[Archived] Rovers to Play in India - Pre-season

Recommended Posts

Look at the league table.

Look at the signings they brought in.

And..."mishandled the manager situation"?? That's a monumental understatement.

Signings - is RSC the same man Big Sam wanted??

Nothing is to say that had they given Sam till summer and then replaced him, that next season would go well. Kean may have been appointed in summer.

Come on Venkys are at worst naive, they obviously want the club to be a success but have been badly advised.

My only personal dislike is for the manager and maybe JA.

Hasn't Sam been on record saying that RSC was his third choice? Osvaldo and N'Zogbia were his first choices?

But then again they cost money. And did we actually pay for RSC? Or was it a wash on the monies ManC still owed us on his transfer fee?

Is your favourite band Status Quo?

Has he?

As for the other targets....im sure every manager in every league would love a £10m player, however it doesnt happen for many!

As for RSC - I thought they paid it all upfront?

I have no idea one way or the other. I was just wondering if they still owed us money. If it is true that payments are staggered over the life of the contract, that is possible. If so, why would Venkys write a check, as opposed to merely using one debt to offset another?

Just got this on twitter off an Indian Journo

Blackburn Rovers is coming to Pune around 20th July. They are interesting to play against East Bengal in Mumbai

@rupayanb

Dont they play in the 120,000 seater salt lake stadium?

The bigger Venky's get, surely the bigger the club gets?

The more money they make, the more money they might invest into the club.

The worse they do, the worst we do.

If they had any sence it would be the other way around. The more successful Rovers are the more successful their other businesses that venkys have will become. If Rovers are successful, venky's could even take on KFC in the uk for a start, Rovers being the best publicity and advert that they could have. Starting in Blackburn, opening venky chicken outlets - creates jobs in the local area. Then spread outwards etc. Then more money would be made.

Looking at it they come under the United Breweries Group which is based in India, probably nothing but there could be a link.

You could have a good point - nice logo on a blue and white shirt.

The game is going to be played in Mumbai and not Kolkata. So they won't be playing at the 120,000 seater salt lake stadium.

That's what I thought with Kingfisher owning 50% of East Bengal, this could be a stronger link and the sponsorship certainly seems possible.

Makes sense to us, but will those in the seats of power see the same thing?

As for the trip it was inevitable, but welcome. Gets the Rovers name out there.

I think the kingfisher logo would look smart on a rovers shirt

http://www.football-shirts.co.uk/fans/new-sponsor-for-blackburn-rovers_10015

here what the Venky's logo would look like

http://www.roversfans.co.uk/first-team/new-blackburn-rovers-kit-unofficial/

could anybody put the Kingfisher logo onto the shirts where the venkys logo is and post it to see what this would look like? Thanks
