braddock Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I'm still genuinely interested if thenodrog said that about Indian businesspeople, but I'm willing to leave it. He has gone quiet even though he's given replies after I first questioned it but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and presume he either didn't see it or went offline before he had a chance to respond. It would be better if we made a specific thread for these things and then it can stay out of the main Kean thread, like an argument thread which it can be directed to, and the mods can have the unsavoury task of reading through that and being harsh on bannings as soon as anyone crosses the line. Kean has my support until he proves to me he can't do the job, isn't living up to his promises or Venky's feel we need to move on in order to match their ambitions.

roversmum Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Can you find evidence anywhere which counters that- especially from Chelsea? Exactly. Quite so. he was offered the post. I can remember it being reported in the news,so I had a little google (not difficult) and here it is
PAFELL Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Quite so. he was offered the post. I can remember it being reported in the news,so I had a little google (not difficult) and here it is Nice one Roversmum - ends the was he, was he not debate. Also a reminder of the missed oportunity Rovers had to get rid.
Amo Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Nice one Roversmum - ends the was he, was he not debate. Also a reminder of the missed oportunity Rovers had to get rid. Derp. He wasn't at Rovers then.
PAFELL Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Derp. He wasn't at Rovers then. Ok I only read the headline of what roversmum linked (unlike me not to read the small print )
thenodrog Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 stop repeating the same sentence over and over again! you're coming across as an idiot and childish! its a forum.. so debate.. or just read and dont say anything! The quote originated from Gav not Greco. Why have you doctored it?
DanLad Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Nice one Roversmum - ends the was he, was he not debate. Doesn't put it to bed for me. The article is only based on what he said and I have difficulty believing anything he says. I have serious concerns over is credibility.
imy9 Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 As I have said already why have Chelsea not denied it? Why have Coleman or the Coventry chairman not denied it? Next you'll be saying he is not qualified or he was not offered jobs by SPL clubs.
onlyonejackwalker Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 The discussions regarding Steve Kean are almost a carbon copy of the discussions that surrounded Sam Allardyce on many Rovers forums and messageboards. With the exception that the roles of the poster's seem to have been reversed. There seems to be no middle ground, although some at times have tried to find some. Clearly it was a pathetic effort last season by all concerned to take us so close to relegation. Squad's new to the league and even the very worst teams were taking points off us with ease. Kean as manager must take a large share of the blame as must the players who obviously started bitching and fretting and lost focus and direction. Relegation would have had lasting untold damage to a club like ours and there was no need for the problems experienced last year at all. Certain players were slaughtered and it is now widely acknolwedged that we need replacements. I would imagine there is common agreement amongst all that post that we need new players. If the players are questioned, it is obviousl that people will question the manager's abilities as well. Personally speaking I wonder how can anyone be happy with Kean in charge? All we have to go in is his time here and as far as I could see he managed to take a steady away mid-table outfit to the brink of relegation whilst waxing 5 million on new players in the process. Honestly, my granny could have done that. It was rubbish. I cannot understand why we have been lumbered with Kean. Who is he and what has he done and why on earth do some believe he is the next best thing to sliced bread? Help? Rovers are an attractive prospect for many manager's as demonstrated by the big names we have been able to attract over the last 20 years or so. Why are we shopping at Iceland for the key position at the club? Perhaps if I could understand this point I could move on as well and aim for that middle ground.
greco Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Can you find evidence anywhere which counters that- especially from Chelsea? Exactly. why would i.? its you who labelled him as loyal, its you who claimed it was a sign of quality. Yet here we are, with only steve"someone spiked my drink" kean, as the only one who stated it. If you are a person willing to believe anything you read, surely you must be willing to give allardyce the same benefit of the doubt, when he stated he was stabbed in the back by "someone within the club". IMo opinion insinuating it was kean. roversmums article is written on the basis of what..? oh yeah you guessed it, solely on the word of kean, just as i stated numerous times. I was recently approached by nasa , but i refused.. are you/imy still awaiting their denial..?

