivity is a good thing if channelled correctly. But not when it's delivered in such a way as to patronise fans.

It's about as likely as our previous manager managing Real Madrid. :D

He should have just stayed off the subject really.

Exactly.

If Venky's put their money where their mouth is- window after window after window, then Kean may be proved right all along (hmmm). Otherwise just don't invite ridicule on yourself when you are trying to prove yourself as a manager of substance.

Drama queens ;)

If he'd have said "We've no chance of making the champions league places, ever" you'd all have been hammering him for a lack of ambition.

He's the manager of Blackburn Rovers football club and that isn't going to change, I suggest you support the guy for now.

Would you rather him come out and say we'll be a club playing for survival next few seasons? That we'll be playing for nothing. If he thinks we can get into the CL then fair play, he's got ambition. I bet none of you would have thought Birmingham would have won a trophy last season, but they managed it. Why can't we?

To be fair, he could have said europe as opposed to the champions league. Ambition is great and i am happy the manager is showing some, but he could have expressed his ambition in a more realistic way.

Challenging for europe and domestic cups would have been ambitious and more realistic.

Yep. That's what I wanted.

I mean, they were the only two choices after all; say he's sure we'll be in the Champion's League, or say we have nothing to play for.

I'm going to leave this conversation now it's descended to this level already.

I remember Sparky saying he was aiming for Europe the season after he took over when we were close to the bottom of the league. At the time I thought no chance, then we signed Bellamy, Bentley etc.. and the rest is history.

It changed the mentality of the whole club to the point that we expected a top 7 position because the manager demanded it.

I'm not saying that this is going to happen next season but I think Kean is trying to change the mentality of the club to think big.

Whether it will work or not we will have to wait and see.

Kean has been talking the talk but if he fails to deliver in his first 10 games or so and it looks like we are going to have another relegation scrap then I reckon he will get sacked anyway. This un sackable thing is balls, if Venkys give him millions to spend and he blows it then he will take the blame.

On the other hand he might lead us to europe next season and we can stick two fingers up at everyone who has been taking the pish for the last few months.

Until we sign some players its impossible to say what we expect for next season.

I would rather him be realistic, he would get far more respect for that. Fans aren't all stupid.
