Ricky Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 I've had a change and bought a couple of tickets in the JW upper. Thought it might not be too noisy to bring the little one Only 25 quid for all of our tickets and pretty much on the halfway line so I'm pretty happy with that.
chocky Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Fantastic value..those without season tickets get yourselves to Ewood Park.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Would be great to see a full ground as we ram the vile comments of two-bob Journalists down their fat mouths.

scunnyrover Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 This is going to be my first home game since I was kid, looking forward to it, hope ewood is rammed and a good atmosphere. We're stopping at the travelodge just off the m65, anyone care to enlighten me to how to get to ewood and which ways the best way to travel to it Also where's the best place to drink afterwards? Cheers in advance
Ricky Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 It's not too far from the travel lodge. Maybe a bit too far to walk so a taxi is always an option. I always enjoy a couple of beers in blues after the game and then a decent curry in Darwen is a good shout as it's not too far from the travel lodge. Not sure about town centre pubs anymore as I'm not allowed out to play these days.
Hughesy Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 No way is it too far to walk....thats just lazy Ricky!! Agree with Rickys idea on the curry in Darwen too - either Akash or Anaz Best place to drink is Blues really, failing that Golden cup on the way down, Fernhurst if your not in team colours, Fox & Hounds, Aqueduct.
Ricky Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Ha ha, I was trying to remember how far it was lol. Few pubs on the way to pass the time I guess. I'm looking forward to this one. It'll be my daughters second match.

Mattyblue Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Can't go wrong with a Ruby and a few ales in Darwen (beats Blackburn)
ABBEY Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 No way is it too far to walk....thats just lazy Ricky!! Agree with Rickys idea on the curry in Darwen too - either Akash or Anaz Best place to drink is Blues really, failing that Golden cup on the way down, Fernhurst if your not in team colours, Fox & Hounds, Aqueduct. forget husghey...Ricky Sukhis is head n shoulders above any curry in Darren.
Ricky Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Been to sukhis I think abbey. Think I might have been to the akash as well. As far as I can hazily recall they were both spot on. The darwenners are spoilt for choice when it comes to a good curry!!
old darwen blue Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 forget husghey...Ricky Sukhis is head n shoulders above any curry in Darren. Ditto Abs For a curry in Darren there is no decision to be made...Sukhis every time

Cheers in advance Scunny, sorted. Walk out of Travelodge back to main road, turn left then left then left (threetimes) thats a fifteen minute walk and will take you to Uncle Jacks pub at Lower Darwen. Beers in there before the match (then just follow the crowd) then after the game either Blues Bar or wait on the main road past Ewood and get a bus to Darwen. Ask the driver which is the stop for Sukhis then your sorted pal. Taxi from there at the end of the night to the Travelodge. On edit Beer Rovers win Excellent food and more beer =Paradise, does it get better than this
scunnyrover Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Cheers everyone for the response, looking forward to having quite a few beers afterwards, what's the clubs like in blackburn? I suspect they'll be the same as scunthorpe this might sound stupid but is darwen another town joined on to blackburn? Don't no anything about that side of the country lol Also is it easy enough to get a taxi on matchday at about 2ish ?
Ricky Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Taxi will be no problem from my experience. I've got them around that time but i'd try to get around the ground a bit earlier if I were you. Have a beer in the aquaduct or somewhere and have a nose around the club shop. I'm hoping to be in blues after the game if my little one hasn't demanded we go back to the hotel and watch Mr Tumble by then!!
Mattyblue Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Just think of Darwen as Blackburn South Blackburn's nightlife is abysmal, end of.
scunnyrover Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Cheers for the advice ricky, won't be gettin to blackburn till about dinnertime though. The blues get busy before and after then? Easy enough to get a pint? I'm sure you'll manage to get him in there for alf hour while you have a drink, just persuade him with sweets and chocolate, I'm sure that'll do the trick! Where abouts you travelling from? You get to many games?
the original david brent Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Just think of Darwen as Blackburn South Blackburn's nightlife is abysmal, end of. Agreed. Darwen after is your best bet. Compared to Blackburn, it's the lesser of 2 evils! Darwen does have a selection of pubs that get busy, and a couple of new bars have recently opened. Sadly the same cannot be said for the burn anymore. It's a shame because as little as 10 years ago, Blackburn was a bustling night out. Ricky is spot on with his curry shout! Albeit Anaz is the best quality by a country mile! Unfortunately the owner Mr Ali has been in a spot of bother with the law(see tonights telegraph). There is also an excellent Tapas place in Darwen centre, La Salsa, if you fancy something different. Very cheap, great food, licensed bar etc. Pre match, I like the golden cup, which is only a 5 min walk from your hotel.
cletus Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 what's the clubs like in blackburn? clubs? do you mean club?
