Wiggy
Have to say that although I would have been delighted to see Kean leave the club at the end of last season, if he were to walk out now it would be very bad for the club - even though I still don't think he's remotely up to being manager. There's no way Venky's would get any half decent replacement, and it would hugely add to the sense of crisis at the club if we can't even hang on to Steve Kean. I know what you mean TGM, however, I'll have no sympathy for Kean if he is booted out. He has been a chancer of the highest order. He has been responsible for filling the heads of the Numpties from Pune with ridiculous notions of Champions League football on Championship budgets. In a way they've all deserved each other but our club may never recover from their deceit and hubris. ( As Kentaro and Anderson laugh all the way to the bank.) LeChuck
Kean is now very isolated but I would think he is more likely to be fired than walk. You don't yell at Mrs D and not pay a price. The thing is...we need someone who will put pressure on them to spend money. To sell a top young player for £16 million and not look to invest that back into the team is criminal. If Kean really does get fired for standing up to them, what chance do we have of finding a manager who will work under current conditions? Avram Grant seems a glutton for punishment in these sort of situations...maybe it's third time lucky for him?

I would be delighted to see him go, and the sooner the better. Unfortunately though I don't think it will happen. We have a much better chance of avoiding relegation next season with a half decent manager not spending any money than with Steve Kean even if he did have £50m to spend on players. I don't have the figures, so may be wrong, but I doubt if Souness, Hughes or Allardyce spent more in transfer fees than they brought in in transfer fees. They were all a lot more successful than Brian Kidd who spent a fortune and was a disaster as a manager.
LeChuck
How can Rovers spend money that they do not have to spend. Venky's were meant to be investing money into transfers. They decided to sack Allardyce and appoint Kean. That one decision alone cost millions in severance pay and lost prize money. Rovers shouldn't be footing the bill for their incompetence. It's one thing to take stupid risks like that when it's their own money, but with money borrowed against Rovers' name? It's plain wrong.
Mattyblue
As Topman rightly said on another thread, to sack a good manager mid season with only 6 months left on his contract, with millions of pounds of prize money (never mind PL status) on the line is just insanity. Incompetence on a scale that could easily topple a club of our size.

braddock
Rovers could not be worse off with no manager than with having Kean there but I have not made any secret of that opinion for quite some time now. Fool.

I think we would do better if we actually hired one. Just because you put a BMW badge on a Fiesta it doesn't actually make it one.

Teacup
Cannot help but put myself in his position (Kean's), I personally would walk. I am sure he could talk his way into a better position than the one he has now with us. Sad really, few months ago I was thinking what a great chance this is for him to catapult his career. I just fail to see how he is going to play the football style he wants/seems to prefer, without any funding. Hopefully he sees this also and gets out fast, save his career while he can. On another serious note. Surely he must realise that a lot of the interaction between us (the fans) and the squad with the new owners has been through him. We are suppose to trust him, the squad is suppose to trust him... Clearly we cannot, he probably has less of a clue what is going on than us on the forum. I know Venky's are in the wrong by what is happening, but surely they must realise how it makes Kean appear to us, the media, the squad, the world. He looks more of a puppet now than ever before which I never thought was possible. Who knows, maybe it will be Mrs.D on the touchline in the new season
Mercer
I'll throw one in. If Kean leaves on Venky's 'watch', don't be surprised to see him replaced by an 'economic' Frenchman.

I don't think the Romans could have constructed a larger catapult for his career in their wildest, sweaty, Archimedes inspired dreams than what our astute owners supplied him. I feel more pity for a smashed wasp that just stung me. My thoughts on Kean are not supplied by Venkeys, he was, to my everlasting and fierce ingratitude. Andy
Please let it be true - actually having a manager in place before the season starts would potentially give us some direction on the pitch and a fighting chance of staying up, particularly a proven manager such as Hughes.
