According to the LT Rovers have agreed a pre-season game in India this summer.

It will be before the ASIA Trophy in Hong Kong (27-30 July)

The game will be played in Calcutta against Brazilian side Flamengo.

Not sure if it will be but in Calcutta the Saltlake stadium holds 120,000 people!! :wacko:

You think so? Surely this is one tiny positive in all of this? Here is a chance to boost our appeal abroad. Other clubs have been doing the same in other areas.

I think I read this morning that 17% of the world's population live in India. Not a bad place to look for supporters!

Not to be over negative but for anyone making plans around our summer games bare in mind if we were to go down we would be replaced in the Asia trophy.

Have been expecting an announcement of a game in India for some time now and I see it as a good thing.

This is the side of things that Huber will be useful for. Hopefully they can raise some funds through some sort of TV deal for this one.

And sponsorship maybe

Cant see anything negative to this...its all about getting an EPL side infront of the Indian public

Don't we need to be in the Premier League to qualify for the Asian Cup?

Incidentally this game is a reason why I was suggesting Rovers might have a continuing relationship with Kentaro even though it looks like Jerome Anderson/SEM are terminated.

Yes. So if we a) get relegated or b ) finish in the Europe places (clashes with qualifying I believe) then we don't go.