(in my opinion) Because SEM are his agency As for the fans, (in my opinion) some want him out, some realise he aint going anywhere, so lets get on with it, very few think he SHOULD be manager.
A cup of beans Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 The quote originated from Gav not Greco. Why have you doctored it? the 1st quote did.. but greco repeated it about another 50 times.. nit picking again, gordon.. you and greco will get on well.. he seems to have similar views to yourself.. and he's always on the wind-up! Why is he manager? (in my opinion) Because SEM are his agency correct.. but he IS rovers manager.. give him chance to prove himself.. if he doesnt he will be sacked!
rebelmswar Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Can we rename this thread "Steven Kean" please? Its only proper.
greco Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 the 1st quote did.. but greco repeated it about another 50 times.. nit picking again, gordon.. you and greco will get on well.. he seems to have similar views to yourself.. and he's always on the wind-up! correct.. but he IS rovers manager.. give him chance to prove himself.. if he doesnt he will be sacked! they say sarcasm, is the lowest form of wit, but even that seems too difficult, for you to grasp. you "attacking" others for repeating themselves, really is a case of irony and in its purest form. Again a concept, far above the capabilities of your intellect. as usual facts are something, you have a diffficult time with, gav didnt post it once, he posted it twice. (hint.. sarcasm may have occured)
thenodrog Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 the 1st quote did.. but greco repeated it about another 50 times I must have told you a million times not to exaggerate!
mike at picture Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 The quote originated from Gav not Greco. Why have you doctored it? [/quote/) Greco is still posting? What gives mods?
waggy Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 saw the back end of a interview with ryan nelsen on the local premier league show,he was talking about the brothers grim and then got on to talk about the manager.these were his words WE ALL LOVE STEPHEN,when asked about the sacking of hoofball,he said thats the nature of football, and one day all footballers and managers face the boot.so all you speculaters who talked about a players revolt etc, were just fanning the flames,i believe a die in the wool roverite like nelsen over all of you

My common sense told me that for Steve Kean to say what he did with no denials from anyone meant it was 99% accurate/ close as we are going to get to the truth- you obviously have an agenda. Oh yeah I did find this after a few clicks on google: http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/coventry-chairman-delighted-kean-rejected-chelsea-190283 Give me time I'm going to request access to the contract then we can verify it lol
cruz Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Fat head implied that he was stabbed in the back because an overinflated ego of gargantuan proportions like his cannot ever contemplate being sacked because he's a dour long ball merchant who's style could send a glass eye to sleep

Is kean ambitious? once again , youve jumped the gun and based your entire argument, on something so vague, that it completely falls apart. again an article without sense or purpose. In every article its mentioned, kean got the call and later told the club, surely your common/spider sense would tell you, that you dont call the coach, but approach the club first and then get permission. BUT noooo some unknown dude from the scolari camp called kean.. sam claimed to be stabbed in the back, insinuating it was kean imo. Does this in your world cónstitute concrete proof.??? as you believe, what was written about kean on such vague and weak grounds, regarding the chelsea link. I would imagine you would too regarind the backstabbing story. right.?? got nasa´s denial yet..? then surely it must 99% true, that i got approached by them.
BangkokRover Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 On talksport Samaba wants to go Arsenal, Arsenal also wanted Jones but they were to slow. Laughing at Kean talking about Champions League.
cruz Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Media cocks laughed at Jack saying he wanted to win the league in 4 years. That's why said cocks never give us any credit for nearly averaging 3 goals a game at home that season and painted us as dire, workmanlike champions

That Kean was not offered the Assistant Coaches job at Chelsea? Well we have Steve Kean saying and it and the Chairman of Coventry City supporting that. You asked me to provide evidence there it is. Now do you have ONE shred of evidence ANYWHERE that disproves the above? Ironic you are claiming that I am using my 'spidey' senses when in fact your entire argument is based on guesswork and you have created a narrative that Mr Andersen would be proud of Occam's razor and all that.
BangkokRover Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Media cocks laughed at Jack saying he wanted to win the league in 4 years. That's why said cocks never give us any credit for nearly averaging 3 goals a game at home that season and painted us as dire, workmanlike champions So you are comparing Kean or Venkeys to Uncle Jack?
Parsonblue Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Media cocks laughed at Jack saying he wanted to win the league in 4 years. That's why said cocks never give us any credit for nearly averaging 3 goals a game at home that season and painted us as dire, workmanlike champions Please don't tell me that saint Kean is now being compared to Jack? And people wonder why we have become such a joke to some. For any manager, outside of the top five or six clubs, to talk about Champions League is a joke. It's not just about being able to throw money at it - and I suspect it would take far more money than Venky's have to break into that top four - but it's also about the infrastructure of the club. Let's get real. How many have the Champions League clubs have to reduce ticket prices to the levels we have to do in order to get a crowd of 25,000? The Champions League clubs are pulling further and further away from the rest due to the finances that being in that competition provides them. The reality is that the Europa League is the best bet for European football for the majority of clubs and even then it comes via a cup win or the "Fair Play League" as the League qualification is likely to be taken by one of the big six who miss out on the Champions League. With sensible investment on the part of Venkys and with a decent manager at the helm we should be able to enjoy mid-table security and look for a decent cup run but anything more is still a big ask.
