patrickvalery Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 The man is a monster! I don't care if he does his press conferences dressed as Ronald McDonald. Its what he manages to get out of the 11 players he puts on the park which concerns me. OK some people get riled by his blind optimism, but with all the wretched things going on at the club behind the scenes, i for one think its good to have someone trying to portray a bright future for the club. Whether you believe it or not is up to you. If he can sweet talk one or two decent calibre players here then it will have been worth it. Just imagine how bad things might be if he had come out and told the bleeding truth! If he isn't in full control of transfer targets (which has been suggested) then its his sole responsibility to get the best out of what he's got. Nothing to be gained from deflating the players before a ball has been kicked in anger. With the heat firmly on Venky's this is Kean's time to shine. I for one really hope he grasps it and makes a real fist of the job. Does he have the wherewithal to do it? We shall see i guess.

Mattyblue Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 When I see Venky's stumping up their own cash (and lots of it) for transfers, not just spending the interest on the Phil Jones fee I might start taking Kean seriously.
broadsword Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Had to laugh at Revidge's comments. The club's a laughing stock, but at least the manager is showing ambition! My aim is to win the Olympic marathon next year. Haven't got a hope in hell, but it's good to show a bit of ambition. I know Kean is a gimp, but let's stop to think about this for a moment. Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum have apparently been losing interest. What better way to get their interest back than to tell them at the end of the rainbow there's a crock of gold. Crock of @#/? more like it, but they're so clueless they won't pick up on it.
chaddyrovers Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Here is what Kean said ' We are going to try to deliver European football within 3 to 4 years' He is not promising it but that is what he is going to try to do. There is nothing wrong with him showing ambition. If he did that, then most fans would be very happy with him. It will be very difficult for him to try to delivery european football, but who knows what might happen in the future. Kean can talk the talk BUT can you walk the walk, we will see!!! Here is the video of Kean and Nelsen http://www.3news.co.nz/VIDEO-Blackburn-talk-about-Villa-match-Ryan-Nelson-confident/tabid/317/articleID/220193/Default.aspx
Taggart Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I had hoped that Kean had learned his lesson about making ridiculous statements, but obviously not. I am all for optimism but this kinda stuff is ridiculous given what has happened this summer. Kean just continues to lose credibility. i thought Kean had come out and said the Champions League comments were blown out of proportion, and the aim was to get European football, presumably with the Europa League - that is the way i read it - the mention of the champions League on one fo the atricles was an added re-hash of the summer story when he did put his foot in it

