Gav
So a premier league player claims he would rather retire than play for Kean?? Our PR team are working overtime on this one!! "Mariano is a big fan of Steve Kean, he was very impressed with him and would love the chance to play for him. EH Diouf

DavidMailsTightPerm
Cryer on Kean. The article doesn't add a great deal of information - but is a fair assessment of the turmoil that Kean has had to deal with. He even states that the jury is out as to his managerial credentials - so fairly balanced.

beastlove
does anyone else think that Keen will be sacked this weekend? I have heard it from a decent source but don't really believe it. If they are going to sack him it should be now rather than waiting until the season has just started

Mike Graham
Just had a text from a Rovers insider saying: "Steve Kean (yuk) said this morning that he was not suprised his teams pre season tour had been cancelled. The 46 year old football visionary said "we were well prepared for the extreme poverty, medieval transport system, the language barriers and the stench of the locals, but the terrorist threat was too great". Rovers have said the trip to Nelson could go ahead in the Autumn."
John
When resigning some of our current players on new contracts in January, Kean stated he wanted an opportunity to speak with the players so he could outline the exciting plans for the club - have these "plans" ever been outlined? If so, what are they? I know that usually it comes down to money however the players must wonder what us going on working under these incompetent owners. chaddyrovers
Did Kean meeting with the owners go well? do we now have a transfer targets list sorted now? all parties agreed on it? We need 2 strikers, 1 midfielder and 1 defender at least.

We need 2 strikers, 1 midfielder and 1 defender at least. If rumors are to be believed, Honda will be flying over for a medical. That's our midfielder for you. I am confused on one thing. When Pavone was first announced to be signing, fans were up in rage against his signing because he is a freebie, his scoring record is bad, he missed a penalty that caused River Plate to be relegated, etc. And when Venkys pull the plug on the deal, the sentiment changed to Venkys not being able to afford him, etc. So should we have signed Pavone or not? Craigman
So many rumours. Even one saying he was sacked when he arrived in Hong Kong and being reported on espn. Just wish Kean and Venky's would leave.
chaddyrovers
does anybody think that the owners will be bringing in a director of football operations over Kean who will become Head Coach. Maybe someone like Gerard Houllier as DoFO, would be good because of his excellent knowledge of football and contacts in the football world. This is just a suggest tho So many rumours. When the Pavone plug was pulled the upset was more based on it demonstrating: 1) there is nothing but chaos at the club; 2) Venkys was [allegedly] being dishonest again (per Pavone's agent a deal was done but for signatures); and/or, 3) Venkys has no money it is willing to spend. I don't think Pavone is good enough for our club. I also don't think Venkys did themselves any favors by backing out of the deal. All they did was poor gasoline on fire based on points 1-3 above. I would love Honda at the club. It would go a long way to show Venkys are serious when they talk about bringing in talent. But: 1. Since when as this moved beyond mere rumor? 2. We still need to replace J. Jones and P. Jones, both of whom played the defensive midfielder role.

Would love to see Honda sign for Rovers, good move IF, it comes off. As for Pavone, yep, cant deny was one of those doubters. As above Black Burn he didnt and wouldnt have inspired with that record. As for replacing Phil Jones the young Onuhua from Man City for me looks to be a very good replacement. All of which would bring more praise for the Venky clan.
