  1. 1. Should Steve Kean stay or go

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately his track record suggests he will take us down, he is tactically inept and unable to organise the team.

Adam is all left foot, did we mark him, why didnt we push him onto his right foot? we allowed the one player who could do damage to knock the ball all over the place, Keans tactic was obvious, get at them early and get a couple of goals, could have worked but of course he left us exposed AGAIN at the back and in midfield and it took the players to get the lads fired up at half time. Speculation? no a calculated judgement based on evidence of his managerial skills.

Well my judgement of that game was that we were well and truly jacked by the referee. I couldn't fault the performance much. In the first twenty minutes we outplayed them but found ourselves two nil down at half time thanks to an absurd penalty and a corker of a free kick (should have marked him better to make him take that with his right eh?).

Who was it who reverted the team to a plan B anyway? Was that the team? Fact of the matter is we were undeservedly two down at half time and it wasn't just the players who won a point. The tactics were completely different in the second half. The fact we even have a plan B is a big improvement over the walking pie.

Why? A mediocre manager would be better than Kean, he's far worse than mediocre.

Not that he would be anywhere near my first choice, but even someone like Gary Megson would be a massive improvement. Kean really is that bad.

But a mediocre manager will have to earn their respect, a top boss will have it the second he walks in the door. With so few games remaining the later gives us a better chance of surviving and that's the point of sacking him, maximising our chances.

If it is decided he should leave then I hope to god we don't have Rafa lined up. Liverpool became so detached from the community under his management and you'd have to reason he'd do the same here.

he's going nowhere folks.

save your energy, buy something nice for the missus and enjoy your friday night!

With Kean at the helm! No chance. Suicide seems to be on the cards for most chaps tonight by the read of things.

I'm astonished Rovers have any fans left.

I don't think so. Megson would increase our chances of the club going down because that sort of appointment would undermine the players totally and make heads go down.

Kean may be a rubbish manager but at least the players look to be playing for him and they know him. To swap Kean out for someone terrible (even someone less terrible than Kean) could have a massive psychological blow on the players, and the fans who would go absolutely ape. A much worse scenario than keeping what we have.

Quality or no change.

Really Maj?

Those mawkish Red Scousers always banged on about how Rafa 'got LFC', lived on the Wirral, gave money to the Hillsborough fund etc etc

In my opinion when addressing the quality enigma with Kean is hard to do.

When you walk into a car dealership and see a whole bunch of nice BMW's and Merc's you feel slightly put off that you are driving a Fiesta XR2. This Fiesta runs okay, has fits and starts, was cheap and relatively good on the fuel consumption. You just don't trust it to get you to work on time, and in the end, it may cost you your position at your job if you continue to be late.

If you are then offered a used BMW that has good mileage and a good running history do you say "No thanks, it may upset the wife and kids"

If you had a ham sandwich which tastes fine but the bread is a little dry and may make you need a drink; then a BLT comes along...

Look again, where did the penalty come from, how did the free kick occur and who was fouled?

maybe a bad reffing decision gave them a pen, I can agree 100% on that one, I've said before, he is like a Kamakaze pilot attacking but leaving ourselves exposed, even the Liverpool game where we were 3 - 0 up we couldnt keep it tight at the back, he cant organise the defence at all because he is playing unilateral football and opponents know how to exploit us, even the WBA results, they could have had a bagful of goals.

We have Arsenal next, I know the tactics I would be deploying, try to football them to death and they will murder us, wide, through the middle the lot, we bypass midfield and put the keeper and |Centre Backs under pressure, they are weak there, my bet is he wont though.

Most of the guys I've heard that sort of comment off are 50+ years old. Liverpool FC became very closed to the public when he came along and certain members of staff were very involved in schools and the such. The Spanish invasion saw lots of changes at the club & less involvement in the community from the Spanish replacements and so many older fans felt detached from their club. Liverpool before had always been about promoting from within, looking after your own attributes I would attach to Liverpudlians, all that changed when Rafa came along and some didn't like it one bit.

The turnaround v Blackpool was apparently down to Samba rousing the lads. If that is so then Kean is dead in the water. Samba must be well respected within the squad so Samba / Nelsen caretaker managers might be a better option to see the season out if that is what it would take to revitalise the troops and the supporters. The psychology might just work. Unusual but we are in unusual circumstances without either a Chairman or proper manager and pretty soon we may well have nothing to lose.

Boooo :(

You guys got me all revved up for a bit there, I thought we were all in for some cracking news.

Guess we will have to wait till we get pumped by Arsenal for the Kean sacking rumour mills to start up again.

I very much doubt he will be leaving this season but bare in mind the insiders have been wrong at times this season.

I wouldn't take anything for granted with this mob.

and then you go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like kean keeps his job

Actually he didn't - he could be staying at rovers as the toilet cleaner or something. He merely said he is going nowhere. Now Mrs Kean might be expecting him home for his tea so if I were her I'd feed it to the dog or whatever as he's obviously not going to need it himself.

We either get rid now and give a new man the International break to get things sorted or we stick with baldy and get thrashed at Arsenal. The worrying thing in all of this is the silence coming out of Ewood. Although we would be even more annoyed if Venkys were publicly slating Kean, it won't achieve anything. Rumours are more a case of wishful thinking unfortunately. Somebody please wake me up from this nightmare!
