  1. 1. Should Steve Kean stay or go

Recommended Posts

Did you not infer where is the evidence that Kean is a good coach?

I asked how Zacc knew that Kean was well respected, as a coach, within the game. Of course the rovers players aren't going to say in public, he's a terrible coach.

There's no inference there at all.

Instability of the club, yes. He said nothing about his reputation as a coach, which is what we're discussing.

Which makes me feel he has no issues with Kean when it comes to being a manager or a coach. If anyone was going to reveal how bad he really was, it would have been Samba given the other things he was saying. He didn't though.

We don't know how Samba feels about Keans coaching abilities. The point is a simple one - when people repeat on here that Kean is well respected as a coach within the game, they really don't know whether that's true or not.

That's all.

He was hired by Sam as a coach and turned down a Chelsea coaching offer ergo...

Ok as a starting point Craig Brown has said that Kean was one of the best up and coming coaches in the game.

Secondly Chelsea wanted him as Assistant Manager- does that not show that his reputation in the game is at the very least good?

Thirdly Kean turned down jobs at SPL clubs last year. Finally Our very own Sam did not let Kean leave the training ground without signing with us- Sam has a reputation of only hiring highly qualified people- is that enough?

Steve Kean's comments in his talksport interview where he said that he expects Rovers to be in champions league in next 3 to 4 seasons just got picked up by Durham and Gough, needless to say they took the mick.

I really wish that Kean would keep his trap shut at times.

imy...

If he was so well respected, why was his previous job in the Championship, followed by a stint on the dole?

That Chelsea thing is very misleading. It wasn't for assistant manager, it was a coach. Plus it was the fact he spoke Portuguese that was the main attraction since Scolari was arriving with poor English. Either way it didn't materialise, Kean would have been there like a shot if a concrete offer came his way.

I must admit I not against Kean getting a chance to prove his worth but like you he really needs to stop papping on about Champions league, the part where he said that I actually cringed.

If he really believes that and has convinced the owners of this he better hope we are in the top half come Christmas.

I applaud the guy for having ambition, nothing wrong with thinking big in my book, and maybe he knows funds will be made available in future to match his ambition, now there's a thought :o

Fortunately I don't care what other people think. He can say what he likes, and if he doesn't deliver then he'll be out. I don't see why people are complaining at that.

Exactly

What about PJ, or EHD, don't hear anything negative from those guys either, even Kalinic has moaned about a lack of chances but nothing specific against Kean.

That imy9 would be unprofessional. The truth or reality is very different from a few of the first teamers at least and PJ was one of them.

I wonder what Ferguson and Arry think about Chelsea sacking their mate Carlo and bringing in a rookie manager? Not heard a peep out of them for some reason, although they had plenty to say when we potted Allardyce.

Striking similarities between the appointment of Kean and Villas Boas, maybe, just maybe Venkys are more forward thinking than they're being given credit for.

Watch this space.

If what you say is true then why didn't Abromovich simply sign Steve Kean?

hear hear kamy..you would of thought that by now he would of learned that. IF we did all well and good but to sprout all this crap he comes out with when we could have gone down is bloody crazy and shows rovers up and makes us a laughing stock.

I know you're desperate to turn us all into Keanettes, Braddock, but I asked zaccaius.

There are more than a few on here heading for a fall den. We scrapped and clawed our way to safety on a wing and a prayer, we were all metaphorically holding our breath on the last day of the season after one of the worst run of results in the clubs history. We all owe the previous manager a debt of gratitude for amassing a mid table haul of points before he was knifed in the back. Many still feel that we survived only because the players took matters for the run in into their own hands in a ht dressing room mutiny v BPool. Since then the manager totally failed to convince the best prospect that we have had in years that his near future was at the club and we lost him to the one club that we all detest above any other (bar 1)..... yet all of a sudden there's been a mood swing which has seen Kean transform into a well respected and accomplished coach who is equally as good as the Porto coach who has just cost Chelsea close on 30m.

What is it they say about pride always coming before a fall?

It's a bit deeper than that Abbey. He's obviously saying these things to please his bosses, while at the same time trying to kid the fans. A manager who wanted proper respect and truly believed that his methods were the only way to take the club forward, would tell his bosses, the players and the fans the hard facts of English Premier League football - and he would spell out the way forward for Blackburn Rovers. If he was right, the fans would go along with him.

true den, thats what i meant. Surely by now ,if they read this board(har har) then they cant be that thick to know that the fans are not brain deads and have a history with this club through our frigging grandparents and not just a play thing.

Gav I have problem with someone having ambition, but to come out with this at this time is just going to result in more ridicule. We only just avoided relegation and to get into the champions league you have got to spend a heck of a lot of money. If we had finished in the top 6 then maybe I could understand this kinda talk but at this stage it is ridiculous to be coming out with these kinda statements. We are a million miles of challenging the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs for a champions league spot.
