Mercer Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 IMO, I think that things down at Brockhall are, and will prove to be, far from sweetness and light. I understand that there has been some 'heavy' pressure, perhaps understandably, in place generally to keep all quiet on the run-up to the Blackpool game. It's even noticeable on this MB where some of the 'big hitters' with some 'inside knowledge' have been relatively quiet. What would be interesting, when it emerges, is who changed things at half time back to the long throws, long free kicks and more direct style. Based on the talk last night, Iain Brunskill was a key figure. Many people think we now have a lame duck manager who needs to be put out of his misery. We are in freefall and a disastrous, IMO, transfer window hasn't helped one iota.

I honestly think that Kean has absolutely no influence over the Rover's players anymore and that our destiny as a Premier League team is now entirely in the player's hands. Speculation yes perhaps, but I had a weird feeling yesterday at half time when all the players turned out so early without the manager alongside them, it just didn't look right and didn't look like a team who were singing from the same hymn sheet as him.

I would agree Kean is a lame duck manager and the transfer window hasn't helped us at all.
Mattyblue Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 You what Gav? Allardyce has been crucified by the press for years! 'cronies in the press' indeed!
tashor Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 What would be interesting, when it emerges, is who changed things at half time back to the long throws, long free kicks and more direct style. Good to see Samba getting into their keepers face and Robinson taking the long free kicks - got us a point yesterday and left us able to fight another day. If we are to survive then we need to keep playing this way and let Kean know/give him sheeyitee if he starts up with the tippy/tappy stuff again. We are in freefall and a disastrous, IMO, transfer window hasn't helped one iota. The past is the past - it doesn't help at this time to bang on about the obvious gross negligence shown by our owners - leave post-mortems to the long weeks of summer after the season ends. There may well come a time when we need to do everything legal to get rid of our owners by making life too uncomfortable for them if they try to cover their self-imposed losses by asset-stripping.....................But hopefully it will not come to that The only thing we can do now is to urge the team to play in the right way - and that means the tried and trusted method that works for our set of players - the fans as the ghost of Allardyce perhaps...........
Gav Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 You what Gav? Allardyce has been crucified by the press for years! 'cronies in the press' indeed! We have a couple of Journos on here, I'm sure they'll confirm Mr Custis is a mate of Allardyces, not sure what he hoped to gain from hammering Kean again though.
RibbleValleyRover Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 The unsackable Steve Kean, who was appointed shall we say in questionable circumstances, is not doing it. I understand he indulges the players to try and get them on side and the players tend to do what they want. Thank you Mr Custis. I can imagine that being true. We have seen players who shouldn't have been offered contracts in the first place getting new deals to keep them sweet. Plus there is all the talk of how well they are training and how united they are and yet they still put in absolutely pathetic performances. Perhaps they see Kean as their friend rather than as an authority figure- he was obviously heavilly involved in the coaching side of the game under Allardyce. Maybe they need a kick up the backside, Souey anyone?
gumboots Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 How do you know it was Iain Brunskill was the key figure? If he'd meant manager he'd have said it, so who else is there? Not many.

If all the speculation and innuendo is correct, Kean had it all coming to him. What goes around, comes around. How do you know it was Iain Brunskill was the key figure? I would agree Kean is a lame duck manager and the transfer window hasn't helped us at all. By all accounts, Sam thought Brunskill had promise and was looking to develop him and give him more experience hence, at most matches, he was parked next to Sam in the first half, engaged in many discussions!
ABBEY Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Well dunny had a sly grin and joked with (I think hanley..could see because of piller)when the sacked in the morning chant was going.
sambo Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Well dunny had a sly grin and joked with (I think hanley..could see because of piller)when the sacked in the morning chant was going. How'd you know?
Mattyblue Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 How'd you know? He was in a box at the back of no1
Bobby G Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 If the players are in agreement about the manager, they should all stand up and say they wouldnt play for him. No point having sour grapes after a situation has played itself out. What happens when 22 players tell the club we want someone new in charge?

Whats the point they know he will not be sacked, just ignore him and get on the best they can. Pray like hell we stay up and we get a new manager.
watford-rover Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 What happens when 22 players tell the club we want someone new in charge? look at what the players did to clough at leeds years ago
Bobby G Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 It was more a rhetorical question. The players hold the power. They're betraying the badge they wear if they dont believe in the manager as a manager yet to continue. That's my opinion. This is not a question of one or two egos that dont make the starting line-up like was the case with Sam.

This is not a question of one or two egos that dont make the starting line-up like was the case with Sam. Normally I would 100% agree but Kean is very very confident he will not be sacked. Maybe its in his contract he cant be sacked?

Bobby G Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I dont think 20,000 fans had their voices heard. Nor have they ever gone far enough to express those views or push the owners into a corner (not that they would feel the corner at any rate).
BangkokRover Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Think twenty thousand rovers fans wanted him out! Heard very little of it on the TV, did hear the deafing boos at half time thou.
John Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 It was suggested at the time that Ince was quite pally with some the players etc - remember hearing from players like Jason Roberts they ere fully behind him too at the time.

John Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Can't really disagree with much of this. TEAMtalk's Simon Wilkes believes Blackburn are on a road to relegation despite their stirring fightback against Blackpool on Saturday.
John Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 How? Whist I obviously don't like reading it, would say the following is fairly accurate... they should never have sacked Allardyce, and did it in such an undignified fashion that it left a sour taste in everyone's mouth "There's not a lot of love for Kean, either, as he appeared to stab Allardyce in the back as he stepped up from his first-team coach role, proving to be a 'yes man' in the background as the owners talked of signing Ronaldinho and breaking into the top six with a £5million transfer budget. Venky's chairwoman Anuradha Desai has previously gone on record as saying: "We should go up in the rankings but playing well is not just about winning. The way we play is vital. The way Blackburn play over the coming months will indeed be 'vital'
