Gav, are you sure you are not feeling unwell?

League/Cup double in the league which provided both finalists in the Europa League the equivalent of Kean supping his way round the backrooms of Fulham and Real Sociedad?

He had no experience when given the Porto job (apart from his failed venture with the British Virgin Islands). Disproving the notion that we need to replace Kean with someone with "experience". Vilas-Boas was also given a full season. I'm sure there were people like you crying about an "amateur" been given the task of managing the "biggest club in Portugal". I bet they aren't still prattling on about it.

I can't wait until the start of the season.

You had better hope we start really badly or you are going to get a very hard time on here. I'm sure that's not what you are hoping for though.....

boas has managed in a sub standard league.. phillip.

a league and cup double in portugal.. where there are 3 big clubs and an emerging braga... should be put his acheivements into a bit more context.

he's a bright young manager and i like his style and philosphies.. but he is untested in england.. and like i said even chelski are taking out insurance against him failing (by getting hiddink as DOF).

i dont get your point about kean supping his way etc.. he's a well respected coach and assistant in the game.. jury;s out on him as a manager, but dont degrade or discount his knowledge just so its fits in with your blinkered view!

kean's a well respected coach and assistant in the game..

Obviously correct because he has held several such posts with various clubs. Doesn't make him a manager though. Ask Brian Kidd.

here's 1 ive found straight off.. though he's probably changed his tune now! :P

Rovers players aren't going to say anything else. He might be well respected as a coach within the game, or he might not. It's just this is used as "fact", when really, it's totally unprovable.

What about PJ, or EHD, don't hear anything negative from those guys either, even Kalinic has moaned about a lack of chances but nothing specific against Kean.

Are you forgetting Samba's outbursts so soon?

Did Samba say he was an awful coach then? Wait, I'll answer that - no he didn't.

You're off on one again in order to fend off anyone bad mouthing Kean - even when they haven't.

Did Samba say he was an awful coach then? Wait, I'll answer that - no he didn't.

He was quoted as saying plenty about the instability of the club and more than hinted at his lack of faith in the new ownership (which I'm sure covered their decision to appoint Kean).

Point being, if those quotes were correct and he wasn't aiming his remarks at Keans arrival (to the position he found himself in), the fact he didn't specifically single him out can be seen as a plus for Kean. If he was fine going against the owners do you reckon he'd care about going against Kean? Maybe he'd done nothing wrong though. Perhaps.

Did you not infer where is the evidence that Kean is a good coach? I highlighted that even players who have left have nothing bad to say about him. If that's not what you inferred then I apologise, however interesting you said that I'm fending off criticism of Kean when ironically if you actually read my messages you'd know I have wanted him gone-still do as long as we get a decent manager. However I'm not blinkered so can good and bad in most things.

Not sure how you prove that someone is respected by other people other than by what other people say about them. Is there some sort of empirical measure you would like to use instead?

Instability of the club, yes. He said nothing about his reputation as a coach, which is what we're discussing.

And although you'd expect Rovers players to be relatively polite in comments for public consumption, you'd expect them to be less circumspect in private conversations. However, even there I know of one at least who says he's good.
