modes98
From my information, they were expecting the lad to push on, he hasnt by all accounts and there are some worried faces at Brockhall! Hard to improve when your injured though. Well injured according to Kean. Kean is such a positive character, everytime you hear him speak the world is a rosy place - Venky's obviously like his charm. The man that designed the Titanic was so positive it wouldn't sink he didn't put enough lifeboats on board. Sometimes you need to see through abject positivity and see reality. Kean has a front he puts on to cover up his failings and worries.

Athlete
Now, Mancini hasnt flown to Dubai yet, Houllier hasnt flown off to the states, neither has Dalglish, I wonder why its neccessary for a novice to to keep flying to India given our league position? It really doesnt make sense, the business side of the club should be handled by Tom Finn unless Mrs D is telling Kean how to play and coach, what input can she give? absolutely nothing, its stupid to say the least. Kean is struggling with the football side without this nonsense. just heard from a colleague in our London office that when kean was on the staff at Fulham he was a bit of a ladies man , bit silver tongued and a very good talker/bullshitter ...The problem with being like that is when you can only bullshit so much until you get found out.......... just heard from a colleague in our London office that when kean was on the staff at Fulham he was a bit of a ladies man , bit silver tongued and a very good talker/bullshitter ...The problem with being like that is when you can only bullshit so much until you get found out.......... http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/8944777.Pressure_will_help_us__says_Kean/

rebelmswar
http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/8944777.Pressure_will_help_us__says_Kean/ Yes Kean, Yes. That's right... pressure is a good thing. Our team always responds well to pressure. Nothing to worry about at all. Arsenal are probably filling their white shorts on account of our pressure laden squad. Wenger is probably holed up in a bunker under the Emirates in fear of your fifteen foot long, quicksilver tongue. So...how much does it cost to have someone assassinated these days? For a man in such a position about 250,000. There are many who may take the job pro bono though.

Gav
Really Ivan? Tell me any other club that has th manager flying half way round the world every month? Seemingly just to convince the owners to let him stay in the job for a few more weeks. Or a club that replaces a manager mid season and doesn't replace him. Ditto the Chairman. Or a club not safe from relegation that takes relegaton clauses out of players contracts half way through the season. Or a club that has Football Agencies as part of the club's infrastrucure. You said: The structure of the club is completely unfit for purpose Ivan pointed out the only change since the Allardyce left has been the chairman, no point then ranting about a different point Matty

LeChuck
Really? How do you work that out? The only thing really missing is a chairman. Not a lot more has changed since Sam was sacked. What about the coaching staff (i.e. beyond Kean and Jensen)? Do we have anyone qualified to be in that position? As far as I can tell, Brunskill is the only non-goalkeeping coach. That is scary. I bet League One clubs have better setups than we do.
gumboots
Why jet off their at all? Farcical. Have you ever tried talking on the phone to one of those Indian call centres? End up feeling suicidal before you even get to explain the problem, especially when someone asks you "So which part of London is Blackburn in?" as happened to a friend of mine. I'd get on a plane too if i were him.

