Hughesy Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 why didnt they arrange a game against an Indian team? All poor & also it allows them to promote in 2 key areas...India and also Brazil

Iceman Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 but if we get thrashed by Flamengo, then the Indian public might not want to support us. Now if we played an easy team, and thrashed them, then great. However, we will probably lose to that easy team anyway.
tony gale's mic Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 This is a match which has several personal ties for me - parents are from Kolkata and have been there ten times since I was born, saw Flamengo play at the Maracana about five years ago and girlfriend supported Flamengo when she was growing up in Brazil. Can't see any negatives in this, should get the side some exposure in India...but obviously if we get relegated it will all go to pot.
otto man Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Wow what a suprise! yet another thread turns in to let's lynch Venkys, Kean, Kentaro, Anderson, Et al. Tell ya what mods lets just save time and rename every thread "The Lynching Thread" Jesus! Talk about Groundhog Day!

otto man Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 If you don't like what's posted, keep away. Easy isn't it. Why keep away? Why not stick to the thread subject? Even easier eh? Are you telling me you aren't bored by it all, thread after thread just degenerating in to the same regurgitated venom or are you one of those that are revelling in this mess?(By the way Professor, to know the actual thread content I have to read it don't I? Or do ya think I'm phsycic?)
joey_big_nose Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 If you don't like what's posted, keep away. Easy isn't it. I'm extremely close to giving this board up to be honest, like dozens of others who already have. Obviously the negativity is understandable to an extent in the circumstances, but this place is just depressing now and the tone of self pity and recrimination from some quarters is just pathetic. Kean is a poor manager, Venky's are doing a poor job, but lets not forget why we like football. COYB!
Mercer Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Article from The Sun: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3510943/Blackburn-set-for-Indian-pre-season-tour.html That's some corporate hospitality if Kean is correct. Flying & accommodating 2,000 guests some 2,500 miles away will not leave must change out of close to £5million if Indian's corporate tax laws on corporate entertainment are as the UK's. Seems a bit far fetched to me.
67splitscreen Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 If we're still shopping in the same market place they'll want any marquees in place for their show piece.
roversmum Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Oh dear. They won't be best pleased if the tournament goes t*ts up then ...
67splitscreen Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Oh dear. They won't be best pleased if the tournament goes t*ts up then ... Perhaps Balaji can put his revolver to good use then ...... Kean eye for a target.
BangkokRover Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Article from The Sun: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3510943/Blackburn-set-for-Indian-pre-season-tour.html That's some corporate hospitality if Kean is correct. Flying & accommodating 2,000 guests some 2,500 miles away will not leave must change out of close to £5million if Indian's corporate tax laws on corporate entertainment are as the UK's. Seems a bit far fetched to me. Easily possible remember that Venkey's are quiet big here in Asia and that most Asians are football mad. If you were to offer people a free flight and hotel and ticket to see a Premier League team, they would bite your hand off. No reason to think that all 2,000 will becoming from India when there will also be games in India.
OhmiBRFC Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Not to be over negative but for anyone making plans around our summer games bare in mind if we were to go down we would be replaced in the Asia trophy. Have been expecting an announcement of a game in India for some time now and I see it as a good thing. Can't say that! We've already booked it.
Eddie Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I would have been happy about this but I cannot begin to support anything which is designed to help Venkys at the moment. Regardless of what your inside information is, a stance like this confuses me. Like it or not they are our owners now, so if something is good for them it should also be good for the club.
Backroom Tom Posted April 16, 2011 Backroom Posted April 16, 2011 Can't say that! We've already booked it. Ohmi, is it you that re-arrnaged your wedding or honeymoon so you could go? It's not like it's the worst place in the world to be in for a honeymoon anyway I just hope you get to see us out there!
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 What a load of shyte...more self promotion for Venky's

Athlete Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Yeah, really happy for Venkys exposure to the world.... Kean wouldnt get a win there even against an Indian 11......
OhmiBRFC Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Ohmi, is it you that re-arrnaged your wedding or honeymoon so you could go? It's not like it's the worst place in the world to be in for a honeymoon anyway I just hope you get to see us out there! Yeah. Did you see it in the programme? Load of crap that! Made it sound like it was my fiance's idea and it really wasn't. Took me three days to convince her to change it.
Backroom Tom Posted April 24, 2011 Backroom Posted April 24, 2011 No mate I think I remember you mentioning it on here before
PAFELL Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 What a load of shyte...more self promotion for Venky's Would be funny if a load of rovers suoorters went over and chanted "Venky's out" or "Kean out", throughout the match. They'd sell the club faster than they sell their chickens.

Eddie Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Yeah, really happy for Venkys exposure to the world.... I'm slightly confused on this one...why exactly should any of us dislike them personally? They mishandled the manager situation, but we did spend more in the January window than in any of last few. The PR hasn't always been positive, but that's no reason to truly dislike them.

Look at the league table. Look at the signings they brought in. And..."mishandled the manager situation"?? That's a monumental understatement.
Steve Moss Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 I'm slightly confused on this one...why exactly should any of us dislike them personally? They mishandled the manager situation, but we did spend more in the January window than in any of last few. The PR hasn't always been positive, but that's no reason to truly dislike them. Not only the manager situation, but the chairman situation, the agent situation (JA), the transfer speculation and probably a few more things I'm forgetting. Despite that, I have no heartache with them personally. I just wish they'd up their football business savvy and shrewdness and start winning a few of these 'situations' for the good of the club.
