If David Lowe has joined Rovers as first team coach then has Iain Bruskill left or are we having to first team coaches this season?

I would guess Brunskill back to coaching the reserves, not seen or heard anything further on Lowe.

So it's looking like a mean coaching staff set up of Kean, Jensen, Lowe - Champions League, we are coming for you!

Gav I have problem with someone having ambition, but to come out with this at this time is just going to result in more ridicule. We only just avoided relegation and to get into the champions league you have got to spend a heck of a lot of money. If we had finished in the top 6 then maybe I could understand this kinda talk but at this stage it is ridiculous to be coming out with these kinda statements. We are a million miles of challenging the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs for a champions league spot.

Indeed. I am massively ambitious for Blackburn Rovers, I don't want us to just survive. But, you need to be realistic.

So surely, all Kean needed to say was 'we don't want to be looking over our shoulders, we want to get up the table, try and win a cup, improve the squad'.

My heart sinks when i hear Champions league nonsense. To have a goal you need to support it with a clear strategy that current and potential players as well as fans can see and believe in.

Re signing Benjani, possibly selling Kalinic feels more like championship league to me.

There are more than a few on here heading for a fall den. We scrapped and clawed our way to safety on a wing and a prayer, we were all metaphorically holding our breath on the last day of the season after one of the worst run of results in the clubs history. We all owe the previous manager a debt of gratitude for amassing a mid table haul of points before he was knifed in the back. Many still feel that we survived only because the players took matters for the run in into their own hands in a ht dressing room mutiny v BPool. Since then the manager totally failed to convince the best prospect that we have had in years that his near future was at the club and we lost him to the one club that we all detest above any other (bar 1)..... yet all of a sudden there's been a mood swing which has seen Kean transform into a well respected and accomplished coach who is equally as good as the Porto coach who has just cost Chelsea close on 30m.

What is it they say about pride always coming before a fall?

Yeah Theno. That's exactly what was meant when comparing Kean and Villas-Boas. We were all pretty shocked that Roman didn't come and try and poach Kean. Maybe Roman couldn't afford him?

I'm also glad our players decided to manage the team without even mentioning it to anyone, not a peep. They aren't all mercenaries and it appears that all players do make good managers after all.

Thanks to Sam as well for gracing us with his presence last season. He was big enough to admit he didn't even want to be here.

I look forward to next season. At the back end of last season (quite soon after they assumed the managers poasition) our players were showing signs of really getting it together and becoming good managers, so hopefully we can push on. Do they come up with the transfer targets as well?

It was not Keans failure that made Jones leave for Manchester United, it was the players desire to be part of the biggest club in the world. No manager could have talked him into staying at Blackburn.

I have my misgivings about Kean, but I don't try and find reasons to put him down.

Disappointed with you.

My worry with Kean is the unknown factor, he still is not proven at all. He showed on many occasions he was out of his depth as manager - from talking about always playing two strikers to being unsure on the correct formation. In addition, thinking we could outscore teams proved to be nearly fatally wrong.

With new players coming in, does he have the nous and experience of bedding them in and knowing his best 11/formation?

Loads of question marks and he has it all to do, this time starting off with zero points.

Fair concerns, John, but you've got to cut him some slack. The guy was promoted into a high-pressure job, slap-bang in the middle of the season. I'd be astonished if he didn't make mistakes or show any naivety.

I do think he's too eager to win over the fans/owners with all this CL talk, but hey, he's only putting pressure on himself - which is a good thing. Makes a change from managers downplaying everything about the club to feed their own ego.

Too early to start the Kean knocking again but I am slightly worried about his transfer comments. IMO getting players in by the first game is risky. We are going to be overhauling the squad, if we don't hit the ground running with any new players fully fit and familiar with the system ie a full pre season - we will be in the brown stuff come mid August.

imy...

If he was so well respected, why was his previous job in the Championship, followed by a stint on the dole?

That Chelsea thing is very misleading. It wasn't for assistant manager, it was a coach. Plus it was the fact he spoke Portuguese that was the main attraction since Scolari was arriving with poor English. Either way it didn't materialise, Kean would have been there like a shot if a concrete offer came his way.

Firstly it was assistant coach, Scolari being Head Coach, so it was for a number two. So speaking Portuguese was main attraction not whether he was a good coach or not!! Come on this is Chelsea FC who have just paid 13.3 million in compo- they want the best- simple.

Think you will find Kean said no and stayed at Coventry- that is a fact.

I'll say this again just because Kean was not working with a football club does not mean he was unemployed- do you have evidence to suggest otherwise. I have seen Kean listed in a number of places as a lead speaker.

Kean is thought of highly in the game- there are many ex managers, players etc who speak and think highly of him- that does not make him the man for our club but he does possess qualities.

I see the Steve Kean bashing is still in full swing even though the season is over and as such he hasn't actually done anything wrong recently.

Funny how some people only seem to remember our bad run and not our superb finish in the last 4 or 5 games as well.

All that said resigning garbage like Benjani when we supposedly have c 30m to spend isn't encouraging at all. We could really do with seeing a couple of impreessive signings coming in sooner rather than later to give everyone a lift in the wake of Jones' departure and to prove the manager's credentials.

Robinson and Hoillet haven't penned new deals yet either as far as I'm aware. That also needs sorting asap and would tend to indicate the manager has the support of the vast majority of the squad,

I'm not saying he will take us to the top, but I believe he can get us mid table next season, and I'll be happy with that as it'll be a hell of a lot more fun to watch than Allardyce. It could all go wrong for him but as for now he has my backing and I'm excited for the future. I'll remember this post incidentally, when things turn out at least OK, as I can see them doing.

Then by inference if Kean is as good as him so must we be. Well done braddock, nice own goal.

Congratulations on spotting the sarcasm you absolute moron

Is he working with the Academy? I was told that someone from the Merseyside area was coming to fill the gap in the Academy left by Gary Bowyer moving up to the Reserves.

What sane ambitious highly talented coach turns down being No. 2 at Chelsea to stay at Coventry, surely such a talented coach could have aided Scolari's cause?

Coaching role or mouthpiece for Big Phil?

Don't forget he had worked with Chris Coleman for many years, so he probably had loyalty to him.

Personaly find it refreshing that at least Kean is showing some ambition as they say you hardly ever get more than you set out to acheive.

Saying that I did vote for keen out.. simply because of his track record so far and many of his tactical decisions.

Would love to be proved wrong and it would be nice to have a young brit manager but I just get bad vibes from the chap.

What Kean's been saying isn't ambition, it's a bunch of psychological babble. Old motivational trick: set your goals high, so that you have more room to fall. Supposedly with the idea that if we set our goal for 15th place then we would either reach 15th or lower, but if we set it for 5th then we could finish either 5th or lower.

Just keep saying it and people will believe it's true, no need to actually tell us about any plan they have to get us there.

He's saying that we can go from a relegation-threatened club to Champions League football within 3-4 seasons, but he's skipping everything in between.

To quote the underpants gnomes:

"First step: steal underwear. Second step........ Third step: PROFIT!!!"

If Kean does not match BFS last league finishing position he has failed end of story.

Loyalty Maji towards Coleman. Real Sociedad offered Kean the managers job when Coleman left and he again turned it down out because he wanted to remain loyal to Coleman.
