the owners need to sack him now and don't let him waste the 50million reported on dire players. He will not be able to attract the players we need and other players like samba and Holliet will leave this summer if kean stays in charge. Hughes needs talking to now and appointed A.S.A.P!!!!

I dont think Kean will have a huge say in who will be bought & how much is spent, so no need to worry about him wasting 50million

Yes, I am sure he will be consulted on the type of players needed but by the sounds of what Nicko said about this weeks summit & the talk about a director of football Kean will remain more of a coach than most of us expect!!

I wonder what Ferguson and Arry think about Chelsea sacking their mate Carlo and bringing in a rookie manager? Not heard a peep out of them for some reason, although they had plenty to say when we potted Allardyce.

Striking similarities between the appointment of Kean and Villas Boas, maybe, just maybe Venkys are more forward thinking than they're being given credit for.

Watch this space.

As much as I am all for giving Kean time I dont think he can hardly be compared to Boas. This guy won it all in his first season in Portugal including a European trophy. Could Kean ever achieve this? As much as I would want him to I think it is safe to say it is beyond him.

We weren't favourites for the league though were we?

I don't think its a great comparison but it's not a stupid one. Boas had a full season. Hasn't had that yet.

Villas-Boas has far more of a pedigree than Kean. Worked under Sir Bobby Robson with Mourinho then worked for Mourinho at Chelsea. He then managed Porto, with 49 wins out of 58 games and won four trophies in his first season.

Villas-Boas is a far better manager than Kean. Gav I thought you would have checked out Villas-Boas before you came out with those absurd comments.

Villas-Boas had been a manager before Porto and he had a 100% losing record.

I know plenty about Villa Boas RVB, he worked under Mourinho as a scout, did some work at Ipswich and in Scotland, and has managed for 1 season in a mickey mouse league with inherited players, that said the boys done well for sure, I take nothing away from him.

His experience is similar to Keans, a point to debate, instead of the usual cr@p weve been talking about for months.

Haha, well done GAV, you are quite the angler these days. :D

You should engage brain before posting Matty :tu:

The appointment is similar to Keans if you take them blinkers off :D

Is it? He has just won the quadruple- including the UEFA Cup.

Steve Kean was plucked from first team coach duties at Ewood Park- mainly due to the fact he had the same advisors as the owners.

In that they both have limited experience as managers it's similar. Though as you rightly say, Kean didn't win 4 trophies in a foreign country and then get headhunted for the position of manager!

made a great start, showed plenty of promise and plays exciting expansive football, but

boas is still a rookie.. (the guy is 8 months older than frank lampard).

even chelski realise this and want hiddink as director of football to help guide Boas and also AND THIS IS A BIG FACTOR... they know if boas messes up.. they have a ready made replacemnt who can just step in!

however, kean has more knowledge and experience of the english game.. after coaching and managing in the premier league.. ;)

neither did boas.. he is from portugal! :P;)

The two appointments are nothing alike. Villa Boas is widely regarded as the next big thing and was thought to be behind Jose's success at Chelsea where he was the opposition scout and made many in Europe look ordinary. I'm not gonna dog Steve Kean but these appointments couldn't be any different.

Gav, are you sure you are not feeling unwell?

League/Cup double in the league which provided both finalists in the Europa League the equivalent of Kean supping his way round the backrooms of Fulham and Real Sociedad?
