  1. 1. Should Steve Kean stay or go

Recommended Posts

Whether you like Kean or not, a good stat below - think it can be forgotten that we finished the season pretty well (along with some fairly difficult fixtures).

Steve Kean's side collected eight points from a possible 12 in their last four games

Stats are strange things.

Did you know that in the last 5 minutes of his life, Hitler only killed one person, a dog, and himself.

You're an idiot. If it's as dangerous as you suggest, surely alcohol will only increase that danger. You idiot.

Missed my point completely. I won't bother explaining to you given I have zero respect for any of your opinions.

But was that down to Kean or a collective effort on behalf of the players?

Or perhaps, most likely, both?

Also, no excuse on drink driving.

Everyone knows the law and to flout them is inconsiderate to the safety of other road users.

Eh? Mark Hughes had put together the best Welsh side in 50 years and was already a respected manager.

Steve Kean had not managed at ANY LEVEL at all.

comparing Hughes with Kean? I've heard it all now.

I've bought this over from the Summer Transfer thread.

I'm not comparing them with each other. Hughes was untested at PL level just as Kean was. Yet, many were willing to give him a chance.

We all know International management is very different to managing in the PL.

Like I said, judge Kean on his 1st FULL season in charge. His last 4 results show he is more than capable of doing a good job here at Rovers.

What were the stats before getting to the last 4 games?

cant believe some people think keane is the messiah. Some of you claim he was the reason we stayed up. What you seem to forget is HE GOT US INTO THAT MESS. Yes rovers had a good end to the season, they had to otherwise certain players' contracts would have been ripped up as we wouldnt have been able to afford their wages in the championship. Staying up, is more to do with the players realising a few home truths rather than kean's 'management'. If he gets us off to a good start to the season i will give him time. If we end up around the bottom of the table after the first couple of months then he has to go. Simple.

Sounds about right to me as well. The players had a gathering / get together around the Fulham match and clearly all agreed to put their differences behind them and to try and safeguard their futures (and by definiton) the club's at that time.

However, Kean does deserves some credit for selecting a regular eleven and keeping a steady ship at that crucial time, but equally also deserves major criticism for getting us into that mess in the first place.

If today's rumours are true and a new owners arrive, then thankfully Kean's days are numbered. Anyone with an modicum of football knowledge will remove him due to his footballing inabilities and anyone with a modicum of respect and decency would remove him for drink driving and tarnishing the club's name.

personally i think if all these venkys rumours are true, kean should walk out though i doubt he is honourable enough to do that. If it had been a sam allardyce type then i guess that would happen. I suppose big sam knew what he was getting into before the rest of us. If only we could have been forewarned.

Honour and Kean? polar opposites.

LEts just hope his contract wasn't a real managers salary.

Any evidence from the past to back that claim up? Other than him angling to jump ship to the far east for ££££££££'s?

If Venkys sell, Kean will be the first man out the door. Anyone prepared to think he'll get another managerial job offer?

Certainly West Ham wouldn't have considered him!

Don't think Sam would give him a job at whu. I do not think, if he was sacked by rovers, that he would get another job in football.

He's supposed to be a very good coach!

MAybe not as a manager but i'm willing to bet a fair number of clubs would be happy to take him on as a coach.

Let's not get silly now, if he were ever to leave here, Kean would def find another role in football as a coach or I even could see a SPL side taking a punt on him as manager.

He is merrily building up the qualifications and experience on his CV whilst at the Rovers and on the back of that it is reasonable to assume he would be employed somewhere else at some stage if leaving the club. Especially as a coach at a lower league club, or as John mentions in Scotland, or perhaps abroad in a lesser league.

Unfortunately and not suprisingly no-one has been rushing in to try and recruit him close season however so we are stuck with him for now.