broadsword
Don't be silly. For less than the cost of a plane ticket, a video conference call can be set up. Not ideal, but how much would they have to talk about, and for how long? An hour maybe? Depriving the club of its manager for a couple of days just to hear what's been going on for an hour. Don't make me bloody laugh. Just further re-inforces the view that this whole thing is a fkng ego-trip. If it's that important why don't they come over here? CrazyIvan
Eh? All those points I mentioned are all aspects of a club's infrastructure, are they not? Not quite. Firstly, the chairman left and I acknowledged that as a change to infrastructure. Secondly, do you actually know why Kean went to India this last week? I don't. That's not infrastructure anyway. Thirdly, the manager being replaced not being replaced? Huh? Fourthly, relegation clauses that weren't in contracts not being put in contracts. So no change there and that's also not infrastructure. Fifthly, apparently Anderson et al have all gone. Done their job and left hence no permanent parts of club infrastructure. But please keep on going... onlyonejackwalker
BLACKBURN Rovers boss Steve Kean believes the pressure of a relegation battle can continue to bring the best out of his players as they prepare to return to action for the first time since their dramatic comeback against Blackpool. Rovers travel to Arsenal on Saturday after a two-week international break, knowing they are still in danger of dropping out of the Premier League this season. They remain just one point clear of the relegation zone after failing to win any of their last six league games, but Kean thinks his squad demonstrated their spirit after fighting back from their lowest moment of the season to claim a draw against Blackpool in their last match. Rovers trailed 2-0 against the Seasiders at half time, when it looked possible they could have ended the day in the bottom three - a week after losing to a controversial late penalty at Fulham. Kean felt a ‘backs to the wall’ attitude paid dividends in the second half against Blackpool and has called for a repeat of that mentality as they approach the matches ahead - even if he would rather Rovers’ forthcoming fixtures were a little less nerve-wracking. “I hope it is not going to be like that for the last eight games,” he said. “I would just like to get a comfortable clean sheet and three points, and that is what we will be working towards. “I think it would be more exciting if you were 10th and could look down on everyone. But maybe the position we are in adds an edge. “When there is massive responsibility on the lads to get something to make sure we are moving in the right direction, sometimes that gives an edge and you get performances like that. “I think the decision against us in the last minute at Fulham was a bit of a turning point. “The lads spoke about their determination to stick together. That was a turning point and the team spirit was tremendous.” Venky’s have reiterated their support for Kean in the last few days after the odds briefly tumbled on the Scot becoming the next Premier League manager to leave his job. And the Rovers boss feels confident that the club’s owners are still behind what his plans for the club. “The owners watch all the games after the event, they get all the newspapers, they follow what is being said on the internet,” he said. “I give them a call to tell them about the game and hopefully communication is good enough to keep the finger on the pulse. “There is a lot about perception but they are very intuitive people. They have been over, they know the plan, they know the emergence of the young players and they are in it for the long haul. I am delighted with that. “They have ambitions to move the club forward. “They know the lads are training well, they know we are determined to get something from every game. “Sometimes you get a run of games where you don't get anything but, with the exception of the second half against Aston Villa, I would say in every single game we didn't get something from there were spells we could have been ahead. “We have good players and we prepare properly.”

LeChuck
I agree that is something that needs sorting out. It hasn't changed since Sam left though has it? We haven't got an experienced first team coach anymore as we didn't bring in another coach to replace Kean when he moved up, so we're one man down from Sam's day. Parsonblue
I agree that is something that needs sorting out. It hasn't changed since Sam left though has it? I think you'll find it's changed quite a bit since Sam left. For a start Sam and Neil MacDonald have both gone with Kean stepping up and Jensen coming in as the assistant. This has meant that Iain Brunskill - who has done an excellent job with the Reserves - has moved up to first team coach. This is the first senior position he has held. Four or five years ago he was coaching the Liverpool U12's. Gary Bowyer has moved up from the Academy and is now in charge of the Reserves while Terry McPhillips has moved up from the Under-16's to take the Under-18's. Thus the coaching set-up has changed at every level within the club. These are, I believe, permanent appointments as Kean wanted to promote from within rather than bring in outside coaches. seekay
Why? Easy - they've won their last 6 home games on the trot, they are 3 points off the play-off group with a game in hand, they have 5 more home games to come and have had the same manager for must be 10 years. No boardroom disputes any more, almost! So I would say that's something to be happy about, compared to the Rovers present predicament. And i come from Accy. Hopefully I can look back in a few months time and say I was being overcritical on him...

Yes they were in contracts, Pederson excepted, also previously, consultations between owners and club were done through the chairman and board not the manager flying all over the place when he should be looking after his players, thats changed as well plus as Parsons has stated, changes all over the club!! Hughes had three pro license coaches with him, Sam had two, Kean has none!!
