  1. 1. Should Steve Kean stay or go

Recommended Posts

I'm not certain about that, what would make them perform differently? Perhaps Kean adopting different tactics, Rovers players below form, Arsenal being more direct? I favour Kean and the team as much as a poor performance from Arsenal. Last ditch heroics from the likes of Olsson gives me the belief that the team are together and that Kean is a positive, not a negative influence.

How many times have we seen rovers come out flat [as Pafell said]? It does happen and the reason isn't always obvious. Arsenal knew they needed to raise the tempo and simply couldn't do it. I saw that, the commentators saw it and Wenger saw it. If they could have managed that, no doubt in my mind that they would have beaten us. Arsenal on top form would beat any side. Yesterday, they weren't. It was a bit of both, - them being below par, coupled with us setting our stall out well.

I don't want to take anything at all away from a really good rovers performance, but we also have to be realistic about the game. That's all I want to say.

Ince had experience, look how that turned out

SK did a good job on Arsenal

just maybe he his getting it right, you have to learn somewhere

due to circumstance he is learning at Blackburn.

The crunch is at the end of the season, if we have a good finish it will be a tough call as to wether he stays or goes.

I'm sorry but that kind of reason and common sence just isn't welcome here.

MERCERMAN DEMANDS IT!

Topman - a bit OTT.

This one has raged on and off for some time now and unless I'm mistaken, no one has been able to produce a bona fide reference site which confirms.

All I'm saying is that it should be confirmed to stop the speculation.

Most professions, including the one that I am in, allow the public to access members' listings and qualifications.

Seeing as managers WITHOUT the Uefa Pro License require dispensation, it stands to reason that Kean must have it. Otherwise he wouldn't have the job.

And like I said in the other thread, the IrishFA must have got their info from somewhere before posting it on their official website.

Most FAs publish lists of their UEFA Pro License holders and I have not seen Kean's name on any of them yet. I agree he must have one as there is no way the football authorities would have let him take the post without the valid paperwork.

PS Just seen Steve Moss' post in the Ince thread that SK was due to get his license in Scotland in 2001.

This is going to give the rumours that Venky's and Rafa are talking another twist. I have no idea whether there is any substance in them.

However he isn't the long-term answer in my view. He does not look like bulking up and gets sickened too easily.

A human being in capable of bulking up, impossible. His heads not right? No wonder the way he's been treated since he got here, in out shake him all about. Ever football man knows that strikers need runs in a team and Kean, just like Sam has never given him the run of 10 or so games he needs on the bounce. It's clear to me that Rovers desperately need to start adding specialist people to the back-room team, starting with a full time shrink.

Strange that he does well for Croatia and had an equally impressive record at Split. Yet he comes to us gets thrown in every now and then plus played in a system that isn't suited to his way of playing and he is suddenly rubbish. I suppose Torres is crap to by the same logic.

Benjani is a poor striker, Roberts works, works, works and works but can't score, Santa Cruz can't do it with no decent crosses coming in, Kalinic scores goals but doesn't get a chance. Crazy.

For me rovers have issues getting players heads straight especially on foreign players.

Kean well done for your part in saturdays draw, one small step forward on a journey you inspired.

Just heard Kean on the sports breakfast on talksport , nothing ground breaking really, he mentioned we have momentum after the comeback against Bpool and the point at Arsenal. Mentioned that we’d not come back from 2 goals down in a while, which was a building block and has given the lads confidence.

He said the team is together, you could see that from the performance on Saturday, the way they put their bodies on the line etc etc.

All in all he sounded assured and confident for me, if that gets across to the players we’ll be ok as far as I’m concerned.

If the spirit was not there I would be resigned to our fate, fortunately it was there in abundance on Saturday.

We just need a blummin win!

For me, that's the vital difference between Kean & Ince.

The players lost faith in Ince very quickly and fell apart, despite so many leaders on the pitch.

Perhaps this is where the coach side of Kean is shining through. *shrug*

Yes agree with that, I think it may just carry us through, fingers crossed.

I think the spirit/determination is so good at the moment it justifies keeping the manager on (certainly for the time being).

Obviously we need results however if we keep these battling qualities we should be OK.

As it has been so long let's hope the players have not forgotten the winning feeling/mentality.

My link

In respones to whether Kean has his badge or not.If you search at the top for `steve Kean then you will find he is actually one of the Guest Specialist Lecturers/Coaches.

That should put that argument to bed! :rover:

Indeed it is. Thank goodness for that! No doubt it won't satisfy some, though
