rebelmswar Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Er in the light of recent events, I do not think Sam can be praised too much. After all, did he not bring Kean to Rovers? Sam did not deserve that dig PAFELL, that was a low blow. If his belly didn't cover them that would have hurt.

PAFELL Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Sam did not deserve that dig PAFELL, that was a low blow. If his belly didn't cover them that would have hurt. Probable not.
Steve Moss Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 You were not making a point by your own admission you decided my post was ridiculous and you wanted to ridicule me. Stop backtracking it's there for all to see now and in your own posts. Maji, just ignore braddock. He's a troll, not a serious board member. Why do we have to go through this again? In any case, if we do, you forgot to mention the dodgy ref decisions, I wonder why that was? Dodgy ref decisions are par for the course and barely warrant mentioning. I think the CL is definitely possible. Remember that SK is one of the most respected coaches in the game, highly rated by all his peers and will be highly sought-after by the so-called big clubs when Rovers start vying for the top honours over the next few seasons. I know he can be too bullish at times but the man knows what he is talking about - give him a chance. I nearly spewed my morning coffee reading that. Good going, Jim. If we spend 50 million without selling Chris "Iwannabigclub" Samba I will eat it off of Sams arse after a hectic training day and close encounters with a cornetto. The most distressing thing about that statement is I think you'd follow through, given the opportunity.
Kelbo Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 As a coach! Pity they didnt take all his teeth out and put seats in
Threepenny Bit Foot Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Straight to the point? Just about to post this myself SG194 - I'm afraid there's some truth in it. Like Don Mackay was here in the early 90's, no-one will come!
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Straight to the point? I think it's a valid argument but ultimately we will have to see what happens in this window in terms of who we sign to see whether Kean is more of a Don Mackay than a Kenny Dalglish.
Majiball Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I think it's a valid argument but ultimately we will have to see what happens in this window in terms of who we sign to see whether Kean is more of a Don Mackay than a Kenny Dalglish. I think that's quite disrespectful to both Don Mackay and Kenny.
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I think that's quite disrespectful to both Don Mackay and Kenny. I see your point and on the evidence so far I would accept that. I was just referring to the article that talks about how difficult it was for Rovers to attract players at the time despite the fact they had just come into some serious money because the manager didn't match the newfound status. Bringing in a superstar and a born winner like Kenny certainly made our transfer business easier.
Stuart Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Who would be the equivalent to Kenny now? Ancelloti? O'Neill? Rafa?
Majiball Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Who would be the equivalent to Kenny now? Ancelloti? O'Neill? Rafa? Erm Kenny Dalglish, perhaps? At the end of the day Jack came along and showed people he meant business, the current lot can't even do that. Its a pipe dream, just ask Rafa.
Stuart Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Yes, thanks Maj. I realise he's still in management but in terms of the time of their career. The thing Kenny brought was that he had recently been very successful, he was out of work, somewhat surprisingly and was up for the challenge of Jack's vision. He was also bigger than the club and dragged us up to his level.
John Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Venky's claim they are ambitious and have big plans for the club (so we keep hearing) - then surely you appoint the best people for each job. Off the pitch, I believe Paul Hunt is a decent appointment - he has a good track record and is rated by many in his field. However, in relation to our manager, you cannot say the same therefore it undermines the apparent vision of the club. Given the SEM/Kentaro link, it is quite possible Kean could have a job for life regardless of how he performs.
Stuart Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I understand where you are coming from John but ultimately his contract will be with Venkys. I imagine he would only need to cross them once.

I suppose Ancelotti about the closest although I'd hazard a guess he'd not be to keen to work with interfering owners, again.
greco Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 interesting article. finding a present time dalglish, would consitute a manager with a good reputation, internationally known and liked by the media. He doesnt have to have managed the biggest clubs, but still have experience from the best leagues and tatsted abit of succes. A guy like laudrup would imo fit the bill. as im not familiar with the english judicial system, i have to ask. How long is i until kean goes to trial.? is there allready a date set.?
Stuart Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 15th August. Clever to get his appeal heard when to sack him would cause maximum disruption. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jun/07/steve-kean-blackburn-drink-driving
roversmum Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 That's interesting, so people can arrange their own court dates now, can they? I didn't realise that.
PAFELL Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 That's interesting, so people can arrange their own court dates now, can they? I didn't realise that. Will have to be some defence to get off being twice over the limit - my view there is no defence and deserves jail. I also thought that if you were on bail you couldn't leave the country. Yet we read he has been to Canada. Just a thought, if Kean is found guilty and is jailed (which I doubt would happen)I wonder if he would retain his job. If not I wonder if Venkys have already considered Rovers may need another manager in August.

It's not as though everyone doesn't know where he is and he couldn't be found at any time. Probably has to notify someone of his whereabouts.
trs Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 i remember jan mølby, got somejailtime, but cant remember if that was speeding, a dui or both. could kean get jail time.? Footballers who have been jailed for various offences....including our beloved legend. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/there-is-no-hiding-place-behind-bars-for-the-footballers-relegated-to-serving-time-526864.html
thenodrog Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 True, Sam knew what he was doing when in first came in and knows how to get results (his experience obviously helps). It was clear Kean, at the start of his tenure, did not know the way he wanted to play and his best eleven, especially during his/our rocky spell. So why was he given the job, then when it was clear that he was out of his depth a long contract John? I think it's a valid argument but ultimately we will have to see what happens in this window in terms of who we sign to see whether Kean is more of a Don Mackay than a Kenny Dalglish. By then it will be too late rvr. The Prem is an unforgiving environment where any weaknesses and mistakes are quickly found out and punished. That Anderson will have to play a blinder to keep his meal ticket in a job.
