[Archived] Are Rovers' the most disliked team around?

Hatred and envy - two sides of the same coin. Rovers are the most envied club for all the reasons listed above. Personally, I think we are "hated" because we are the last great link to the past (the past being the dominance of the North-West/Lancashire in sport, culture and history), a past that is despised by the Southern based media and FA and something they have longed to whitewash to ease the weight of those very heavy chips. The fact we are still lurking around in the Prem irks them greatly, thus we suffer from unfair criticism, are labelled as bullies or hoofballers, NEVER get the rub of the green etc. all of which is spread via column inches to gullible football followers (not fans).

I would love to see us wind them up more; say have a brass band march out before kick-off and play Dvorak's largo from the New World Symphony (the "Hovis tune") and have the players wear really long shorts and practice with those big, heavy, leather balls. I can just see the veins throbbing in their heads and several cardiac arrests in the press box!

To be honest, living away from blackburn and the north west, nobody really gives a damn.

One thing is true though, when SA was in charge people wernt keen on us, mainly because people hate him and the style of football he uses.

its not just the football club.. I find people treat u like whit and look down at u once they know you're from blackburn.. maybe it has something to do with the club but its certainly more than just football

Just tell them politely that they've got it wrong.

In any case, the history of both Blackburn Rovers AND the town of Blackburn is something to be proud of and I've seen plenty of worse places on my travels.

I come from Teesside - enough said really. And until the recent takeover which has damaged our reputation, most people coming into Rovers thought it was one of the friendliest and most pleasant places to come - players, officials and everyone else I heard from.

Wrong. Manchester United are the most hated company in Britain beating Ryanair into second place in a recent poll. Quelle suprise!

Would have to concur that whilst the media certainly have no love for us, the general footballing public just don't really care about us.

Whenever I tell somebody down here I support Blackburn it's met with a surprised 'oh, really?' response. If I was telling people I supported Man Utd or Liverpool or even Chelsea/Arsenal/City/Spurs there'd be a lot more hatred IMO just because they are currently successful clubs (Liverpool aside) with a lot of cash.