thenodrog Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 If I had a choice between hearing what Kean said and say Souness or Allardyce attempting to lower expectations by saying "the target is survival" every close season I'd take what Kean says every time. Agreed and speaking personally I think we won't just qualify for the Champions League, we will actually win it in the next 2/3 years time with aggregate 6-0 scores in every round including the final against Barcelona. After that we will retain it each year for time immemorial and we will all live happily ever after. Night night and sweet dreams. There do you feel all uplifted and positive now Simon? What you need to take on board is that Kean is not speaking to the supporters in these interviews, he is speaking to the lunes in Pune. He can't bullshit them one day and then speak the truth the day after can he? He's got to keep feeding their ego's.
philipl Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Kean has the Rao family all around him in HK so he is simply telling them what he thinks they want to hear. What a shining example of integrity.
Gav Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 If I had a choice between hearing what Kean said and say Souness or Allardyce attempting to lower expectations by saying "the target is survival" every close season I'd take what Kean says every time. If you set your sights high and fail, it's not necessarily a disaster. If you set them too low and don't meet them ,it is. Anyhow what he says is largely irrelevant. If he fails to deliver results wise, he'll be out of a job no matter what he has said. If he does deliver results, I'm personally not overly bothered what he says. He also never mentioned champions league in his interview, I'd go as far as to say he never meant champions league in his interview at the back end of last season either. Regardless of that, I’d much rather hear him striving for Europe rather than the usual survival line thrown out time and time again. He's got a hard enough job as it is with those idiots running the club and telling him porkies week after week, we should back our manager, not hammer in at every opportunity.
Mattyblue Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 When did Allardyce say 'it's all about survival?' think you're confusing him with the later Souness. And as for Kean sauing CL, "Phil wants to play Champions League football now and we're not at that level," Kean said. "I'm sure we will be in the coming years, and we gave it a real good try and made him a fantastic offer, but I understand why he wants to go now. So, what does he mean GAV?
thenodrog Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Another good find chaddy! It is indeed! I can hardly believe that video. How much weight has Boy Kean put on in 6 months? If he puts on any more I'll have to get a wider screen on my laptop! He must be comfort eating (and drinking) to absoluite excess. Goodness knows what Keans's body mass index is these days but it must be way more than Allardyces!!! In fact I'd go far as to say that he's just like a a little fat slug! What do you think Tris?
dave birch Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 depends where you put your full stops Matt. It is indeed! How much weight has Boy Kean put on in 6 months? In fact I'd go far as to say that he's just like a a little fat slug! What do you think Tris? What does a comment like this add to the debate? Maybe we should add that Kean is a gingertop when he lets it grow?
thenodrog Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 depends where you put your full stops Matt. What does a comment like this add to the debate? Maybe we should add that Kean is a gingertop when he lets it grow? Dunno but it was added to plenty of debate on the Allardyce thread dave.
dave birch Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Dunno but it was added to plenty of debate on the Allardyce thread dave. Allardyce, yesterdays man I'm afraid, Theno. He means nothing to BRFC today or into immediate future.
slough_rover Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Kean has the Rao family all around him in HK so he is simply telling them what he thinks they want to hear. What a shining example of integrity. Unlike that shining beacon of integrity that is Ahsan Ali Syed. Why dont you ask fans of a certain Spanish Club how much integrity your preferred owner has....
Mattyblue Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Hasn't phil seen the error of his ways on that... surely??
chris Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Having given Kean stick, maybe his attitude is the only way he will attract decent players. All Sam and Ince did was constantly tell us how small Blackburn was, so maybe its a nice change but not when you are on a 4 month run without winning and he says we have had 4 positive results in the last 7 games. If we are doing well then he can say what he wants and make Blackburn look at big as he wants. I just hope he can back it up.
thenodrog Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Allardyce, yesterdays man I'm afraid, Theno. He means nothing to BRFC today or into immediate future. You are right of course Dave but is this tomorrows man?.... http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=fat+person+on+little+britain+pictures&hl=en&sa=X&biw=1195&bih=523&tbm=isch&prmd=ivns&tbnid=FNfIjakLh0DzEM:&imgrefurl=http://blogs.independent.co.uk/2011/01/05/britainsfattestman-why-do-we-bully-fat-people/&docid=ZDD15tlK1C6dsM&w=310&h=227&ei=FMYvTsjpJMiz8QP_kZ1q&zoom=1

Mattyblue Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Think gord is on one, however it brings home how pathetic the whole 'slug' thing was as well.

imy9 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Kean has the Rao family all around him in HK so he is simply telling them what he thinks they want to hear. What a shining example of integrity. I doubt you'll answer but here goes: 1. Do you know him personally to question his integrity? 2. Having listened to Kamy in podcast 3 he stated that Kean was going to ask tough questions of the owners at their meeting with regards finance- read this elsewhere too, does this sound like someone who is 'telling them what they want to hear?'
Mattyblue Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 He means Phil Jones left because he wanted champions league football, come on Matty, I know its early but for goodness sake Well we know that GAV, but was he not suggesting that we would be up there in the next few years?
Ozz Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Here is the video of Kean and Nelsen http://www.3news.co....93/Default.aspx This video confirms that Kean has gained about a stone since last season, and he can also now count to six.
